3 days of rain....finally. Maybe 1.25", but November it should start up continously.

I haven't been able to eat the spinach fast enough and it's starting to go to seed, so I'm pulling it up today.
The Tuscan Kale is looking great and will normally survive the winter as long as there are no ice storms. The Komatsuna next to the Kale is infested with Cabbage Moth worms. I'm tired of picking them off.
The Okinawan Sweet Potatoes over at my mom's house have vines almost 20' long. It's been almost 130 days and the leaves are just starting to turn yellow. I'll be digging those up in the next couple of days too.

I was given to believe, that after the bombs, the Japanese prefer a little insect 🐞 🐜 🕷️ insect damage as it shows the food is safe to eat….is that a fairy story?
I am not keen on snail trails….yewww but I will take the odd leaf 🍁 🍂 🍃 leaf damage and tear off nearby, and once the mice start on any crop I grab it quick! One year through mid attention I found I had sweetcorn cobs with leaves but the kernels had all been scoffed….they also love the small red squash which I have to watch like a hawk, this year they got all my watermelons and most of the other melons too, only 3 days between my checking! Next year I will train them up…but they walked up the grapevine for grapes…..I could do with a couple of those big cats!…well no on second thoughts…not THAT big…gulps

Finally out today and doing some train chasing. Western Maryland Scenic 2-6+6-2:

I say old chap, did you see the show while passing Corrours Station? An attractive enough bird standing with her hands raised putting on a blooming nighty. Jolly good, old man.
I raise you a Dressing gown :P and a guard dog :p……..ok she’s not much of a guard dog…..more a cuddle mutt,

the dobermans are now in dog heaven, you would not have messed with them….wags finger. Husband fell for soppy drawers, although I do adore her. I personally would choose a Dobbie every time, the girls are loyal obedient ok with kids, and if your nervous super protective, if a dobbie looks at you out of the corner of its eye, (you see the white of its eye). better step back and keep your hands clear, and I would not risk running…..no noooo not from a dobbie….they like a good take down. No eye eye contact, act meek, slowly step back,if you have a jacket or such wrap it round you arm and leave you good hand free - sacrifice the arm if it attacks and grab the bottom jaw and hang on for dear life! They then open their mouth trying to break free…rather than double down and bite harder, you could Shove a shoe or whatever in its mouth if you cannot dislocate the jaw….you could kick a boy in the ….coughs….but more likely you’ll just make it VERY angry. Me I do baby voice for strange dogs….not sure it works for the dogs…..but somehow it works for me lol.

Nighty night :p

Good afternoon all. Lady Jaz's comment reminded me of Phyllis Diller's joke about one night a peeping Tom reached in her bedroom window to pull down the shade!
Up early today to be at a booth for our church at the Ozark Trail Festival here in town. We passed out cold water and invite folks to visit our church. Beautiful day 78 degrees with cloudless skies. There was also a dog show and a car show as well, the antique cars made the parade a lot of fun. Afternoon looks to be quiet here.

Every dobbie I have met has been a marshmallow outside their property. My GP is the same way. The dogs are great at perceiving a threat or friend.

Jaw strength - Doberman ~300psi
- Great Pyrenees....While there's no exact consensus, some sources place a Great Pyrenees' bite force in the range of 500-600 psi
- Kangal/Anatolian Shepard ~740psi

I still wouldn't want to test out their bite to see if it was accurate. 😁

I have usually had 2 at a time so 2x300 and you have to stop them both. Good luck.
I can attest to not wanting to check them out though, I have been bitten by a corgi several times, one eye brow is lucky the nearby lashes cover a gap, I was wearing glasses so eyes were ok. One bite to thumb, one to back of hand (me stopping my dog attack another dog left loose to run at us snarling, and a mean one almost at my elbow
Never ever liked blue tongue 👅 chows
And apparently Rottweilers are a pain,a vet told us he has been attacked by four, and one owner was made to bring his in to be put down and whilst he was still verbally defending the dog it turned and bit the owner damaging the webbing between thumb and finger.
My other half believes you train puppies, to know who is boss, and then you have a respectful dog.(that does NOT mean I’ll treating them)often as dog matures secondary training and reinforcement of rules. Until the petting mutt we had no dogs on chairs whilst we had kids so dog never had territorial rights. They got nice dog beds and the kids were trained to NOT go on their beds which was their territory, and not investigate dog food. We had an unfortunate incident with a male rescue dobermann, we did look to rehouse but were advised he would be put down, we kept him as an outside dog in a dog run, kids were told you go near him he goes to vet and is put down. he had a good life, but was monitored for agression
This is the man who punched a Doberman on the nose who was showing aggression towards me, he also punched a pony who was chasing me across a field, the dog (our rescue) I was offering a bone, dog took it then decided I was in HIS space, the pony I walked across it’s field with permission from the human owner but apparently not the pony, however afterwards the pony would watch me but never charged me again. ican honestly say not much messes with my other half twice. FYI he is a nice bloke, just won’t bow to aggression, human or animal. I have never seen him initiate aggression. I have seen him end it….He once went up to a bloke on a high street who was pushing a woman and told the bloke to walk away, the bloke complained it was his wife, my husband said I don’t care walk away now! After the bloke reluctantly retreated my husband advised the woman to not go home immediately and she said she could go to her brothers, and he said if aggression you will need to speak to the police. We followed her out of the immediate area, he asked if she was ok to go on from there and she agreed. hopefully the other half calmed down, but someone who is aggressive in public? I would not think so :( She did not want to go to the police, her call.
Ok I diverted from the subject at least once lol.
Agreed on dogs bigger muzzle stronger jaw, dobermann compensates with speed, and often works in pairs.if we pointed at the ground by our feet within seconds a dog would be sat there, waiting for a Pat.

Dobies are the best! I miss my Dobie mix every day. He was a total cuddle mutt at home, put himself to bed at 8 p.m. every night. All I had to say was "wanna ride in the truck?" and he was out the door like a shot straight to the passenger side door. Super smart. I got pulled over one night with him in the truck, after asking for my license the cop commented "Is that your buddy?" looking at Bud. Bud slowly turned his head to face the cop , curled his lip and let out a low growl. With that the cop handed me back my license, told me to keep it under the limit, walked back to his car and pulled off. Good dog!! His best buddy was my Maine Coon cat at 19 lbs, He was 70 lbs.

We lost Bud about 4 Years ago at the age of 4 to Von Willebrand's disease. A disease that Dobies are susceptible too. We always knew he was a mixed breed, and his stature, and demeaner said Doberman, but I was never sure where the erect ears and the white on his coat came from.

Good afternoon to all train chasers, bone cleaners and window peepers............

I watched an old rerun of Groucho Marx when he hosted the "You Bet Your Life" show, later to become the "Groucho Show".
Phillis Diller was one of the guests on the show. At that time she was an "unknown" and was trying to work her way into being a comedian. Groucho wished her luck.
And yes, she was definitely a "shades down" open window view.

Racoon #4 is in the trap. He looks to be stressing out a bit now so I guess he will expire around 6 or 7 pm.
If the trap is not wrecked, I'll reset it for tonight. I am curious how many I'll snag. And just for grins, a group of racoons is usually referred to as a "Gaze" or "Troop" or a "Nursery". They can be in groups up to 20..........lots of trapping for me.

Some household things to do today. Still gathering tax stuff together. Mowing and "weed eating" is still on my list. However, I'm not going to rush into anything.

My 2-8-0 loco project is on hold ( as are many others) pending a reply from an individual who has 3D printed some of the motor shaft gears.
I have entertained thoughts of buying a 3D printer but I don't have the time to do all the projects I have now, much less try to learn the CAD part of of the 3D printing process.

Everyone have a great weekend..............John

It’s been raining most of the day. Very heavily this morning. Woke up at 6am to use the facilities. My wife was up reading and I heard my daughter get up for work.

It sounded like a hurricane and also thunder (and lighting could be seen through the window). Lots of rain. Eventually the wind died down but it continued to rain hard.
It’s been sprinkling and lightly raining off and on since late morning.

It’s been upper 40s and low 50s though up in the hills it seems it was colder.

Supposed to get warmer and sunnier and be sunny this coming week in the high 70snand maybe hit 80.

This was on the way home today after a trip to the CU, post office, and Home Depot.
