Well howdy there internet peeps and those who like flouride in your water and toothpaste

Its Troy again

Sleep study complete. Had to wear it two hours before bed. It wasn't uncomfortable while I slept, but I feel like I've got a bruise about to develop just above where the device was on my wrist.

I'll turn it in this afternoon and see what the docs say. The worst part was pulling the tape off my chest to hold that sensor in place. Ouch.

Got the new parts in for my bambu printer!

AMS.jpg

The AMS unit. It holds and auto feeds four spools of filament. I can load four different colors and select which I want without having to manually unload the spool. And it allows the machine to do multicolor prints. I don't see much use for it in the multicolor, but having it detect filament out, and switch to the next roll is my primary use. Plus it has room for desicant pouches. Not quite a dry box, but a more humidity stable box once it's loaded.

The are even files to print out additional desicant storage boxes to drop between the white feeder tubes in the front. And the desicant recommended is microwavable to purge the absorbed h2O and reuse it.

Weekly grocery trek today along with the pharmacy. I'll be going alone and making it a quick trip so my wife can leave this afternoon for Dallas to take 15 year old grandson #2 to golf practice after school; and make him supper tonight and breakfast tomorrow morning. Parents and older brother are away visiting another college as part of his National Merit tour. Other daughter's family is out of town and cannot take care of it. He'll spend Friday night alone which he's done before.
God Bless you both, practice is important. And thanks for sharing that, I loved reading about it. He will enjoy his rare Friday night solitude.

Lineup for my family's Thanksgiving Day sit-down dinner includes 27 adults and 18 children, for a total of 45 people.
That is something to be thankful for! How many turkeys will be roasted for the feast?

Can we come? I'm tall, I can sit in the back and still see the football games on TV. Angela is little, she can sit on my lap and should be able to see too. Now all we need is a high-speed train from Baltimore to Texas. 😁

I strongly suspect that the daughter and I both fall on the autism spectrum.
When I coached little league in Rosedale, they would assign kids with autism to my team. I love those kids, but I had to come prepared. No time for thinking about what to do next. They usually outperformed expectations and were always a pleasure to have with me.

Charlie our Cavalier King Charles loved it. He would play snow plow in the snow.
Your Charlie reminds me of my Bessy, our English Cocker Spaniel, she loved the snow. With her double coat fur the snow would pack on her until she looked like a "Snow Dog'. When we came in, I had to give her a warm bath to remove the snow, she didn't mind.

Mmmmmm, that pizza looks good.
Just finished up the daily morning routine, clearing about 80 or so trash emails from my trash folder on the internet machine here.
I have to scan through them because occasionally a real email finds its way there. Even if I've been corresponding with the person for years, his email goes right to the trash bin. Machine has a mind of its own.
Modules are all set for the Science Museum show. I'll load them up into the Tesla Sunday morning and move em down to the Museum. We'll have Monday and Tuesday to do the final touch ups then the Musuem closes Wed through Fri then the show. This will provide a stress test for the Azatrax Grade Crossing system. The Logic Rail Technologies system didn't do too well with the heavy train traffic, but does just fine on my home layout where traffic isn't as heavy.
I think I'll spend some time working on the empire in the basement. It's quite a mess down there with most of the facia removed so I can trace all the wiring.

Howdy everyone from NW Indiana. It feels like 31 here and the snow is fading away like Disney's new Snow White movie. You guys really get early in the morning. I've been up for about an hour; but I was finish the roof on my BTS McCabe Engine house. I will hide most of the view of the static Monogram Hudson behind it..(Plastic Engine thread elsewhere).

We need some groceries today and Joan wants to go. We will have to go earlier than she wants to so that she can get an electric cart for her to ride in. Most are taken by women that need the exercise instead of riding an electric cart up and down the doughnut aisle all day.

Good Morning All. Clear and 40°, didn't get as cold as was forecasted at 36°. Pleasant day yesterday at 69°, expecting the same today. No snow in our forecast; no rain either. Might get our first freeze Thanksgiving night.

The first fire of the season in the wood-burning heater was Wednesday without incident Started up normally and I only fed it enough wood that it fired out around 0400. House stayed warm enough the rest of the night and all day. Since there was no wind last night, I didn't need to start one overnight. I was ready, having carried in a 1.5 day supply of wood. It doesn't seem right to be carrying in wood while still in short pants.

Yesterday's weekly grocery trek went well, but I bought so much that it took longer than normal. Totally filled the shopping cart. Soft drinks in the 12 oz cans were buy 2 12-packs, get 3 free; so I restocked the Sugar-Free A&W Root Beer for me and the Caffeine-Free Diet Coke for my wife. That filled the bottom rack. I'm hoping not to go next week. Of course, that shot the whole morning. After my noon-nap I emptied firewood from the cart before bringing in the next supply.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I just relaxed by running a few trains. One out and back local switching run interrupted by a few through freights requiring the switch crew to tie up on the siding for a bit. I did get a couple of better pictures of the Mini Prints "Daisy on a bicycle" figure.

I need a tad of touch up and she needs to be mounted on a base still, but she is otherwise ready to go.

Ken - I also have a real problem with folks who don't understand hearing loss. I catch hell from my wife all of the time because she thinks that just because I have hearing aids, I should hear as well as anyone else. What she doesn't understand, even after explaining many times, is that the aids amplify everything besides her voice; TV/radio, appliances cycling, surrounding vehicle noises, wind and most of all, the car radio which she likes to have loud!
John - Structures can be repaired. Getting the layout running properly should override any labor to fix them.
Your observation regarding electric grocery carts mirrors what I see every week.
Chad - My self-managed accounts also did well Tuesday, everything worked in my favor. Wednesday and Thursday not so well but they did gain. Overall the gain was in ETF's and was brought down by the individual stock holdings. Those I expect to be a bit volatile.
Louis -

When I hosted I did 2-18 pounders. My brother who's home we're going to this year, usually does a 20 pounder plus a breast only. There's usually two persons assigned the smashed taters, as everyone eats those. Only first generation siblings get assigned Rutabagas and creamed onions, since we're the only ones who know how to make either, and we seem to be the only ones who eat them as well. Two persons are assigned beer. Ironically, this year, one of them is a teetotaler (unusual in my Irish Catholic family), and was told which brands to purchase.
Sure, you can come, but the TV is turned off for the duration of dinner.

A few of us are old enough to remember where we were and what we were doing 61 years ago today when JFK was assassinated. RIP.
Everyone have a fabulous Friday.

Wife and I for once don't have Turkey Day plans, and the weather guessers (as of now) are guessing a poopy day of freezing rain and/or snow. Not the weather I want to roast something in the Kamado. (I don't care for turkey, so it'd be a chuck roast most likely). We'll see how that plays out. But I got these just in case we have to have our dinner in that day.

I was in high school geometry class when we were notified.

Hearing loss is a much broader issue than just needing sound amplified.
In my case, I have profound hearing loss in certain active ranges.
A woman's voice to me sounds very choppy because their voice is a compilation of numerous octaves in the audible range. When ya remove some of those octaves, it's like removing a few letters from a written sentences then trying to make sense of it.
When people talk fast, like many children do, I have sever difficulty understanding them, much the same as reducing the space between typed letters to the point the letters are overlapping each other.
This is all the result of many years of firing weapons, artillery firing and explosives and audible radio communications of voice, morse code and radio teletype.
Once again, the injuries of serving are not always visible.
JFK, I was in Junior High School when we heard about it over the school PA system.

Good morning from a bright So. Central Wisconsin. It is 41f degrees now and the high is being guessed as 44. The wind is blowing at 8mph but gusts are in the low 20mph.

The grandson turns 11 today, celebration at 4pm with cake and presents. His team has a hockey game at 7:30. Terry and I will be heading to campus for #1 Wisconsin Women Hockey vs St Thomas (conference cupcake). The grandson’s birthday meal out (his choice) is Monday at a Hibachi place. Thankfully he is done eating at 5 Guys

I did fine yesterday at the layout teardown. I was on the crew though that is building the 2 deck staging area in a separate room, 11 tracks wide on each level. 3 crews of 3 were tearing down the layout. Lots accomplished yesterday. He’s actually got 2 crews coming in on Thanksgiving to work on the layout. He did promise a lunch of steaks on the grill

The snow, slush and ice the area received yesterday has melted

JFK: I was in 6th grade. The nuns had us in the church praying after they heard and when the announcement was made he had died, we were sent home. No buses that I remember, we walked and a few had parents drive them. I don’t think anyone lived farther than 2 miles from the school and that was walkable. Our school district here is you are bussed if farther than 1 mile from school

Enjoy your day

Good afternoon all. Afternoon Tea please, Flo.
We are having Afternoon Tea and watching 'Frozen' with older granddaughter. Both my granddaughters know the film word for word almost. Still a firm favourite of theirs.

JFK. Arrived home from work and shortly after I heard the news.

I probably still know every word of it.

It was my daughters favorite at the time of releae. I sat for months and we watched it almost every night.

Thank goodness my computer is in our second TV room so I had some distraction. :D

Rutabagas and creamed onions,
That is interesting, I never heard of either.

We too are Irish Catholics, with 25% German Catholic mixed in on my grandfather's side. My God Mother was a teetotaler. I heard of my Mom taking a drink, but I never saw her with a drink.

The stories of my Irish great aunt's drinking were legends in our family. One story tells of her sitting in her regular seat in the saloon in East Baltimore, off Ann Street. When a car crashed through the wall hitting the table she was sitting at. Her quick reflexes save her whiskey and beer. Unharmed, she kept on drinking.

Troy, it doesn't matter what you eat on Thanksgiving Day. Thank God, the universe or whatever you choose, just be thankful for all you have.

My wife and I will be hosting our son and his wife for this Thanksgiving. I may have a friend and his wife coming too, but you never know with him.

Despite only expecting a few guests I will roast a 23lb turkey. I love turkey leftovers! In addition to the turkey, I will make way too much sauerkraut. My wife will do all the rest.
