No, I'm not at all surprised about this. MSN, which is my home page, is warning me about the life-threatening hurricane approaching. I clicked on it, thinking it was about Sara, the current storm. No, it's talking about Milton, which was here and gone a month ago.
Some good news, though. The NHC has decided the current storm will likely dissipate over the Yucatan peninsula after doing to that area what Helene did to North Carolina. At least, I think it's good news. It's good news for me here, anyway.

Good morning all!

wish you all a great friday and soon a great weekend.

Those are great locomotives. I have a modeling friend who received his 2 and loves them. They will appear in the Continuous Weathering thread within the next 8 weeks

Good Morning All. Clear and 44° here. Interesting because me and the three closest Weather Underground stations are reporting 44°, but all of the ones over 8 miles away to the south and southeast are reporting 37°! Must have been that bonfire next door yesterday. NWS is still sticking with the rain forecast for Monday.

Grocery trek went OK yesterday, prices still seem stable. Gas around town continues on that oddball roller coaster ride and has risen again to $2.79/gal. Rural convenience store nearest me is holding steady at $2.64/gal. We had to add car wash to our list after the ash coating that it received yesterday morning, thankfully it was over by the time that we returned.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I interspersed running trains with some work on the Boy Scout camp scene. I applied ground cover over most of the area up to the warehouse on the left.

The toothpicks mark where I drilled holes for mounting the trees. I'll be adding more plus some scrub trees.

Haven't started the small area to the right next to the cement distributor. I'll do it when I plant the cement silos.

Joe - Hope that you get some rain soon. I'm used to droughts here, but folks in the Northeast seem to be having a harder time with fires in all of the wrong places.

Not much else to comment on this morning, as most of yesterday's posts were for Karl and his computer! Good luck Karl.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday.

Good morning from Wisconsin where the weather rut continues. Mid 40’s waking up (45 now) mid 50’s later ( they are guessing 56) and calm breezes.

Terry’s cataract surgery was cancelled yesterday after she failed her morning cardio and breathing exams. Her years of smoking have started to catch up with her. Cararact surgery was re-scheduled for March 3rd and 2 weeks later on St Patrick’s day 3/17. The pressure in the eyes was too much yesterday caused they believe by the recent medicine adjustments.

Hockey on TV (BigTen+) this afternoon at 5 between the UW #1 ranked women versus #2 Ohio State. These 2 teams in the last 5 years have won the NCAA Championship with the Badgers winning 3, 2023, 2021 and 2019. The best Wisconsin team we have seen was denied a chance as they were getting on the plane in 2020, the world was cancelled due to Covid. Ohio State is exceptional winning in 2024,1-0 versus the Badgers and 2022. Should be a great game

I’ve been busy and will be adding to both Continuous weathering threads this weekend

Enjoy the day

Those are really nice engines. I've had them in HO and N scales, and liked them. You may need to replace the factory-installed couplers, as they work "okay", but aren't as good as genuine Kadee couplers.
Before the handrail "takes a set", 1405 needs one of the stanchions put back in its hole on the side sill.

@TLOC will have to look out for those, because iam thinking about to try weathering those two.

@bnsf971 will check on the loco when iam back home yes, some other viewers also spotted that "problem" about the couplers, i also noticed that yesterday when i did try to couple the box car to the engine. have to check if they send some with the engine or if i have to order seperate.

If you decide on replacement couplers, I would recommend these, they work like Kadee couplers (because they are), are easier to install, and look a lot better than the standard couplers:

Ah. MSN. Today (15th November) they say the Princess of Wales will be at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday (10th November).

Got PT in a bit, then mowing the yard and the furnace guy coming to service our now 10 year old furnace. We have it serviced every year.
That actually reminded me I have to get ours done, haven't done that yet.

Usually we get a postcard (friendly reminder) in the mail with a "service special" from the place that installed it at the end of October.

It could of came, and inadvertently gotten mixed in with the weekly business mailer and tossed in the recycle bin.

I've gotten fewer and fewer of those letters or postcards. A lot of them are going to direct email marketing (spam), though I've questioned what they do if there is no email on file...

On an unrelated note, I received no bill from a doctor for a visit, and after nearly 6 months I gave them a call to see if there was a balance, or if my insurance had paid. No, my insurance hadn't paid, and I had been sent to collections because I never paid the bill. I never got a bill in the mail. The response was, "we emailed you the bill". Really? What email address did you send it to? "Umm... There's no email on file for you"... There was no apology, and the collection service likewise had emailed the collection notices to "null". I had to jump through a few hoops to get this taken off my credit report, and I started monitoring that more closely.
