Good Morning All. Clear and 50°. Happy Halloween. Another picture perfect day for us with a high around 75° and a light breeze. Most of the next ten days are supposed to be the same except rain on Friday - same temperature though.
Despite the beautiful day outside yesterday, I ended up inside most of the day. Top off the dishwasher and ran and emptied it, two loads of laundry, burned the burn trash, (at least that was outdoors). I swapped two easy chairs in the living room and my wife didn't even notice, (or just didn't mention it), ran the Roomba vacuum, and cooked spare ribs for supper. I also made pea salad and Balsamic roasted Brussels Sprouts. All that with 1 1/2 hours for church, (20 minute ride each way). Wife came home in time for the Cowboy/Bear game and was no real help except for folding the clothes.
When I did go outside, I picked about a dozen tomatoes and split two 16" logs into 8 pieces. So far this season, I have not started a fire in the wood-burning heater and it's the last day of October. Most years, I need a fire 4-5 days in October and 15 days in November. However due to La Niña in the Pacific this year, we generally get a drier and warmer winter here in North Texas. Second year in a row. La Niña produces more rain and snow in the northern reaches of the states and southern Canada.
Thanks to all who commented on or reacted to yesterday's post.
Being that it was Sunday and due to doing so much indoors yesterday, I didn't get as far along as I wanted in the train shed as I wanted. But progress was still made. I finished out the kitchen portion of the diner, painting the windows and trim and touching up some other spots.
I'm still not sure why everything that I photograph on the workbench has a red glow to it.
I ran a train or two just to stay in practice.
Tom O - I meant to thank you yesterday for the lead on Alkem.
I still don't mind taking my morning walk in the dark, most of the critters have settled down for the day. Of course I am not walking in the woods either. That makes a big difference. Traffic can be an issue depending on my time frame. But I can see the lights from over a mile away and I can be prepared. Besides many of them know that they might encounter me since we've been using the same road together for over 7 years. While still working, they would have seen me in the evening. Besides there isn't a lot of traffic. Depending on my time frame, I might not encounter any at all.
Curt - This is a tentative (rough) look at what I plan to do with the front of the diner.
Hughie - The brewery is really an impressive structure.
Fantastic looking modules.
Everybody have a great Halloween and don't let the goblins get you.
