Same Ol' Buzzard
Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 65° to get our day started here. The cooler weather that was forecast for the next few days has been changed to warmer weather instead.
A welcome respite today, as it's the first day this week that I don't have to go someplace! One disadvantage about living on the edge of civilization is that everything is at least 12 miles away, with major stuff being 25 miles away. My dentist, pharmacy, bank and several very good restaurants are in the city 12 miles away, while doctors, grocery stores and Home Depot are all 25 miles. There is a convenience store/gas place that does sell beer just 6 miles down the road, but they charge highly for the beer although the gas is usually cheaper than the city places. This means that every trip takes an additional 30-60 minutes travel time.
Yesterday's grocery trek went well, wife went along and we split the store making the trip a lot quicker. Later I finished mowing the east side of the yard. Today I tackle the south side and hopefully the back yard. It takes a while to mow 3 acres with all of the obstructions, trees, pool, woodpiles, yard furniture etc., generally 3-4 hours split over a few days. Yesterday I also spent 20 minutes or so mowing along our side of the county road out front since they seem to have forgotten that our end of the road still exists. I do 240' in front of our house every 3-4 weeks, but yesterday I went 100' south since the very high grass was blocking the view of oncoming traffic when leaving our access road; even with our higher view from an SUV. Sometimes one of my retired neighbors mows that part, but he has been working part-time lately and hasn't done it. Sadly, he is 80 years old, but worked off the books for so much of his career that his SS is minimal! Like many others, he never figured out that it would affect the SS check in later years.
I did what I planned out in the train shed yesterday, repaired a few of the well cars with the broken ladders. Those that I found the parts for. I am going to have to fabricate a couple more, or just turn them around so that the broken side can't be seen. We'll see how much trouble making new ones is.
Michael - Couldn't agree more regarding the worst tasting beer in America, except Coors Light!
Troy -
Just kidding of course, I couldn't resist.
Swal - I don't golf or go to country clubs. But at my SIL's country club, he can call a mobile number and a young lady will come to whatever hole you are on, with a refrigerated golf cart loaded with various beverages; beer, wine or liquor. It can either go on your monthly bill, a credit card, or cash! Rather convenient.
Everyone have a great Friday.
