Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 65°, same old weather forecast continues. No complaints except for the total lack of rain.
Last night, we tried a new recipe for homemade vinegar-based coleslaw. Instead of vinegar, we used Lime juice. WOW! Really good. It went well with the Cajun-style baked chicken wings. It was a total low-carb meal with Raspberries as well.
I spent part of yesterday refilling the new refrigerator and freezer with the stuff that I didn't put back Friday evening; then rearranging stuff that wifey didn't like. Laundry filled out the household chores before I stacked some previously cut firewood.
Had to quit reading news stories yesterday. It was getting boring with all the finger-pointing about FEMA, all of the trash talk from politicians, the anticipation regarding the Middle East and the general malaise about life in America. I had to go out to the train shed where all of the citizens are jovial, although rigid.
Speaking of the train shed, I spent most of my time out there yesterday overhauling a trio of locomotives, 2-GP60M's and a GP60B. They were running sluggishly on Friday and I noticed that I hadn't done any maintenance on them since purchasing them in 2008 or so. They are all Athearn RTR locos that run in a lash-up together, usually pulling a unit grain train or intermodal train. Dismantled them, cleaned out the old Chinese grease from the trucks, cleaned up contact points (axle bearings etc) and re-greased the gears with Labelle #6. Cleaned wheels with my Kadee / Speedi Driver Cleaner and they were good to go.
Afterwards, I got out the last unfinished Mini Prints figure that I have and cleaned up the flash in preparation for painting.
She'll join up with one of my other sets of bicyclists already on the layout to make a trio.
She'll probably fit in best with the 2nd pair.
David - Every cat that we ever owned was a "drop-off" that wandered to our house. All were "barn-cats" who lived outdoors, usually in the barn, but one lived under the house his whole life with us.
Terry - Stay safe.
Everyone have a wonderful Sunday.
