I had to stop all model railroading until I get the new bathroom done. I decided not to do the sheet rocking and taping. I hired that part of the job out to a contactor for a $1,000.00. After watching so many videos of tile showers leaking because of nails or screws perforating the vinyl pan waterproofing I decided to make a nail & screw free curb. The only fasteners will be on the outside, none on the inside or top.
Swal

my conservatory gets hot!
My barn/multipurpose shed gets hot! worse since adding the solar panels.
~officially UK had record breaking 40 degrees centigrade last year. They should check out my thermometers,
Plus the conservatory has been a rocking 50 degrees centigrade, oops forgot to leave the windows open when I walked in from the house it was so hot and like a sauna I had to gasp for air retreat then run in and open the fort, wait open the windows and turn on the overhead fan, plus when the heat swells the doors can be almost impossible to open!
Ihave other thermometers than record these high temps but the barn is the one I photograph.
Luckily when it’s that hot there is loads of solar and we run air conditioning and a host of fans.

Fires, not the likes of the USA but still damn scary.

And we are still be warned of a potential Beast from the. east massive cold front (actually a lottery but it ends up somewhere around the world) but we have had minus 9 degree centigrade several times, but minus 5 is usually our worst. I don’t think we have had worse than 6 inches 150mm here though.

And totally missed was the fact they turned on both network cards in the email server and the email filter device couldn't figure out which network address to send stuff to...once the wrong interface was turned off, email caught up.....Finally have ALL services back to normal and some needed security updates off the wish list as they are now complete. Now maybe I can take a nap after lunch 😆

My buddy called me last night from Haslet TX. He said his son went out to work did a 360 on the highway and got of the 1st exit and headed back home lol.
Haslet (about 40 miles south of me) was in the middle of yesterdays sleet storm, I am not surprised. Fortunately it did not reach us here. Right now, it's raining and water is dripping off the roof. It's probably freezing on the ground on top of Monday's sleet, but I am not venturing out to check until I decide whether I am headed for the train shed this afternoon.

Have you slept at all this last two weeks?

too bad it does not have the "lightning" stripe - that was my favorite.
today is the day of imfamy. Back in 1968 the PRR and NYC merged to form the PC.

Sherrel: Thank you. Pre-op went well. Conference with PA concerning statistical probabilities and possible Pacemakers, alleviated my concerns.

Curt: Infamy? perhaps, then again maybe not. After all this time, I'm not sure...after all, the PRR was financially shakey and mismanaged, (Symnes and Bevan). Otherwise, merger with the NYC would not have been necessary. PC's failure led to the formation of Conrail, one of the most successful businesses and railroads ever.

I was working the Fireman's Extra List, in Wilmington, DE, on 01/31/1968. When I finished my shift it was still the PRR, and no one was sure whether the merger was going to happen or not. The next morning, I was called for crew 7A, at the South end of Edgemoor Yard. Everything, the sign up sheet, the timecard, the switching orders, everything said Pennsylvania Railroad, but something was different. Radio calls were initiated with "Penn Central", not "Pennsylvania"...and all the management people were under orders to personally contact each crew, and remind us it was now to be referred to as the "Penn Central". Nothing unusual happened on that day, but soon after, our starts on the Fireman's list, suddenly declined from twice / day to every other day, as cost containment ventures were implemented.

It tough to leave some groups, you got us here though
True, and there I was always under pressure to put out new stuff,it became quite stressful, so leaving faceache was not a hardship, and I know the guy I gave it to is a great scratch builder and it helps him get business so he has endless new stuff, some of my real life friends are still mods there, and they say everything is good.
here is much more relaxed,as there is was just railway and almost exclusively 00,although I encouraged all scales plus the real stuff, and preservation.
And I was often asked the same questions over and over and unlike a forum, people did not search or look at the content and stuff I added,so that was really annoying. I was often cut and pasting links. so here with people who discuss railways, but share other aspects of their lives, and who can research for themselves and give me new context instead of me having to supply it is just so much nicer. Plus there was often, because of my manner then I was asked a couple of times if I was gay lol, which did not bother me but then I had to go through the yes I was a female modeller, and it was like being an exhibit in a zoo. plus I got badgered for photos of myself, luckily reallife friends would jump in and attempt to stop any stupidity.
But I did really get fed up with the ‘advertising’ ,which people would litter, and the sexual adverts and pictures and muggins got 🧼 🧽 cleanup duties.

Hi folks, I’m sort of awake. Definitely not Covid, as the home test and the Clinic testing was negative. Asked by the front desk if I was having any respiratory difficulties I said I have a cold. Thought I was getting sent to the hospital, quickly isolated and a clinical vampire came in with a Covid kit to test me in a full hazmat protective suit. Drew my blood as that is what I there for. I left through a side door. Have slept most of the day since. Feel like crap. I have a z-pack for the medicine, hopefully I will feel better tomorrow

I had a pleasant interaction with Atlas' customer service the other day.

I have a brand new 2022 version of an N scale Dash 8-40CW with a bum truck. I stripped and cleaned at least 3 times, but could not prevent the gears from locking up randomly.

I couldn't find any spare parts online anywhere, so I called their CS dept in New Jersey. I explained my dilemma. The guy offered to service it under warranty with a 5-6 week turnaround.

I said I'd rather just buy a replacement truck than wait on warranty. He said those locos were so new they hadn't got any spare parts yet, but he might be able to assemble a truck for me with parts salvaged from warranty work, but he would have to look around to see what he had. He took my name and number.

About an hour later, my phone rings, and it's him. He has 2 complete trucks, assembled, that he could sell me. For $7.50 each.

I was impressed by his follow through, and very happy with the price! I will gladly pay $15 to avoid shipping off my loco for a 6 week long repair.

I am now an Atlas customer for life!
