I have to start finishing up my income tax. I hate having to do it, but it's got to get done. I do have one problem to solve but one of the members said he would help me out with that, My carpenter golf friend is finishing up installing all the new doors I bought today and then back to getting my taxes done.
Tom I see the new USGA golf handicap rules have changed. If you only play 9 holes, they take half your handicap, add that to the course par for nine holes and make up an 18-hole score.

Interesting, I have not seen that

Thats the primary reason, that Windows became the predominant PC. My employer at the time, made the processor chips for Macs. We had Mac PCs. They were by far the best PCs. But, they were totally proprietary, and cost a lot. Microsoft, had cheap PCs, and any amateur could order some parts and build one. Apple was a graphical interface and MS had DOS. Early Windows was, to use a technical term, Poo-Poo. Win 3.1 didn't even have a TCP stack. But, windows was basically free. I think MS didn't care, because they got more systems out there. They made their money from corporate licenses, and the general users develop apps that made more people dependent on windows. Even my employer, used more pcs than Macs.

At work, I never used a PC. Went from a Mac, to Sun Workstation. Only used windoze, for games at home. Built my on pcs to be able to play at max.

Today a lot of the Windows laptops (the cool svelte lightweight ones) also have the integrated storage I believe.

Got my hairs trimmed and now I’m getting Geek Squaded. Diagnostic on the old MacBook - they say no issue’s found

Morning folks

Another fantastic, mild, clear day in SW Montana, maybe excepting those with season passes at Big Sky or Bridger Bowl. All sunshine and should hit mid 60's. I did get out on a bit of a hike yesterday with the canines. The wild flowers are few and far between as yet but there were a few prairie buttercups making a go of it.

My train related activities were confined to going through my collection of Timber Times and Tall Timber Short Line magazines checking for what was missing. There are a couple of swap meets at the end of the month I'm planning on making an appearance at.

Morning folks...

We are under some weather the next 3 days including today. Mother nature cannot make up her mind on snow rain mix or ice or whatever!

So in short it is messy here in upstate NY. Mostly wet. I intended to get my boat out this weekend as I am late at doing that after having 27 inches of snow last week. Which is mostly gone now as the temps keeps fluctuating at abnormal levels.

I recently uploaded 3 videos to my YT for the 3 locomotive acquisitions. Quite happy with them. The prices were definitely great for the added power to my stables. My buddy Andy came over and we started to remove "STUFF" off one section my layout to start the yard layout/ladder tracks. I will be moving at a snails pace but it will get done.

My trip to UK, Scotland and Wales was fantastic. I really enjoyed all the castles and cities that I went to and the country sides of course. We went to Edinburgh, Scotland for 2 days. We spent time at Johnny Walkers Distillery, Edinburgh Castle and downtown sites etc. Saw the crown jewels at the castle. Went to Wales and saw 4 castles there, the coast, and a few shops and taverns. We went to Bathe, Bristol, Stonehenge, London, and Windsor as well as many other places. It was a great time.

My next trip in the fall will be Ireland and Finland. Next year I will go to Italy for 2 weeks. After that I dunno what.

Hope everyone is doing alright. I will pop back in later when time permits with my busy schedule.

Good morning All!!!!
Prayers and strength to those in need. Myself included.
Bill, I love the endless railroad photos you share.
NP #720 looked to be steady and strong, way back when.
Bob, the door in here swung easy enough.
Lights are bright too.
Thanks for making the magic beans behave.
Flo, I have no idea what I want.
Well, seeing how you're all dolled up, I guess I do. :)

Good afternoon all. A glass of apple juice please, Flo.

Dawn was listening to the radio and the
presenter mentioned fifty years of ABBA and 'Waterloo'. Dawn asked me where was I fifty years ago?
Wow!!! A trip down memory lane. ---

A time when I could ---

Train to Dover and ferry to Ostend, Belgium.
Then began hitch-hiking to anywhere. Always stayed in hotels though.
It was a couple of hours before someone stopped and took me to Brussels.

Luxembourg City, such a lovely place. It was in a cafe there I met a rather pretty girl. I have mentioned the story before, but to tell again -. I was having a meal when she entered. Unfastening her rucksack and looking at the menu she ordered 'a ton of food'. (Maybe not a ton, but it was a lot.) When it arrived it was a case of seeing how much she could eat? Failing miserably and paid for he meal she began to leave. I followed her out and we began talking. Apparently, having not eaten for a long time, that was the reason for the large order. We talked some more, but as her journey was coming to the end and mine beginning we said our goodbyes and parted in different directions.

Somehow I arrived in Strasbourg. Such a beautiful city. A city that has a piece of my heart.

Neunkirchen in Germany. Party night in the hotel. It was always party night there.

Italian Tyrol. A brief visit that brought memories of a previous visit

Back through Germany and Cologne. The cathedral, so magnificent. Outside the cathedral I met a married couple from California.

Through the Netherlands to the Hook of Holland and ferry home to England.
It was in the Netherlands where I bought the record 'Waterloo' by ABBA.

Good Morning All!
48F @ 74% and partly. Some rain last night ... need it.

So I was out watching the grass grow with camera. How about a couple animal shots?

IMGP0934.JPG

Fluffy - usually in some sort of box. Fell asleep in the bottom as it was warm.

IMGP0937.JPG

Callie and Munch(kin) checking out Maria's new rose bushes.

IMGP0927.JPG

Bob being Bob.

IMGP0939.JPG

Jake and Lizzy. Jake is now taller than Lizzy, but less mass. Give it time.

Later!

No issues other than randomly deleting half your stuff...
It was the login loop of death...

I'm curious if a SSD can be corrupted, but that only shows if there's data there? I ended up reformatting the drive... and still couldn't get the OS to load.

And the load worked fine in the Geek space...

Advice was take it home and give it light use to see if I can replicate the problem...

I have about had it with the weather in NY. Overcast and Cold, Cold, Cold every day. I would like to go over to the golf course without having to wear my heated vest one time. The ball goes nowhere hitting into to a cold wind. I need to get out of this house and have some fun outside exercise. Trains will have to wait until next year.

Appointment with the Ear, nose, & throat specialist for a long overdue hearing test. Stayed up all night studying for it and still flunked.
My selective hearing has turned into defective hearing. Both ears need hearing aids.

With all the different styles of hearing aids available, any thoughts on any types to stay away from?

Afternoon All,

Started off the day in the 60's and we're supposed to get strong winds and heavy rain shortly. I had a teeth cleaning mid-morning and came home and started painting parts for about 3 hours. MOH wants to go out tonight to supper but it's probably not happening due to the weather.

Has anyone heard from Joe (Boris) lately?

Patrick- Never heard of them.

Bill- Interesting photo.

David- Glad Dawn is doing better. Fifty years ago, I graduated from H.S. and joined the Navy.

TomO- Good luck to your granddaughter.

Willie- Congrats on your floor find. They sound like a great plumbing company.

Grizzled- Nice photos and great looking dog.

James- It sounds like a fun trip.

Todd- Great animal photos.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Unless you're going with VA benefits, Costco and Sams club have great deals on Hearing Aids.

My set ran $1800 with a three year waranty from Costco. Rechargable, behind the ear.

If you want to re-install windows do a Clean install. Get Partition Magic, its just a download, and remove all partitions and then re-install windows. Get all the data you want to keep from the SSD. It's good practice to keep all personal data on another drive. Only put executables on the system drive.
