Good Morning Folks. 76° and clear with 42% humidity to start my day. Out in the train shed, I got the planned benchwork done and today I hope to install the backdrop board. Outside, I will continue my yard mowing project that I started yesterday...about half done.
Dave (LASM) - I remember Old Milwaukee as well. Around here it was three quarts for $1 in the 60's. Just had to know someone who was 21!
Louis -
45000 acres!!! I can't even wrap my mind around something that big!
That ain't nothing around Texas!!!

Love the National Lampoon wagon. I had a chance to see ATSF 3571 in person about 20 years ago. They had it in Ft Worth and ran it up to the wye at "Dalton Junction" near me to turn it around. I regularly railfan at that spot and have for many years.
Chet - Not to be misunderstood, but I have had several layouts over the last 30 years, this is just the first/last in this new building. I did salvage 80+ structures from the last one. At least I had access to several very good hobby shops in the DFW area including Bobbye Hall's Hobby House, when it was still open. I started going there in the early 60's to buy Revell model cars, but soon noticed that she devoted more space to trains.
Garry - Another great picture of your scenery and trains.
Ken - If you read this before you leave, have a good and safe trip.
Terry - Get well soon. A good hot toddy should help in the meantime.
Curt - Gotta love that sense of humor.
Lately, I have been finding fresh holes throughout my yard, and have not trapped anything in my trap. If it was an opossum, then the marshmallow bait would draw it instantly. In this case, three nights and nothing. Then I spotted the perpetrator.
Unfortunately there is no bait for trapping these things. They only eat worms and grubs that they actually dig up themselves. It's known as a "Nine Banded Armadillo" and it is the official "Texas State Small Mammal". They can be trapped by placing the trap at the entrance to their "sleeping burrow", which I haven't found. They do have extremely poor eyesight.
Everyone have an awesome day.
