If you plan on staying above the ground, you have to watch what you eat. They say the number one cause of cancer is processed meats. I don't eat any of those products anymore. Sugar and modified corn starch fuel the cancer's growth. It's in almost everything. Look at the labels. I make my own soup now. I buy all organic add some pepper and a very little salt. Swal

With regard the UPS plane and the building with the damage from a strike.

I saw some video today on one of the more “professional” flying and airplane and airline focused YT channels. The plane was probably too high up for the gear to have hit that building. The video was pre building strike, but the plane was high enough that the gear probably would have missed the building.

For the wing to hit it doesn’t have to be at a 90 degree knife edge angle. A modest bank at that altitude would put the wing tip low enough to impact the building.

Also, based on one of the posts above that had the assumed flight path drawn over the area including the building, the damage was to the left of the flight path. Like where a wing tip would be.

I’m not an expert. Just armchairing it based on what other smarter people (like professional airline pilots) have said and show given known video etc.

Did you buy it new? Or used. If new is contact KATO about fixing it.
New. It runs fine now after the contact cleaner did its magic. It was strange with having a dark greenish colored slime in the axle cups. I never seen a Kato with that before. And this mechanism is strange in that it is not split chassis and if you take the drive bogie out (only one on this model), the pickups touch the frame and shorts out. Found this out while trying to see if the front bogie was having pick up issues.

We ate dinner one night, on the river cruise, with a cancer researcher from Cleveland. He said obesity, red meat, and genetics were major factors in cancer development, but poor diet is a factor in many preventable diseases. I asked about sugar and he said the only role it played was increasing the obesity factor. The processed meat issue falls into the red meat area.

We discussed a company I am invested in, Grail, and their Galeri cancer screening test. It can identify over 50 types of cancers using the spike proteins/DNA that the cancer cells shed off. He was surprised it's approved for Tri-Care, but is still waiting for final Medicare approval. He believes it's about a year off before the final Medicare approval. It is also HSA approved.

My Dr is doing a 1 day clinic next week for those that want to take the test. It's discounted a couple hundred, but still expensive right now. I'm taking it just because with all the skin cancers I want to make sure there's not a possible melanoma. What's unique about the test is that it can identify cancer in stage 0. Most stomach, pancreatic, colon, etc cancers are never diagnosed until they are at stage 3-4.

I was doing some research into a DC stay alive circuit and was wondering if diodes could be used to save the capacitor from reverse charging. Found this circuit and will be giving it a try.

Good evening. It's cloudy with a brief period of rain scheduled in about 2 hours, and 73.
The chaos continues at work as everything unravels. One of the service managers quit today, after a competitor offered him a 20% increase over his current pay, and more benefits, like vacation time. Two service advisors quit today over the 40% pay cuts. The new company says they want to hire more people, but the wages they seem to want to pay are barely more than minimum wage, with effectively zero hiring incentives. The two advisors not only had their pay cut, but all bonuses were removed, and they were expected to work from open to close, 6 days a week, and that would equal about $9/hr. Maybe the new company is trying to get rid of people without firing them, but if they're not, offering less than half what any other comparable place pays and expect to retain them, doesn't make much sense.

Well, howdy there internet peeps

It's Troy again.

Our convention is over.

Seems our keynote speaker couldn't make it in person to picking Covid, but was doing well enough to join us for about 40 minutes via a livestream video from home.

Wife is staying with me tonight at the hotel, so I'm walking over to a pizza place near the hotel to meet her and our friends. We get tomorrow and head to the airport for a 9am flight to Dallas... a four hour layover then a regional jet to Ft Wayne IN.

I suspect the second flight might get cancelled due to the dumbasses in DC.

We'll see what happens.

If I make it to Texas and have to get a rental car, that will only be two days of driving to get home. If we start from Vegas it's 4 days.

I'll update tomorrow as we find more info.

Good Evening All. Rather warm still at 74° tonight despite being clear and dark.

An interesting situation at the grocery store today at the checkout. I had to wait in line behind a woman who was arguing with the checker regarding what she could purchase with her SNAP card. I wasn't aware, but hot food items like a rotisserie chicken are ineligible for purchase and she had to pay cash for it! The checker also informed her that beginning in April next year, the bags of candy and the soft drinks that she had in her basket, were going to be ineligible as well. Apparently the State of Texas received a waiver to prohibit these items. Hooray for our state. The woman probably weighed 1.5 times as much as me, and I am overweight.

I won't argue about the number of dumbasses in DC, but the airport slowdowns and flight restrictions are caused by the dumbass air traffic controllers who are calling in sick. As essential employees, they are expected to work without pay during a shutdown and are not entitled to sick leave. They could also be disciplined later. They are dumbasses because they know when they take the job that they are considered essential and should have some backup savings for such an event.
Expect delays at DFW, but don't eat at Dickey's! For the best BBQ there, go to Cousin's BBQ in terminal B or D. Another good option is Railhead BBQ, also in terminal D. Railhead is based in Ft Worth and Cousins is based in Dallas. Dickey's is the "fast food" option of BBQ in Texas.

Something is going on because when I go for my 6 months health checkup twice a year the parking lot holds 1000 cars, and I have a hard time finding a parking space. Swal

Once again, PT wore me out yesterday.
I had my second session of the week this morning. Today was my best, My greatest difficulty is the balance board. I was literally exhausted when my 55" was up. One difference is that I do not have any of the equipment that I use there is available to me at home. (I keep this up and I may become a gym rat when the PT is over). Secondly, the Therapy place is five minutes from home.

Good news that your wife came through the surgery. Hopefully her concern for scarring will not happen. Was her procedure Mohs surgery?

As far as I know it has always been like that. At least it was 40+ years ago when I worked part-time in a grocery store. It hadn't changed when my wife managed convivence stores 8-10 years ago.

I think it is a good idea. The grocery budget will go further if you cook for yourself.

There should be exemptions for disabled people who cannot cook for themselves. Being too lazy to cook is not an excuse.
bags of candy and the soft drinks that she had in her basket, were going to be ineligible as well.
All foods with high added sugar should be ineligible everywhere.

SNAP - Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Added sugar and other empty carbohydrates are not good nutrition.

In the poor neighborhoods I see fast food joints, connivence stores and liquor stores.

It's no wonder diabetes has become an epidemic.

In those neighborhoods I see many more kidney dialysis centers, then I see traditional grocery stores.

I all in favor of making sure people don't go hungry, but we are letting them poison themselves. Not to mention complications of diabetes are expensive! I know all too well.

Until recently I paid cash for my health care. At my wife's urging and thanks to the ACA I was able to get insurance. They can no longer turn me down due to several preexisting conditions. But the premiums are expensive! "I made my bed, now I lay in it" Oh well, my wife sleeps better knowing we have insurance. 😁

We should be teaching nutrition in schools. I had no idea a King Size Hershey bar and a large coffee loaded with sugar for breakfast was poisoning me. Super-size fries for lunch and snacks weren't helping. Nether was the beer and whiskey after work. Not to mention cheese steaks or pizza for dinner.

I gave chatgpt a chance to make an stl for me. Parameters were: n-scale, 2-6-4 steam tank, fit my Kato 2-6-4 chassis, snap on, single file. All questions that it asked me.

Result? make it yourself was the answer! What it did was go scour the internet for an existing file (which I had already done). Funny! Maybe later.

@migalyto and @TLOC

about the 3D Printer Topic.
I have now my third 3D Printer in my basement. Did some upgrades over the past 3 years i would say.
i did use it from time to time to print some stuff, but till now not for my layout haha. and if iam really honest, the new printer i got maybe 4 months ago, is still sitting there and was never touched. maybe its because i dont found the time to also do stuff with it, maybe its because of all the resin cleaning after using, or maybe i just did not had the right idea in mind to start using it again.

on the other hand, my laser cutter was way more in use. but thats a totally different topic and also use.

cheers
Marco
