That's what I'm having!

I found something to do today besides drinking beer and trains though.

I decided to reconfigure my PTR91.

The rifle weighed a tad over 14 pounds with a loaded magazine and decided it needed to go on a crash diet.

I removed the SIG-Sauer TANGO-MSR LPVO scope, removed the bi-pod (on whose leg I just straightened), installed the plastic lower, and removed the conventional stock and replaced it with the collapsable stock.

There is a half pound of weight difference in the two stocks, so taking all of the other weight off, I put on a half-pound.

Now the rifle is at 11 pounds 10 oz. with a loaded magazine. That's a little more managable, and the meat tenderizer stock isn't as bad as most think it is. I ran 200 rounds off one afternoon several years ago and wasn't even bruised.

That is one fine looking rifle! Well done Sir.

Ugh....

Working this weekend on the landing has my lower back wimpering. Not a pulled muscle, but they are threatening to abandon healthy status and head to red alert status.

Ibuprofen taken. Ice pack soothing the back muscles. I'm going to watch a video about the "Death of Stalin" movie, to see if I want to watch the movie. All other activities, except perhaps going out for supper are hereby cancelled. Gotta take care of the back so I'm not in agony for the next few days.

Is that a real HK style collapsible stock? Not sure I’d want one on a full size rifle. I had one once I put on my MP5k but I took it off again and put the side filer back on. How tight is the lockup ? Do you get any movement in the stock? It does look nice.

But you’re not me and I’m not you. So keep on doing you. I’m not trying to criticize the move. Just wondering about it.

I had one of the collapsibles on my old one and the lockup and rigidity were very good, infinitely better than an AK folder [except the Magpul or Galil' ones. It's still serving an Illinois Cop , last I knew it was sporting an Aimpoint red dot.

Good afternoon. It's mostly partly cloudy and 88. Yes, that's what the weather app said...
I noticed something about my Capital One credit card accounts that I found disquieting. Up until last month, I could log in to my account, and my dashboard would show me my balances of each account, payment due date, and how much was due to prevent late fees. Starting with this billing cycle, that information is no longer provided. I have to log in to each account separately and check any amount due, and due date. I can only assume that is so I don't notice when something is due when I check, in the hope I'll forget and incur late fees.
Are you logging in on capitalone.com ? When I log into our account on capitalone.com there are a bunch of tiles for each account (CC, money market etc) that show the overview including current balance and min payment and due date. This has not changed in a long time. Or do you have a specific login for a specific card? I'm confused.

I don't know about the AK folders but the Choate (marked H&K as it's what H&K used on the factory MP5k) side folder for H&K is rock solid.

When I was young my dream rifle was an H&K 91 with the collapsible. Nothing against that but now I'd rather have an AR style PDW type with 300 blackout... And 100000 variations on that.

I do need to get the H&K 91 running and my two FAL (one metric FAL and one L1A1) kits finished. There is something nice about the 308 in the morning... I finally broke down and built an AR style in 308 but would like to get my classics going at some point.

I have too many hobbies and interests and not enough time ;)

Good Monday to all. NON labor day for me...........

For those who use home blood pressure machines, if you have not done so already, I suggest taking your bp monitor with you to your doctors office and let someone there check the readings as compared to their readings. When I first started bp meds, my Dr said get a monitor and check my bp every 4 to 6 hours or so and keep a log until they could get the dosage right. I purchased a high end bp monitor and it still read about 2 points higher than what they got at the doctors office. My Dr was the one who suggested bringing in my bp monitor for comparison. Glad I did.

Maybe some time in the train room.

Doing some cooking and taking garbage out is still on my list. Living in the country, I have to haul my garbage to a dumpster about 16 miles one way. So its not that I am lazy just not in the mood to make the drive plus I'll need to get gas as tank is running low.

Need to get 2024 tax stuff together as Oct 15 will be here before I know it.

So much to do and so little time (and energy).

Enjoy your day......John

I spent 40 minutes watching that little truck
I never saw that tracking again since that one time.

I now use a spot of super glue
Yep, that works, especially when those parts are super tiny and when they go flying, they are gone. I use PVA so I get a bit more time before it gets stuck to my hand.

Don’t remind me. In fact Sept 15 is coming and my two LLC returns for 2024 will be due. They’re not hard. Just time consuming. And this year a little more PITA as I’ve updated my computers which makes it harder to run the VM with windows. I ended up buying a real windows machine — one of this small ones the size of a Mac mini for $300 — so I could run some DCC module utility software that is windows only and I’ll have to use that for taxes now.

I still do that about once a year. My PCP's nurses still use a stethoscope and pump-up cuff to get patient's pressure. I had mine checked about 6 weeks ago and it was fine. Then it broke Saturday night! I need to take the new machine in ASAP as I think that it reads a bit too high.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those with blood pressure...

It's Troy again...

Got the back pain under control ... Ice and heating pad swapping ever 20 minutes.

Told the wife I deserved a steak dinner for all the work and injuring I did this weekend. She said a cheesesteak sammich was the best she'd let me get. She didn't want a heavy meal.

So I grilled brats and she made MacNCheese... I must have looked pretty disappointed since she agreed to make a batch of Chocolate Chip cookies!

I've already downed half-a-dozen.

More updates later. Till then, I'll just keep hitting refresh on the news sites.

Evening, folks. The patio is very far away, and I have no idea what the temperature or humidity are on it, but it's absolutely freezing in this room.

Good thing I came prepared.

One of my cats (Nibble, or Count Nibley as I like to call him) decided to stop eating yesterday afternoon. Don't know why. Got extremely listless, and didn't budge from my bed for damn near 24 hours. Hence, I am at the kitty ER, because it's Labor Day and all the normal veterinarians are thus not laboring.

Have been in this room for over an hour due to the fact that they're super busy. Am waiting for the doctor. Will see how it goes...

I hope you all have blood pressure (a lack of that is bad, @troyphoto!), and are having a better day than me...

Yes, that is an original HK stock, serial numbered too. Lockup is tighter than Presley's pants and fits like a glove without any movement.

This is the G3A4 configuration introduced in 1974 for front-line service.

THIS is what you should be doing on Labor Day!
20250831_181936.jpg

Unexpected surprise! I found out that the fuel gauge on the right is not working. It shows 5/8 of a tank remaining, about 3/4 mile from my dock, where I ran out of gas.
I bought the boat last September and have just added 3 -4 gallons whenever I planned to go riding. I had about 1-1/2 gallons of gas left in the gas can...on the boat this time. Took a couple tries to start the engine again, but we made it back okay.
My labor took over an hour to put the mooring cover on the boat by myself to keep out critters and rain. I had to swim to snap some fasteners on the front of the boat. It was time for a late lunch and a nap.
However, it was all worth it !
