Forget Super Bowl III as well.

And let's not talk about the 1971 NBA finals.

While we are at it can we not talk about Roberto Clemente, Bob Roberts or Steve Blass. Oh, hell just skip the 1971 World Series altogether.

And 1979 world series too! If I never hear the song "We are family" again it will be too soon. For you smart asses, forget posting a link to the song, I won't click on it!

I've outgrown getting upset when my teams lose, but childhood trauma lasts a lifetime.
Hmmm, having never watched sports (especially PRO sports) I cannot relate to any of this stuff. In 1971 I was too busying designing electric go-karts. And in 79 I was just out of college starting my career, in my first apartment, in a new REAL city far away from "home", figuring everything out.

Celebrity endorsements actually tend to make me look stronger at the other candidates. The only good one this time around IMOO was when Taylor Swift said she has made her choice but for you to do your own research. That’s the way it should be done.
Yeah, generally as if celebrities know anything about anything but being a celebrity. Why do people think they know stuff?

Speaking of Sports, by 1971, I was a full time college student, recently finished Active Army duty, and still doing Army Reserve, and a full time locomotive fireman on the Penn Central. Very little time for sports, except on the car radio. I discovered that a AM station in Hamilton Ontario, came in at night in SE Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware. And....that they broadcast Toronto Maple Leafs games. So began my obsession with Hockey.

I received a gift today:
Pullover 10_30_24.jpg

A pullover, with the logo of the Washington Football Team. (Which is 6 - 2 this year). Unfortunately, where I live, I'm more likely to get the Football Giants, who are 2 - 6, so I don't watch much football.

I dug out more 50 ton B&O hoppers for the Sand train, and I resurrected the upgrade project for my CNJ (Coast Guard Scheme) RS-3.

Happy Halloween gang! 🎃👻☠️

55° under clear skies, looking for a high today of 79°. I’m sure this is going to bring all the little gals and goblins out tonight. We have two huge bags of treats to hand out if I don’t squirrel away the Hershey’s dark chocolate, mini bars. Mwuhahaha!

Morning all,

Not much yet. Storms last night went as predicted mostly east of us. We did get .3" of wet stuff all day yesterday. Supposed to be rainy all weekend, so hopefully it does.

Just a big bag of Tootsie rolls here at the office for employee's kids that come by this afternoon. All stuff I'll eat, but shouldn't. Fortunately, my only concerns with the Dr has been low good cholesterol, but in ratios between the good and the bad, is in the normal range.

Funny how with no searching all my ads streams have been for cologuard lately. Had that done a year ago....

Not much else yet...

Good Morning All. Currently clear and 55°, and the weather rock is wet. Looks like about 0.75" in the rain gauge but it's still too dark to tell exactly. I know that we had a thunderstorm overnight, never heard it but noticed lightning flashes when I got up for a bathroom break. Our power went off while I was returning to the bed, and it came back on about four or five minutes later. While this rain will settle the dust and rinse everything off, it isn't enough to be really useful towards breaking the current drought. The ground will be dry by this afternoon.

Just to break the monotony of cutting firewood, I switched to splitting some large logs (manually with a "sledge & wedge") yesterday. Thankfully no soreness this morning. No outdoor chores this morning, we'll get back on track with the weekly grocery trek instead.
No trick or treaters expected here tonight. Never had one at this house or the two before. Haven't had one since we lived in a rent house in Denton back in 1976.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I looked in vain for the short in the trackwork. I had it isolated to a 35' block of main line but never found anything. I then moved all of the switches back and forth a couple of times and it went away!😵‍💫 I'll have to look at all of them closer now. Even though it is fixed, I want to know what's wrong.

From the archives, a pair of CF7's switching out a covered hopper of fertilizer at Delta Fertilizer, the local fertilizer supplier.

Karl - I don't know Howard Zane personally, but feel like I do from watching all of the Allen Keller videos. One thing that I learned from him and I don't mean it negatively towards him; is don't make a layout that is too big to clean and maintain once it's finished. I recall some video that had cobwebs and debris on parts of his layout and the narrator asked him about it. He remarked that he didn't have time any more to keep it clean.
David - I assume from your comments that the medical procedure went well. Good news for the cruise lines!;)

Of course today is Halloween. Enjoy it however you celebrate. For several years when I was younger, I had an annual party, where I gave a prize to the person with the smallest costume. Wife ended that tradition when our oldest child was born.
Everyone have a great Thursday.

The Dodgers did a great job of coming back from a terrible start. Yankees had to have been very comfortable with their 5-0 lead over halfway through the game to have let that happen.
Clubroom time today. I'm heading down to the clubroom in about half an hour just for a change of places and run a loco over the layout. Been some changes going on with the organizational structure there. Not sure how we will move ahead.
Halloween time this evening. Gonna be great weather for the kids to run around. The neighborhood sets up tables down at the foot of the driveway and we can meet the new neighbors and catch up on the latest gossip. The Halloween decorations rival the Christmas decorations around here.

Good morning from Wisconsin. I just emptied the rain gauge of exactly 3” of water. It started yesterday afternoon after 4 and it was a mix of heavy lightning, wind and sideways rain. We needed it though

I need to drive 47 miles to pick up 2 of my locomotives I had stripped and repainted. Long story but the painter lives in Oklahoma and was coming up while we were in Texas so dropped my locos at the place the ops sessions were that he came to Wisconsin for. Making arrangements to meet up though have been a joy and this will work for today

Not sure what else I’ll do today but Terry has a last minute medical (they fit her in)at 3:45 as she has not been feeling well since we returned. So until she returns I will man the candy dish as Trick or Treat is from 3 to 8pm, unless I turn off the porch lights early
