Running Bear's Coffee Shop LV

This is my son's sense of humor

Pennsy vs Godzilla, now that is a monster movie I want to see!

Louis: That's Earl, Brother! Losing to Minnesota.......not good....

There will never be another Earl! I have had parents chastise me for not being like Earl when managing little league teams. I never show up an umpire or a player.

That was a tough loss, especial after traveling to play one make up game. Oh well back to the AL east now and it's time to make some hay!

How about Kim? He is a line drive machine!

We are off to a good start! Orioles up by 2 after the top of the first! Hold that, Bautista just hit a big fly! 2-1 O's this could get crazy if the pitchers can't keep the ball out of the middle.

Have a good night Everybody!

Good evening shop dwellers,

This may be the last post you see from me until August 7 - I just remembered that the palce I'm going to [my SIL's "summer cottage"] has no internet access. And I do NOT have a "smart" phone either, so I'll be totally off the grid. I do plan to visit with Rex and Eric while I'm down there.

Sorry but I have to cut this short, since I haven't even started packing yet and we have to leave at 5am.

Adios amigos!

Good morning Everybody!

77 with 85% humidity under clear skies in southeast Baltimore.

Have a great day Everybody!

Good morning , coffee lovers. Starting at 78-humid-going up to 94 with POSSIBLE t/s later. Same-o, Same-o

Prayers and Blessings,

Phil

Good morning. It's overcast and 74.
It seems I got an unexpected bonus from my time mingling with the elements of the judicial system. Too early to tell what it is for sure, but it acts like the flu. Sore throat, coughing, sneezing, nausea, diarrhea, chills...

Good Morning Folks. 76° and clear with 42% humidity to start my day. Out in the train shed, I got the planned benchwork done and today I hope to install the backdrop board. Outside, I will continue my yard mowing project that I started yesterday...about half done.
Dave (LASM) - I remember Old Milwaukee as well. Around here it was three quarts for $1 in the 60's. Just had to know someone who was 21!
Louis -
45000 acres!!! I can't even wrap my mind around something that big!
That ain't nothing around Texas!!!

Love the National Lampoon wagon. I had a chance to see ATSF 3571 in person about 20 years ago. They had it in Ft Worth and ran it up to the wye at "Dalton Junction" near me to turn it around. I regularly railfan at that spot and have for many years.
Chet - Not to be misunderstood, but I have had several layouts over the last 30 years, this is just the first/last in this new building. I did salvage 80+ structures from the last one. At least I had access to several very good hobby shops in the DFW area including Bobbye Hall's Hobby House, when it was still open. I started going there in the early 60's to buy Revell model cars, but soon noticed that she devoted more space to trains.
Garry - Another great picture of your scenery and trains.
Ken - If you read this before you leave, have a good and safe trip.
Terry - Get well soon. A good hot toddy should help in the meantime.
Curt - Gotta love that sense of humor.

Lately, I have been finding fresh holes throughout my yard, and have not trapped anything in my trap. If it was an opossum, then the marshmallow bait would draw it instantly. In this case, three nights and nothing. Then I spotted the perpetrator.

Unfortunately there is no bait for trapping these things. They only eat worms and grubs that they actually dig up themselves. It's known as a "Nine Banded Armadillo" and it is the official "Texas State Small Mammal". They can be trapped by placing the trap at the entrance to their "sleeping burrow", which I haven't found. They do have extremely poor eyesight.

Everyone have an awesome day.

Willie

Good morning. Started off at 58 degrees with 35% humidity but already up to 72.

Waiting for my crew, grand son, SIL and my son. We're hoping to get all of the taping and mud work done today so sanding and painting can be done next weekend.

Supposed to get into the low 90's this afternoon.

Good morning gang
Doing some landscape and drainage work at SWMBO'S office this morning. Sweating my tail off, just came in the a/c for a break.
Oops, boss sez break time is over!

L8ter!

Howdy ..

Some interesting photos here from you guys recently.

Chet ... I like the V&T photo. I'm impressed with the pure blue sky too....

WIllie .... That's an ugly critter on your property.

Beady ... I like the museum photo. The plow is impressive, but I focussed on the DT&I wood caboose, and I like it.

Curt .... LOL .... That is a creative scene with that old politician holding up the boxcar.

Ken .... Safe travels to you. Looking forward to your return.

Eric .... As we all are, I'm concerned about you. I have a suggestion. I suggest you call the doctor's office where you were diagnosed, and ask if they can help you line up with Medicaid. They may have a phone contact for you to call to get the assistance you need. It won't hurt to ask the doctor''s office that question. I find most people are willing to try helping.

Everybody ...... Thanks for comments on my scene with the GN train. I have taken several photos in that location of my layout.

Terry I am sorry to hear you are sick, insult to injury. Stay out of the heat and get lots to drink. Hopkins did a study years ago proving chicken soup can shorten the length you suffer from a cold. They can't pin point why, but the one constant among all the different types of soups that worked was chicken. Even Campbell's chicken soup worked.

I make great chicken soup but its a bit of a drive for me to you. My both of my grandsons love it! I call it chicken butt soup because I use everything left over to make the stock. The second time my oldest grandson had it he told me "I got sick from it Pop" I told him "just shut up and eat it! You can't bull shit pop". Now he never gives me trouble and often asks for it. He gives my daughter a fit about eating, but not me :)

I hope you feel better soon Terry.

Willie those articles give new meaning to the old saying "everything is bigger in Texas" Thanks for posting them, very interesting to an East coast guy. I had no idea!

I love those Vacation movies, Christmas Vacation is my favorite!

We have critters, but here in Baltimore City they are rats, some are bigger then cats! My Beagle, Tucker goes on rat patrol every night before bed. I have to call him 2 or 3 times to get him to come in. Normally he comes right away. The neighbor feeds the birds, at least he thinks he does. I tried to tell him it's not a good idea to feed them after dark. I had a rat chew a hole through my heavy plastic trash can! A poison trap solved that problem.

That is a great crew you have Chet, the apple does not fall far from the tree. I suspect your humidity will be low so the drying process won't take too long before sanding begins.

Be careful Karl we don't have the advantage of low humidity like Chet does. "It's not the heat it's the humidity" stay in Maryland for a few days and you will get tired of hearing that!

No Baseball for me today, I gave my team a week off to go to the ocean. I'll find something to do. I did get my tracks cleaned off so it's a good day to play with my new toys once I finish a few chores that are waiting on me

Happy Saturday!

I suggest you call the doctor's office where you were diagnosed, and ask if they can help you line up with Medicaid.

The diagnosing Dr. was the oral surgeon based on the biopsy report. Cancer treatment is far beyond their purview of practice.
It was he who said the place they are referring me to do have people to help..... which is turning not to be the case in my case.

Morning guys: It's 80 at 9 AM going to 91 they say. Yesterday was 98 and about 65% humidity for most of the day. Really made a marked difference in how hot it felt outside. That kind of humidity we are NOT accustomed too!

Sure enjoy reading about everything that everyone is up too .. bunch of busy beavers for sure. Not going to try and list everyone, but rest assured that I read all of your posts and look at all the pictures. Willie: I will comment on your wildlife. My father caught an armadillo out on his job in the oil field and brought it home for me to see when I was about 6 years old. He had it under a bucket in the back of his P/U. Poor thing must have been terrified .. when he lifted the bucket off of it ... it took off like a scalded cat! I can still see it waddling and running off. Funny how some things stay with us forever.

About the only wildlife we get around here is an occasional possum and too damn many coyotes. People always posting notices on the mailbox looking for lost/missing cats and small dogs. Supposedly against the law to fire a gun in the county except at a range, but I catch one of those SOB's in my back yard and he's dead - I have seen them walking down the street. We had a pretty large possum for several weeks that I saw from the upstairs bedroom window - then about a week ago I saw where someone had run over it in the street. Hated to see that!

OK .. have to get busy myself. Got "BUBBA" parked in front of the house. Taking off for Big Bear lake in the morning with Spousal Unit, two dogs, two daughters, three grandsons, and assorted bicycles. Ought to be an interesting four/five days.

I went over to the Casino last night for a while to cool off which I did and was talking with one of their security guards I've gotten to know who lives up at Bass Lake 19 miles North of my place and at an elevation of 3,415 Ft., and he said it was 113* degrees there yesterday!

How I hate this hot weather !

Sherrel: Enjoy your trip to Big Bear, Sounds like Bubba is really going to be loaded. I guess you got all the bugs worked out?

Lots of interesting pictures as of late too.

OMG, I think I just heard a spotter plane buzz overhead, hope there's not a fire in the area?

I just came in from doing some watering of the grass area near the family room porch so my cat buffy will have a cool place to lay and I also checked and No Fire anywhere I could see thank goodness.

But is it every hot out there in the sun. Thank goodness for a nice breeze blowing !
