Good morning all!

Wow! March already!

Currently 24F but with the howling wind, it feels like 6F. The cold is back for a couple of days.

Today is my wife's Birthday. She doesn't want to do a whole lot. We will be going to dinner at an Italian restaurant tonight.

Not much else going on at this point, but I'm sure that will change

Have a safe Saturday everyone!

Good Morning All. Clear here with 46°, a little chillier than predicted. Looking at mid-70's again today thru Tuesday. Nice weather will mostly continue according to the weather folks, although they have now added light showers for tomorrow night along with the early morning showers that have been in Tuesday's forecast for a week now. Looks like this early Spring weather will continue for at least another ten days with no more freezes predicted for that time frame. It can still happen as our average last freeze date is 3-17 or so.

Another mostly outdoor day yesterday, I did some spot mowing and watered the garden row that I planted Thursday. I also planted 30 small pots with Tomato seed that I brought inside for germination and under the lights growing. 18-Early Girl variety and 12 of a variety that I had not heard of before called Box Car Willie, an heirloom variety. Yep, it is named after the old-time singer. Did a little trimming with the dreaded weedeater.

Wife is off today to Dallas for an appointment with the car dealer to have the license plates installed and have them fix the quirk in the rear hatch closing mechanism. Sometimes it closes when the button is pushed, sometimes not. Works more often when it's opened from the dashboard control than from the back button, but not always. Afterwards, she's going to another granddaughter dance recital and overnighting there. It's an opportunity for me to maybe do an inside project without having to pick up the tools if it lasts overnight. I'll be tilling the wood chips and compost into the rest of the garden in preparation for planting the frost sensitive crops in another three weeks. Do it now before the normal spring rains make it tougher later on. I'll probably also resume picking up the already cut firewood from the "back 40".

I made some more progress on the minor projects out in the train shed yesterday. It was spurred on a bit by finding a "window dressing" kit during my foraging through boxes last week.

They're actually centered, but the picture distorts it a bit. Since I had it on the workbench, I added a sidewalk and foundation.

It's easier to run the sidewalk under the building and add the .040" strips for a foundation than it is to trim the sidewalk to fit into the recesses and glue it to the front.
Dug out my last bottle of Polly S Concrete paint and painted everything.

Note that this is another bar. They're popular on my layout. I already have 14 of them scattered throughout the 11 towns.
To be continued after I get further.

Pizza - Love it but only eat it a couple of times a year now since I started counting carbs. Wife used to make a killer pizza sauce from my homegrown Tomatoes. Haven't found a low-carb dough yet that tastes better than cardboard.
I had a vendor from Western Pennsylvania take me to lunch at a pizza joint one day years ago. He ate his with a fork and knife!
Jay - I still have trouble with highway markings on my layout. I have recently been playing with some 1/16" automotive pin-striping tape with some success. Markings that I previously did with a fine-tip paint pen gave me mixed results, although mostly negative.
Todd - There are a couple of really good shots of Chet's turntable in one of the videos on his you tube channel, but I haven't had time to look and see which one. He has a wealth of structures still left after I got a dozen or so from him, and he has a lot of mid-50's vehicles. I didn't get any structures related to passenger travel or other rail served industries except Robert's Millwork. I believe that I got all animals, figures and deciduous trees. Conifers just don't fit my region. Unfortunately all of his rolling stock is too old for my era. I received a text from him Monday or Tuesday. We speak regularly. He and I align politically.
Troy - That BBQ'd meatloaf looks interesting. I may just have to try that. Wife is concerned that it would fall through the grill, but I pointed out that it's just really a giant hamburger.
Patrick -
Updating servers and it's going slow. They seem to take longer and longer...Or it's just I'm getting impatient.
No, it's because it's Saturday and the servers are out to ruin your day.

Everyone have a great and safe Saturday. Welcome to the weekend.

There is a neat trick to cooking a meatloaf on a grill.

Line the loaf pan with either kling-wrap, or waxed paper. Build your loaf in the pan as normal

FREEZE the loaf for at least 4 hours before cooking.

Light the grill and get the loaf out of the freezer. If you use Klingon-wrap it takes a while to loosen from the pan. Remove loaf from pan

Coat with BBQ sauce and some rub.

It took about 3 hours to bake at 275-ish. Went for an internal temp of 165.

Willie did you order the girls in tight fitting pants to be hanging out there yet.

I'm back, long month of snow and work. I think I was at work more than at home. If it wasn't snowing the wind was blowing which causes the drifting in the roads and you're out there every 2 hours. Pics from the back yard, first 2 were the begining of the month next 3 were middle of the month. Using the snow blower on the Bobcat to open up the walking path in the park before the rain snow mix a couple days later (would've made it tough to move wet snow drifts) Last is today snow is melting. Hopefully now that I'm caught up on sleep maybe I can get to the train room today, I forgot what I was doing a month ago.

Figured you were out doing snow fighting work. Hope you can relax

Golf at 1 pm was a false alarm. When I got there, they said the course was just too wet even with no carts. With that I decided to hook up all the signal wires controlled by the tortoise switch machines. It's not an easy job but being the Digitrax signal decoder boxes are $92.00 each and I don't know how many I would need I'm doing the manual hook up.
