A new beginning inspired from my old Central Midland Layout

A few more with a little more detail done and the lights on in the gazebo.

There are no real updates, but I bought the new "Blue Goose" from Broadway Limited. I bought it from their refurbished store and saved almost $400.00. The thing is as new as it gets. Same warranty too. I have put about 4 hours on it and it is great.

I guess my Big Boy is jealous because now I am having decoder issues with it. Oh well.

That is how I got mine too! But you know (despite what the wiki says, and as soon as one web site gets it wrong suddenly it is wrong everywhere) it was only called the "Blue Goose" by model railroaders. To the railroad it was the "Blue Bird" and to crews it was called "Mae West". Classic case of evolution of railroad terminology perversion if there ever was one.

That's a beauty! I love the BLI refurbished trains, it's the only way I can afford them.

Kind of an update : I have just received my Broadway Limited Big Boy back from repair for the 3rd time. Yes frustrating but BLI took care of me even though it was out of factory warranty. They have totally rebuilt this and it runs just fine now. Glad to have it back. Big shout out for BLI , that's why I buy them.

So what have the problems been,...mechanical or electrical??

I have a Blueline model of that engine, yet un-run.

It's been a while since I posted. I have been swamped over the past few months. I am so ready to start working on this layout again. I am not a big fan of Menards buildings, but they have a neat effect when the grandchildren see them. So since my brother owns a bowling alley, I needed to put this building on the layout. Not realistic but what the heck, the kids will love it. I will make a new sign for it soon with my brother's logo on it. I'll have to finish some details and make it look a little less toylike.

What a difference it makes to spend about 45 minutes to modify the model and do some details around it. Even though it is still toylike, it looks so much better with some detail around it. It had a one-car parking lot area that I cut off and made it an area for a couple of cars. Now I am working on a new sign on the and back to sport my brother's bowling alley logo.

Yep a touch of scenery brings it to life.

So I put my brother's logos on the building tonight. The first picture is the actual picture of his bowling alley. You will see the "Scott's Bar & Grill" logo. That is the bar located inside that was named after my late brother Scott. The logos on the back of the building are actually there on the real building. They look just like the ones I put on the building.

I've been pretty bad about posting on this thread and I am trying to improve. I don't get as much time to work on it as much as I would like to. My double crossover at on end of my layout has been a royal pain and I decided to get rid of it. Now it is time to add that last siding I have been wanting to add for years. Ordered 4 Peco code 83 Unifrog #6 and some sections of flex and went at it. It came out pretty good. I have painted the track and rails now onto the Ballast. I'll figure out some scenes to put there. After 8 years I think that might do it for track.

Happy New Year all. Well being the party animal I am on New Year's (not), I finished the ballast and decided to try it out to see how much of a train I could park there. Seems to handle the Blue Goose and the passenger pretty well. Stuck a couple of buildings there but not sure on what is going to end up there.
