Good Morning All. Foggy and 68°, forecast is now for near 90° and PM showers. It changed from yesterday, which isn't unusual. They're also now predicting 98° for a high on Thursday. Might get to use the pool later this week after all. Had a brief shower pass through around noon yesterday that left !0.15" in the gauge. It's actually hard to read when the amount is that low.

Wife returned yesterday after three days in Dallas. Guess what? No complaints about the house! Had to take the Shark vacuum apart and clean it, so that may be why it didn't operate remotely the other day. Otherwise I mostly did nothing except grill burgers since it was Labor Day.
I need to mow, but there is such a heavy dew this morning from the fog, that it will not happen. Maybe tomorrow depending on whether it rains this afternoon. The rest of the day is unplanned.

Trainwise, I was also a bit lazy out in the train shed yesterday. I did run a lot of trains. I am in the process of deciding which engines to cull from the fleet since I have 6 new SD40-2's on pre-order with ScaleTrains coming later this fall. I need to take about 10 off the layout altogether since I didn't cull any when I received my last order. Those older but still reliable Blue Box engines are the most likely candidates.

Terry - Mechanic in but no access to part shows why company logic is an oxymoron.
John - I rent my own dumpster so it is just 30 yards away. It's a 3-yard one which is kinda big. So I collect rent from two neighbors who also use it.
Steve - Good luck with the cat.

Everyone have a great Tuesday.

How often do you need to empty the water reservoir? Is that what the green bucket is for?
Yes, but...

I expected that we'd need to have a drain hose and bucket. There is a lower reservoir to hold the drippings, or an upper outlet to let the condensation out before it drips down. Either I haven't got it configured correctly, or it's been so limited it hasn't needed to drain.

The lower tank drain is at almost floor level. The only way I can drain it is roll the unit over to the stairway, put a bucket on the first step down, and then pull the plug. I'll do that when I close it for the fall. Next year, it will be on a furniture dolly, so I have wheels, but that drain hole is high enough to access with a shallow tub.

Now, as for moisture, this is NOT the only AC on the upper floor. We have our forced air AC pushing air up there. But not enough. So, other than mornings when we shower and put moisture into the air, we're mostly dryish on that floor. We just need to cool the 82° slightly muggy air down to sleepable temps. So a lot of the drippings the unit produces probably evaporates with the heat of the condenser. But, I"m not sure if they're cooling it down with evaporative cooling or not?

69°F/54°F here this morning. When I was going to write this 45 minutes ago, AWOS was reporting 65°F, but I went down a rabbit hole on another subject and was sidetracked.

Cloudy here today. I hope it stays that way to keep the temp down. High is supposed to be only 81°F today, but I wouldn't mind at all if it stayed in the mid-70s.

Nothing planned today. Might play with the radio afterwhile.

Good morning from Wisconsin. The temperatures are coolish at 58 now (8am) cooler at 53 at wake up (6:21). We are headed to a dry 77 before the temperatures drop over night into to the 40’s and the rains begin. Highs might be mid 60’s for the next week

Seems while we were gone the grandson did the mowing but hit the water cutoff pipe between the curb and sidewalk. The pipe is fine but the gas mower isn’t and maybe dead. Is it worth spending $200 or buying a new electric for $400. I can get 18 months free financing from Home Depot or $25 off per the coupons Terry gets from them. Like I’m going to go 18 months paying off $400! But I know folks do.

The mower culprit starts 6th grade and middle school today

He doesn’t look thrilled that’s for sure. His sister starts high school later this morning but no picture yet

I have to check in with the builder today. He is in the home stretch of a house for a friend I have been overseeing. He also is the builder for my personal project in my subdivision. 4 spec houses have the foundations in and framing to start soon. I want a time line to follow especially getting things framed in. I have until the middle of October to dig a few more foundations and yes these have train rooms (ok basements). I’m leaning toward more foundations but I need to call the listing realtor for her advice. I have up to 20 lots (3 acres each) I kept for my self out of the 60 plotted out. All curbs, the community mandated park and utilities are in. I drove through yesterday and there are 7 other houses going up. Not bad since the lots starting selling in August. Our local housing market is still crazy.

The granddaughter picture for her 1st day has come in

14 as of 3 days ago, she is Down Syndrome but copes very well. She told me she’s going to be scared as the High School doesn’t do mentoring for special needs kids. Today in the district just the 6th graders and high school 1st year report. A chance for them to learn the school without the mass of the rest of the school. No books of course just school supplied IPads to lug between classes. They also have no lockers, coats are carried class to class or put in the back pack every student seems to have

Have a great day

she agreed to make a batch of Chocolate Chip cookies!
I want a cookie.
Cookies were consumed as part of breakfast.
All gone?!

Minor disaster tonight.
Life as a homeowner, it is always something. Nothing to it but to do it. The time to do it is another story.

Shark vacuum apart and clean it, so that may be why it didn't operate remotely the other day.
My wife's robot vacuum (Rosie) lost her programing when the power went off

Good morning all,

61 and light rain, supposed to clear off then rain again this afternoon.

Yesterday I started in on the body work on the Suburban again. I got the frame section and underside cleaned up and undercoating completed drivers rear quarter. Lots of sanding and bondo in my future, although the sheet metal is mostly new, a lot of matching areas require touch up.

I have been running the trains on my layout. Started putting box cars aside that don't perform perfectly, two so far. Yet to begin the new building project.

Working the desk at the History Center this morning, supposed to be wet and cool for a few days here.

They have a real nice looking work train running the track here this morning, pulled by a Bachmann 2-6-0. The other track sports a Great Northern SD 45, Athearn. I will have to get some pics.

Later, Dave LASM

Good (late) afternoon all. A bottle of Old Speckled Hen please, Flo.
The workmen have gone home. They will be back in the morning; 8.00am.

Dawn has been ill today. Nurses have been and the doctor has prescribed some medicine to be delivered today.

Pork Loin Steaks for dinner tonight.

The rain has stayed away.

Good morning all!

A very late check in this morning. Time sort of got away from me!

A little warmer today. Currently 74F heading up to a high of around 80F The big nose dive comes later in the week with
highs only in the 60s.

Just been putering around the house this morning. Already have the dishwasher emptied, breakfast dishes loaded. I also have my
second load of laundry in the dryer. As I said its ben a busy morning.

Didn't make it to the train room yesterday. Just wasn't feeling it. More than likely not tonight either.

Volleyball game tonight is at home, so no travel.

Have a safe day everyone!
