It looks like a bullet; do you plan on putting them out of their misery? 🤪
That almost happened with that model. No matter what I did, including cleaning the track, following the train around to the dead spots and cleaning that spot, taking the motor unit apart and cleaning out the pick ups, and still stalling. I ended up taking the trucks outside and spraying with contact cleaner.

Good morning all!

Another typical fall Northern Illinois day today. Currently a cool 33F heading up to a high of 58F. Still not too band considering
its November and we could have snow by now. possibility of some of that by Saturday but it looks like (at least for now) it will
North of us and we will get rain.

Washer and dryer istallation went off without a hitch yesterday. I got the text earlier in the morning that they would arrive between
10am-2pm. They called just a few minutes after 10am and said they were 20 minutes out. They got here and were done in about
a half hour.

Usual household chores this morning. Not sure what else will go on.

Have a safe day everyone!

History was made tonight: In Washington, Alex Ovetchkin scored his 900th NHL Goal on St Louis. (The St Louis goalie, Binnington, was caught on Camera, trying to slip the puck into his pants. 🙀 Caps beat the Blues 6 - 1. Ref made him give it up. :p

As you know I love and follow hockey! I have never thought of the Great 8 as a superstar or a player I had to make an effort to go see. I know Ovetchkin is a very good player just via the stats. Maybe because I’ve seen very few games he has played in over the years my opinion is tainted because honestly, I would NOT trust a “hockey insider” to tell me my house is burning without verifying it myself. 900 goals is quite the achievement but with the money hockey stars are going to be making I don’t see the current goal scorers sticking around the 20+ years it would take to break this record. If the NHL had taken in the records of the WHL when they merged as the WHL wanted Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe were well over 1000 goals between the 2 leagues. Those 2 players and Gretzky would bring you to your feet when they had the puck, they were electric. Ovetchkin does nothing for me

I figured if it couldn't, it wasn't too far away.

That will make the decision to get a 3D printer much easier. Probable still be a couple years for me, as I'm just not that far along
in the layout build to need that yet. Plus in 2 years the technology will change and better printers will be offered.
Over the years I have thought of purchasing a 3d printer but knew if I did my layout would have been left even farther down the priority list to my weathering. The prices I’ve been quoted on some ideas I want printed would pay for a resin 3d printer but I’m not going down that rabbit hole.

Morning all,

Finally have the servers and backups cleaned up and running again. Only 13 hours of overtime to do it. Now back to figuring out why a VLAN segment won't span the entire network.

It even has our programmer stumped and it doesn't help we have a bad fiber link. So I have 3 hours blocked out to work with him on it.

Hopefully we'll figure it out quick as I'm tired of hearing about it...

Good morning. 30f/-1c at 6am heading to 57/13 this afternoon. The winds though as they have the past week are strong in the high teens but gusting into the high 20’s.

Wisconsin Badger volleyball on campus was another win 3-1 over Minnesota. Tougher than the set/match indicates. They should at #11 make the NCAA volleyball tournament but if they squeak in I doubt they host a 1st round game. Every year since 2013 they have

The grandson texted last night if I could pick him up after practice tonight. He wants to talk about making some changes to the slot track.

I have started a thread on my process developing the friend’s 1965 era PNW papermill. It’s wordy because I had no intention to create a thread for it. There will be images and eventually pictures I always take then delete will be kept for now

Nothing in my PayPal this morning so no trip to the post office this morning is required. The weathered diesels are packaged and labeled ready to go.

Terry has a physical this morning at 10:35. I will do a McDonalds coffee run for her so she has a coffee waiting when she gets out. It’s a fasting physical and she was bitc…. I mean complaining last night already. Then it being Thursday, about the only repeatable thing we do together (NO NOT THAT) is breakfast on Thursday. Today it’s a brunch and my wallet is going to regret this adventure. Coach and his wife will join us as we go to a well recommended hard to get reservations high end brunch. Only prepared to a limited amount of people on Thursday between 10 and 3. Done by a Michelin rated chef as is the restaurant one of only 3 in the Madison area. Those types of snobby places we usually avoid. Neither of us are keen to go but it took 3 months with Coach using connections to get us in. I’m not sure I’ll be able to get a 1/2 size meat lovers skillet

I have been using ChatGPT for 2 weeks today. It is helping me with the Paper Mill project. Let’s say things are not as smooth or consistent as it should be. Revisions have become very frustratingly. Part of it is (I think) I’m being stubborn by not paying the $20 per month fee and I’m using the cheapy person’s free version. You get what you pay for type of thing

Enjoy the day

Well, everyone has their favorites, You could add Jagr to the list, as he left the NHL to play in the KHL, before returning. Being a Capitals fan, (Since their days at the Capital Center in Landover), I appreciate Ovie for his leadership on ice and his individual talent.
He is also very generous to non-profits and youth hockey in Metro DC (No. VA, Md and DC). Since he has scored 50 goals/season frequently, he may well gain the 1000 mark in two or three seasons.

40°F this morning in Southern Illinois. Good morning folks. The trees here are ablaze in color. It's likely to be mostly gone this weekend with a lot of wind supposed to be coming in and even lower temps. Highs in the low 40s are expected. Our first taste of early winter here.

Nothing going on today, but I'm starting to think about the workshop/warehouse kit I have had since last year sometime. It is a very nice kit by Busch.

Have a great day folks!

Servus!

Good Morning All. Clear 56°, into the 80's again today. No rain in the 10 day forecast.

Once again, PT wore me out yesterday. So far we haven't done anything except one routine that I can't do at home, so after the two sessions scheduled for next week, I will stop. At least at home, I can do them at my leisure instead of cramming them all into one hour. It might have been easier if I hadn't split wood in the morning before lunch. I did lots of other minor tasks around the yard as well.
My wife survived her facial surgery yesterday, but says that if she had to do it over, she would have opted for the radiation instead of the surgery. She expects a permanent scar now. Stitches come out next week.

Today as usual, is the weekly grocery trek. Wife won't go because of the huge bandage on her forehead. Not sure if I have any other stops to make, none on my immediate list.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I completed the rockwork on the side and back of the Hydrocal structure.

I don't really like that back door. I don't know whether or not there should have been a Grandt Line door included in the kit for this spot or not. I don't have a correctly sized one in my details cabinet, so I have to ponder it a little.
Now the last major paint location is the rockwork on the front. I am going to use some lighter colors here to differentiate it from the other side.

As I posted yesterday, I received another engine shipment from ScaleTrains. I wasn't originally planning on purchasing these four GP30's, but they have been on their closeout shelf for about a month now. That meant immediate shipment instead of a pre-order. These are actually GP30U's with the nose mounted headlight. ATSF had 85 of this model.

It took a few minutes to reacquaint myself with the steps to remove them from their packaging, even though I just received 6 more about 2 months ago. I only had time to run them all about 45' yesterday, after I examined each for any defects. None found. Matter of fact, I have only found one loco with a broken horn on all of the 25 or so ScaleTrains engines that I have purchased since they entered the business. They sent me a new one immediately after contacting them.

Patrick - You and your wife are going to have to be careful not to get your CPAP hoses tangled up! It will help with the sleep apnea and snoring, but as to whether you sleep better overall is open to debate. Each person has their own criteria.
Marlin (David) - I really like Bar Mills kits and I have many on my layout. I find that the first page or so of the instructions are generally well written, but then they trail off by the end. But after a few kits, you will know what the shortcomings usually are. But, as Karl posted, that's how you get the experience.

The late Eagles singer/guitarist Glenn Frey was born on this day in 1948. 60's teen idol Sally Field is 79 today.
Everyone have a fine Thursday.

Boy, just seen the air crash in Louisville. Pegasus has a trailer drop yard just on the other side of the blast/smoke column. Used to sit there and watch planes. They were really low and fun to watch; both FedeX and UPS flights; probably others. Don't remember any commercial to that runway. Time to open the .gov as planes are falling out of the sky!

L8r
That was horrible to watch and the pilots had no chance. Everyone says how similar that event is to flight 191 of DC10 back in 1979 at Chicago O'Hare.
From what i'm reading the controllers are not getting paid and there's a shortage of controllers and i'm sure cut down on maintenance. That government made plandemic sure did a lot of damage to society and looks like the fallout is just starting.

That's a very nice job on that rock and brick wall. In the area where i live there are numerous examples of similar style.

I'm continuing on taking up the bedroom baboo floor today. The only way to pull out the hardwood floor nails is with vice grips. Any other way breaks off the nails in the floor. What a great help that little speaker I bought is. Listing to my favorite classic rock songs sure helps the job go faster. I can't wait to use it on my rail trail walks. I did not know this until yesterday but Vic Scap who I've been playing golf with for the last 66 years walks the NH railroad trail every day before golf. He walks the trail headed west and brings apples for the 2 horses he sees every day on his walk. This is all new news to me. I was one man ahead of him on the engineers list. Swal

Good Morning All!

42F @ 91% raining.

Doc appointment went good. Heart doc followup. I may have put a slant on the exam. Taffie asked me how I was doing? Told her 'I am so good I could be 2 people'. She smiled. Anyway, BP 118/64 HR 64, Ox 95. She poked, prodded and listened while asking all those necessary questions. We spent more time shooting the bull than it took her to do the exam. One of the ..um.. issues that I had was my BS level is/was 25 - 40 points higher after my hospital visit. Before ( fasting ) I was 80 - 120 pretty much solid; well there were times: dang chocolate. After 120 - 150 with no substantial diet changes and about the same exercise. Have not gained any weight: I go up and down between 205 - 200. So having already asking my Doc, asked her 'what gives'. Blank stare is the response, then huh? Same response I got from Belinda. So she reviewed my drugs. Only things that changed was the ER doc cut my Metoprolol in 1/2 and added a blood thinner. Metoprolol has nothing to do with BS, so blood thinner: She said that she has never experienced it raising BS in any patient or heard of that. Then I told her I am 'unique', well maybe not, but different. Explained that if I go to the local watering hole and drink beers before dinner, BS the next morning is usually under 100. Everybody I have talked with have said their BS goes up. Hmmm. So I told her I wanted to stop the blood thinner. No, was her immediate response, then she started looking at the various reports from the hospital visit. Sonogram report was the heart was in pretty good shape; only had some arthritis on the valves and the Atrium was not expanded or bulging out in anyway. She did question my quitting of Ozempic. That was 6 months ago. Non-issue as its' half life is 30 days, pretty much gone after 120 days. She caved. No more blood thinners, but keep some around JiC. Told her I would let her know if the BS goes back to ..um.. normal after some time, which she liked. Even got a hug when leaving...

We stopped at Super 1 in Bonners Ferry as we were out of fruit. Found chicken leg quarters for $0.98Lb and Milk for $3.48 a gallon, and Butter $3.48Lb. They are having their Bake Sale today and Maria wants to go again. Brown Sugar for $0.89/Lb is just a sampling so I suspect we will come home with bags of stuff. Oh, I did find a Florida Avacodo and it was huge; probably 8" end to end and I almost could not put both hands around the base of it. I was just soft enough to give it a try, so will get one today.

Not a BNSF in sight on the way to Sandpoint, did not even see a lit signal. On the way back there was a dead train in Colburt, but that was it.

Boy that was weird. My last post wouldn't cuz of some sort of DB error. I saved it notepad JiC, probably not a FF error but closed it anyway. Same DB problem when opening. Then it magically worked and my post was still there but not the complete one.
