Good afternoon to all.........................

I haven't posted in a couple of days. I had some non-model railroading things to do for a couple of days and yesterday I felt great in the morning but as the day wore on, I stated wearing down. I just didn't have the energy to work on the layout yesterday. I'm a little more enthusiastic today and hope to get all track laying finished on both mainlines finished up today. An old friend of mine who has a 3D printer said he would print me up a golden spike for this momentous event........in HO scale no less. 🤪
So, when the two mainlines are finished today (turn-outs are located but spur lines remain to be finished) on the upper level, this gives me mainline running on the upper level, running down the helix and around the staging level. My main level or middle level still needs benchwork to be done on a 25 foot by 4 foot wide peninsula and benchwork along a 30 foot long wall. Lots of wood work left on the main level but shooting to have it done by the end of August. At my age time is becoming extremely valuable and I hate to loose a day of work on the RR on those low energy days.

On latest up-dates to the forum, all is working well on my end. I have an ad blocker so no ads for distraction.

Everyone have a great weekend..........John

Afternoon all,

Busy morning, as I had grandkids over and we got the yard mowed, leaves and small limbs cleaned up, the apple tree and peach tree stumps taken out. I was also able to get the garden tilled up, mixing in the rabbit stuff that the granddaughters pet rabbit creates.

Still have to start the sprinkler system so I can get it inspected, spread the first round of crabgrass preventer and spray the dandelions that are laughing at me because I couldn't get them last year due to the 2 shoulder surgeries last year.

Welp... Operation Sink or Cuss was a success!
Only minor cussing was involved.

Made it with only TWO (and a half) trips to the hardware. One to get the faucet, One to get the Silicone Caulk. The half was realizing I forgot my wallet on the second trip. So a turn-around half-way there.

Wife asked why I couldn't use any of the stuff I have stashed under the MRR layout... Cause it's not bathroom caulk, sweetie. MRR caulk for laying track is 3.99 a tube. Bathroom caulk is 11.99 a tube.

But the deed is done.

And yes, there are some things I will pay a plumber for. Swapping out a faucet isn't one of those jobs yet. The toughest part of the job was getting the drawers out of the vanity, since it's shoved up tight into a corner, and my fingers were too fat to get in there and push the lever on the drawer slide.

Been trying to think of additional details that I could add to the layout. I noticed
my workbench trash can is a 5 gallon bucket. Light bulb moment-don't have any
on the layout and they could be anywhere.

Don't remember seeing them for sale anywhere and I don't have a 3d printer.
Found some 5/32" brass tubing at Hobby Lobby. A 3/16" long piece is about
the size for HO scale bucket. Solder one end closed and a coat of paint.

The five gallon bucket is right at home next to the welding outfit. Now to make a bunch more other areas on the layout.

You had it easy. My daughter bought a house, and it needed a new faucet. No problem, says I. Then I found that whoever tried to stop the drip, had put some kind of goo, all over the threads for the faucet. Spent the better part of the day, trying to get the faucet fastener off. Needless to say that old faucet is still flying over Apache Junction, where I threw it after gettin it off.

Good morning from a soon to be wet Wisconsin. Radar shows the rain should be arriving any minute now. It is 37f degrees heading to 43.

The grandson plays hockey at 8:15 and we will watch on a streaming app. The UWWomen get to prove they are #1 in the NCAA championship Frozen 4 at 3.

Ms. Grumpy is someone I will avoid today. Not sure what I did but it got real cold here yesterday when I mentioned her cataract surgery at. 6:30am Monday. That and I guess I ate for lunch yesterday one of the meals made up for Monday night dinner. Ah, women!

Enjoy the day

What it sounds like you're saying is, your wife thinks you don't pay attention, or something...

I always pay attention. But I selectively chose what to respond to. Besides what man really understands his wife even after 50+ years together and married for 48

She forgets I had cataract surgery and know what she’s going through. Recovery is easy it’s just annoying to her she some limitations or restrictions she has to follow. She’s watching the stream of the grandson hockey game this morning. That will take her mind away from tomorrow

Good afternoon all. Afternoon Tea please, Flo.

Thank you for the Prayers and wishes gentlemen. Much appreciated.
The procedure went well. The recovery is taking much longer than last time.

Daughter and grandchildren visited this morning. It was good to see them.

Back later

Good morning all!

Currently 43F but with the wind it feels like 25F. Its only going to rise to 46F. I see some rain heading our way later this morning.

Yesterday was a busy day, so not much time spent here, We ended up cleaning the inside and out of both cars yesterday. Took a bit more time than thought, but its done now. Got the laundry and grocery shopping done as well. Had Dinner with my parents last night.

My wife is getting ready to head out of town tomorrow for 3 days of work meetings in Springfield.. Daughter and I will be going it alone till Wednesday.

Not sure what else today will bring but best not look too comfortable, or the wife will find something.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Mostly clear and 62°, still windy out of the south at 24 mph. No changes in our forecast, upper 80's until Wednesday and then three days of rain and clouds. Still reasonably warm though.

Nothing special about yesterday on the home front, used the push mower and did various things in the garden. Picked up another load of firewood but I haven't unloaded or trimmed it yet. Two previous loads remain piled next to the stacks. Today starts with the dishwasher again.

I've posted before about the state rebuilding one of the roads from town to our place. The project totally ruined the rural atmosphere of that area that it's going through. The area used to look like this.
20250320_115431.jpg

It now looks like this, unfinished right now but you get the idea.
20250320_115128.jpg

Went from a 2 lane rural road to a 5 lane road with center left lane. Note the sidewalks on the right side, those on the left are barely visible. This is pastures that this road is going through! Cows & horses don't use the sidewalks. The structure at the top of the hill next to the road on the left will be removed when it is done; it is the offices and some bins for the construction company. It will revert back to pastureland. That area on the left happens to be where the restaurant chain "Medieval Times" boards their horses on a 1200 acre ranch. The main reason for widening is development further west and southwest. I'm 7 miles north and there's no signs that the development will move in our direction. The current development is on the far side of a two mile wide flood plain which cannot be developed.

Not a whole lot of time out in the train shed yesterday, so I only moved some stuff out of the way in preparation for moving some detail parts cabinets to the new central location nearer the workbench. They're currently randomly placed as they were installed as the benchwork was built. Workbench was installed last as I just used unused benchwork as a workbench as I got the layout built. Does this make sense? It's a long overdue project.

Troy - I take offense at the "grumpy old fart male modeler" club statement. I am a grumpy young fart male modeler!
Wives seem to have a rather simplistic view on plumbing (and electrical) repair, always beginning with "Why can't you just ...".
Mike - Those annoying scams are as hard to block as the political texts and E-Mails that I was getting before the election. I could block them and they would return with a different number just like the MacAfee anti-virus folks.
Marlin - Totally agree with the pro plumber for any job underneath now. I used to do them whenever needed but now call the "Jolly Dream Team".
Swal - I'm totally aware of the income tax on Social Security thing. I have gone a few years without paying any taxes. I supplement the SS with non-taxable retirement account withdrawals and savings/money market accounts which are also not taxable. Note that the interest earned on those cash accounts is taxable, but it doesn't bring us up to the taxable level yet. This year and future ones will be a bitch since I have to start taking taxable RMD's which will put us into a much higher tax bracket.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

A good Sunday morning to all. It's clear and 22 in Cheyenne this am. Winds are from the SW @ 10 gusts to 12mph. High for today 52, low tonight 42. The usual high winds watch is in effect. Looking for warmer temps next week; possibly into the low 70s.
Yesterday was too cold and windy for me to get out so I skipped the Club session.
Today is raceday, full slate of F1, Indy car, and NASCAR. M'boy Lando won last week in Australia - good show lad!
Got some workbench time in yesterday, working on a couple of boxcars and a track board for photos. Wrapped up the day watching Noir Alley on TCM.

late night at the workbench...

David: You are in our thoughts and prayers. 🙏

Y'all have a good day and take care.
