Noted while driving around that regular gasoline was mostly at $3.39/gal. I don't understand the diesel thing though. I just looked up the national average which shows $6.28/gal, meaning that a lot of places are higher; but all around here it is in the $5.45/gal range. So some places must be really high. Hello California?
Gas around here seems to be about $4.69 or thereabouts. Probably because most of it is trucked in and with high diesel it adds to the cost. It has been bouncing around the last week or two. Got up close to $5 and lower like $4.39.

Walmart and Costco are cheaper anyway

Diesel around here is right at that national average you mentioned. So your price must cancel out with California to get us the average.

Well, I was only going to give the front and near back yard one more cut for the season. I ended up cutting it all. It wasn't really very thick at all because of the recent weather, but some of it was a bit tall. Especially the Bluegrass. The fescue is all but done for the year.

Even though it wasn't really tall, the fallen leaves made it easy to see where I hadn't yet cut. Made pretty quick work of it too. Done in 40 minutes, front and back.

Heart rate was 102 immediately after coming into the house and now three minutes later is down to 88 and falling. So recovery is still good on the half-dose of Metoprolol without it getting out of hand and racing. Don't feel winded either or I would have stopped. No dizziness or light-headedness either.

So far, so good.

TomO great news!
Back is still giving me fits, didn't help the power went out this morning and I had to manually lift the garage door so Lady C could get out. 67 here right now and real pretty. Got heat on the back now that the power is back on.
We start a Mission's Conference at Church tonight, I'm praying the back eases up. Chiropractor's Office is closed today so that's out.
Anyway, you guys have a good day.

Speaking of USPS: Over the weekend I ordered something from a company about 30 minutes away from me.

Monday morning, October 19, there was a shipping notification with a USPS tracking number and an estimated delivery for yesterday (October 20). Monday night I did a track of it on usps.com and it showed it was at the main Salt Lake City distribution center, but it said the estimated delivery was for Thursday October 22. Today I tracked it again and it and it said it had arrived in St. Paul MN at 11:03pm on October 20. LOL

Not sure why they're going through St. Paul is necessary to ship a box 30 minutes up I-15 inside Utah...

Good morning all. Temps and humidity are back down, so AC is off, windows are open and fans spinning.

After I installed an ECONAMI decoder in my Kato C44-9W, I found that it jack rabbits out of the hole and starts moving before the sound started ramping. Kinda weird. I couldn't find any info on how to tweak this, so I wrote to Soundtraxx. They are very responsive and wrote a book of things for me to do. I'll be giving that a try later, after my brain wakes up. So far, I give them two thumbs up for customer service.

Since it looks like the winds have died down, I may be able to get some painting done. I'd like to get that done to give the paint some curing time before the peeps show up, if they ever do. I put a bunch on order almost 2 weeks ago and status shows as preparing for shipment still. I may just order another batch from the jungle site. I prefer the stuff from Kato, which I believe is made by Nochs. They look a lot better than the Amazonian Chinese stuff, even though they are tiny and cost about 4 times as much.

Have a good day!

After I cooled off a bit and caught my breath I went to pick up my script for Timolol for my glaucoma and ran by the package store for some real beer.

I'm sitting out in the back yard admiring my 'estate' with the newly shorn grass for a couple of hours now and a couple of beers later, and I catch a movement out of the corner of my right eye.

Here comes a young eight point buck traipsing through my yard right up off of the sidewalk. He comes up the side of the house and stops when he sees me move. I spoke to him and he turns to look at me. He then moves to the back of the yard at a leisurely trot and finds there is no outlet at the back of the yard. He turns and walks quickly back the way he came and I call to him once again. He stops and stares at me a few moments and decides to go visit the neighbor's yard.

Once over there, he finds there is no outlet over there either and then disappears. I don't know where he went after this. This buck was probably around 180-190 pounds or so. Wouldn't be a bad kill in the field. I haven't hunted in so long I don't even know if they're in season right now in Illinois.

Not the first time this has happened to a deer that got lost. It's been awhile, but there was a small herd of around six that were wandering right down the middle of the street one Sunday morning when I was leaving for work before I retired. Another time two really young yearlings were in my backyard.

Strange creatures. Wish I'd had my phone on the patio table to snap a pic.
