Good morning all!

Our fall warmth continues. Currently a pleasant 56F heading up to a high of 87F.

Have some laundry and a few other minor things to do this morning.

Volleyball game tonight is at home, so no travel involved.

Nothing else really going on in my world, which is welcome!

Have a safe day everyone!

You folks keeping up on the boosters? I never did get one, only the JJ vax and the modermo or whatever it was called when the JJ vax turned out to be a bummer. The govt required me to get it, so I did.

My wife and kids kept up to speed on the boosters and ended up getting covid twice. I never did get it. I guess whiskey is proof against it? haha.

I did have to go drive all the way down to Kyoto from the Tokyo area to go pick up one of my guys who popped positive while working on a Japanese ship. Protocol stated that he had to go into isolation on a US base, so I volunteered to go since my kids are grown and on autopilot and everybody else in the office had youngsters or a real job. That sucked and my car camera recorded a lot of bitching and whining on the way, which I deleted haha. I ended up having to go into isolation since I was deemed a close contact. I had already loaded up my work computer, monitor and accoutrements for my stay at the US Naval Air Station that had room. Since I had my shots, I was allowed to roam around the base with a mask on and not leave the base. I stayed there for 5 days and then checked out.

My last booster was 2023? maybe 2022. But, there are new variants circulating, and I'm about to hit several conventions in the next two months, with a cruise early next year.

I might still get the virus, but I like not being in the moderate to deadly category of infection with my asthma.

Good morning all, 65 and sunny here, going to hit 89 today. Temperatures in the mid to upper 80s here through Tuesday they say, then some rain and 70s. Last home volleyball game tonight, hopefully the girls do well.
Karl, I will get some pics of the 10/22 on a bit, everyone else is still sleeping, so I don't want to make noise getting the rifle out.
Got a message my #6 switches will arrive today so hopefully can get the track work worked out today and this evening.
Y'all have a good day and God bless.

Good morning from Wisconsin. Yesterday our high was 78 the lowest high in 8 days. Today we should get to 85. I like it especially since the humidity has been low.

Plans for today are to continue on my track replacement project that is going slower than I hoped for. In the transload facility I will look at doing a styrene cover over the old surface to even out everything. I know that’s not explained well but I want the parking surface even with the top of the rails.

Sometime today, probably in the 10am range we will head to our grocery store

At 7pm we have volleyball on campus. Wisconsin versus Illinois. The #7 ranked Badgers have only lost 1 match this season to now #2 Texas. While a good team they are not in an elite level yet as they are very young and inexperienced but just to see the game to game improvement has been neat.

The USPS tracking this morning shows my Wisconsin Interstate #4022 that was projected to be here today returning from the Colorado Freelance Meet to be here Saturday

My new unit coming from the painter was due tomorrow now arriving Monday

NOT POLITICAL but: I see Mr. Tesla, Elon Musk is now worth $500 billion, just an obscene amount, IMO. I believe in Capitalism but that just seems outrageous me. Plus unlike Bezo, Buffet, Bezo’s ex-wife and the guy from Microsoft he stated he has no plans to gift any of it to charity. That’s his right and I should be ok with that but I’m not. Larry Ellison has also stated he has no plans to donate but will leave his to his family. Even with all the money Bill Gates has donated over the years few of it goes to needed help in the USA but mostly to Africa. We need another Andrew Carnegie

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear and 65°. 10 day forecast is still the same, clear, sunny, low humidity, mild wind, and temperatures in the 65°-90° range. Maybe partly cloudy next Tuesday. The only rain that I see right now on the radar is in Patrick's area, 300 miles away.

Thursday again, which is weekly grocery trek day. Wife is not going today since she is going to her hair dresser at the same time. A stop at Sam's Club is in order for the reason explained below.

Yesterday's visit to the Cardiac Electrophysiologist was not what I expected and it went very well. He spent over 30 minutes with me and my wife reviewing stuff and explaining what was probably happening; and what type of service he could offer if any was needed. Much more detailed and thorough than either my cardiologist or PCP had ever been. He definitely wasn't "on the clock" like most doctors that I have seen. I left with a monitor to wear for 30 days, unobtrusive patch that I don't really notice unless I put my hand on it. I'm supposed to live life as normal except don't go swimming! OK, the season is over anyway.
After that, we went to pick up my LH hearing aid which had come back from the shop Tuesday. Sadly it was out of warranty by 10 days, so I was out of some $$$. I knew this when I dropped it off 3 weeks ago. I need to have an additional adjustment made, (it's just too loud), but I can do that in Denton since they have now re-opened the hearing aid center in the Sam's Club there. Finally hired a tech for it after being closed for a couple of months.
Didn't get home until 2:00, so the day was already shot. I'm still adjusting the already fluid schedule since I am not spending 1-1 1/2 hours in the pool every day. Since we weren't home early enough to thaw out supper, we went to our favorite Italian Restaurant with our BYOB bottle of wine.

After napping, I went straight to the train shed. Yesterday's task was to change the front couplers on all 6 of the ScaleTrains couplers from their plastic couplers to Kadee #146 longs. That's because all of my freight cars have trip pins that get hung on the ST front plows if I use #148's. For now, I am leaving their couplers on the back end, because I always run my diesels lashed up in back to back pairs. Eventually they will get the #148's back there, but I primarily wanted to run them yesterday. I still harken back to the old days of running a few laps to "break them in" even though I know that it isn't necessary with today's models. I ran a few 18-20 car trains with one pair for some of the time. Different pair today.
More photos today, close-ups.

Can't tell from these pictures, but 5174 & 5176 are earlier rebuilds without ditch lights. All of these models represent units built with 88" noses. I had previously gotten some from ST with 123" "snoot" noses, which ATSF had a few of, 24 I think. They had 187-SD40-2's all together. My roster contains probably 26, with some from Kato, P2K and Athearn.

Swal - With a bit of care, that holly hole could become a putting green!
Todd - Please wish Maria a happy Birthday today from me.
Mikey - I just use some old beach towels folded up for knee pads on the floor. If I know that I will be doing extensive time there, I have 2 pairs of real knee pads, one for indoor stuff and the other for outdoor stuff.
Chet - Of course every time that you post photos, I see a piece of my layout in them. Thanks as always for the opportunity to take some inventory off your hands. I'll have to think long and hard if you ask for any of it back!;)
John - I did run all 6 engines together Tuesday when I took the pictures that I posted yesterday. It was indeed sweet.

Singer/bassist for the Police, Sting, is 74 today.
Everyone have a terrific Tuesday.

He earned his and I earned mine.....not as much as he did, but he took more risks. ;)

Hell, Oprah is worth almost $4B. Good for her too.

Now if we're talking about Congress Critters wealth......that wasn't earned.

I got the initial Moderna 2 shots. I then got the booster the following year.

I then chose to sit the rest of them out, and have not received any since 2023.

Hey Louis,
I really hope your wife's recovery is almost back to normal. You, being the caregiver can be a lot harder than being the patient sometimes....BTDT several times with my wife. Lots of respect to you.

Baseball time! I just saw the Mason Miller 104mph pitch. Fast and in the strike zone. I watched it slow motion just to see his biomechanics at work.

When we had cats, Dawn had Cranberry. (Her markings were cranberry coloured and arrived at Christmas time.) The cat was always at Dawn's side.

Bigson was a big cat and acted like a guard dog and patrolled the area outside. On a night time he loved to sleep on my chest. The trouble was I would have no idea until around 4.00am. The times I woke up thinking I was having a heart attack only to find a big, furry lump asleep on my chest. The picture brought back such memories. Thanks!
