I woke up and it’s cloudy. :(. I need to work on the foundation ICF wall covering and water proofing around the window in the window well. I got the big dead thistles out and a stack of wood that had been placed in the bottom yesterday so that if you had to escape you were within 18” of the ladder. (Make city inspector happy).

Today I’m going to glue some foam sheeting to the foundation at the top of the foam so that water doesn’t go down behind it. The foam was placed along the foundation ICF before backfilling to help keep rocks from penetrating the actual ICF at backfill time.

Since we’re down below the window in the window well the top of the foam is showing. After I glue it to the side I’ll apply Semco waterproofing to the foam and the foam / wall joint and the whole foundation ICF wall up to outside the window well. Then apply the “Styro TUFF II” coating. Basically an acrylic or stucco like stuff to the hole thing. (It already was done in that area before backfill but has been damaged and sagged etc. )

I’ll pressure wash it before apply the waterproofing to make sure it’s clean. I’d hoped today would be like yesterday. Clear and blue and 85F.

Right. Ownits 70F and cloudy but it says only 10% chance of precipitation each hour except 12 noon which is 30% and starting at 5pm it clears up and shows clear and 0%. So I think I’ll risk the gluing now with some fast dry construction cement.

It says the high is 81F supposedly and sunny to prow and 82f but then like 4 days of 30-50% chance of storms or rain. That usually means one or two short episodes of rain each day.

I’ll hopefully be able to apply a coat of Semco tonight and another in the morning and be able to apply the stucco stuff tomorrow afternoon so that it can dry before any rain Sunday. I may have to wait until the middle of next week for the second stucco stuff coat and then more clear Semco on top. Then I can put gravel at the base of the window welll and be done with it.

The 10 meter band is not as active this morning as yesterday morning. It might pick up this afternoon to Europe before the terminator passes, but time will tell.

I managed to get into England, Wales, and Grand Cayman this morning. I made a contact in Germany a bit ago, but that was all I heard on the Continent.

57°F/57°F this cool morning. Cooler this morning than yesterday morning, but going to be a few degrees warmer overall today. Not hot, just warmer.

Nothing scheduled today. I'm going to check band conditions in a few minutes and see how 10 meters is doing this morning. I might be able to make a few more contacts today.

And if not, I'll probably end up in the train room.
Are those conditions the same as what CB'rs called skip. I looked forward to skip conditions. I made it to Australia, Europe and 49 of 50 States. Never got Alaska.

Most long distance 10 meter communication is the result of wave refraction from the F2 layer of the atmosphere. It is especially good this year as we are at a sunspot maximum until later next year. Sporadic E can also occur, but it's not as common as using the F2 layer.

It is likely the same thing for 11 meters, but CB is legally limited to 4 watts, or 12 on SSB which makes it very challenging to talk around the world on 11 meters at any time of the year. Of course, there are many illegal CB operators that are never caught by the FCC though they do sometimes try. Especially if they are operating out of band.

You guys have to turn your screen upside down which is annoying, but my iPad self corrects I try turning it and the s..f..thing self corrects and continues to leave it upside on the forum, i then put up 10 and then decide whether to delete the upside down ones…maybe I just need his perspective
Actually this works if it uploads correct or wrong…bonus

Back from the Doc. Got a surprise bonus:

Tetanus Shot!

Booster variety!

Along with the flu vax for this year.

Doc recommended the Covid booster, but they don't stock them. Due to needing a prescription for it, that means going to a pharmacy. He sent eh prescription over. I'll set that up for mon or tues next week. The other two shots will knock me on my butt tonight, and leave me achey across the weekend.

Stopped by the grocery. No stock of the non-prescription urinary health cat food. So the cat is winging it. But I did trade out the smaller box for the bigger one we had stored. He still pees right against the front wall of the hood on the box. At least his nose isn't pressed against the back wall while he does so.

Went on my walk, no poo found. If the vaxs don't knock me out before then, I'll take another walk this evening.

Got a Model Railroad Craftsman magazine in the mail yesterday. I'll have to see if anyone here got an article published.

Good morning, all! We awoke to 78 degrees, but a low humidity. The wind, what there is of it, is from the north and pumping in some really pleasant weather. It's supposed to last through most of next week. Looking forward to going outside and not working up a sweat just walking to the mailbox.

RhB Michael - It was with a Cobra 40 SSB. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the antenna, but it was on a tower and could be rotated. When skip conditions existed you could talk all over the world. Sometimes it would only last a minute or two. I still have the Cobra, but it only listens, finals failed. I haven't opened the box in 20 plus years.

Jaz - Didn't you have a Blue/Green/Teal heavily rusted VW in a stream/creek the last time you were here?

The wee people in Apple Ridge are wondering where the train is, as I haven't run them in over a week. Maybe today?

Time for my walk 11:15 am. Sky is blue with scattered clouds at the moment. So much for rain. It was only 10% but. Now 75F

I had to go to Home Depot this morning as the construction glue I thought I had was gone. Gorilla clear. While it says 24 hours to cure it’s a couple to paint and it’s always been rock hard for me after a couple hours. I got the foam pushed against the ICF foundation wall (against the heavy duty membrane on it) with the glue and some wood blocks pressing it. There is still a thin hap. I’ll caulk that with a fast dry window sealant. It will get the Semco over it anyway. And probably the stucco stuff.

Later today I’ll pressure wash it all and then let it dry and the. Put the first layer of Semco. I need to push the plastic flashing stuff from the window back over the foundation wall so will put Semco under it and then staple it on and then more Semco over it. Then the stucco stuff and then finally more Semco in clear. That will be good and waterproof.

Off for my walk for an hour and a late breakfast. I jave to wait extra long this morning to get my 16 hour intermittent fast time in as the wife and I went to a church thing last night and on the way home stopped at Culver’s for frozen custard. So I had a late “meal” last night. Oh well. At least I’ve been getting stuff done this morning.

By the time I got out on the walk it was 76F. Just got back about 10 min ago and it was 80F. Blue skies with scattered clouds. Sun bearing down on you. But there was a nice breeze which made it ok.

Eat something after a shower and get back to my window well work.

Turns out the daughter is off school today. I guess they had parent teacher conferences and this is some sort of teacher comp day for that or something.
