I was on a winter warfare exercise in Norway, freezing the proverbial butt off doing shit that squaddies do, 24 hrs later we were being shown round our new base of operations by a USMC bod, talk about change in the weather, from wind chill of over minus 20degrees to plus 40degrees in 24hrs takes a bit of getting used to I admit.
Oh! doesn't help either when all you have to wear is your Arctic warfare kit.
We were there with the British conducting a fake war. I remember sleeping on a mechanical mule when they attacked at 4am. The marshals said, I was killed in the attack. I said, good I'm out of the war. I was sleeping on the mule rather than in a tent so the scorpion's and snakes would have a harder time getting me. George

Many more than 20! ;)
So I guess you have like 50 Willie? I do have one that I used in my Pawling, NY station project 2 years ago.

I sure would appreciate any input on an HO scale grain elevator. Smaller the footprint, the better.

What's a tent, only had what we needed for the Op, tent wasn't a necessity, had enough shit to carry.

Portion control, that was key for me. I have/had a large appetite. 4 or 5 sandwiches would be common fare. Once I managed to control the amount to a single serving, numbers started dropping. The other thing, and I believe an important one, is don't punish yourself with a diet. I like scotch, but carb wise not good. I had 2 a week and managed to bring numbers down. If the entire diet is punishment, with no little rewards here or there, you just won't stick with it.
We dieted by counting calories,it is a lot of faff doing it,but we get a fish and chips takeaway 1000 calories,a two egg and bacon 520 calories, that gives me 80 for a treat and he gets 480 for a treat and does not rub my nose in it lol,we2 eat full fat,fat on meat, crisps,a lot of salad and pickles, and I rarely touch chocolate just walk slowly down the isle at the supermarket, but all within our calories, drinks are out too much sugar,he does honey in his tea,I drink water.not being able to do all the usual exercise means at the moment I am hovering on the same weight but the other half thinks it better to wait until I’m able to exercise and then slowly lose weight than reduce my calories, than the Lord, and I can fit into a size 12 so i’, not desperate to lose weight.

I responded over on that thread with pictures and a link.

Good afternoon guys, It is a little colder here than Wisconsin.

I am checking in late, and I admit it I did not read all the posts.

However, I have been on a couple diets in my life and my humble advice is eat less and be more active.

Here are a couple shots from the old layout. I would like to get some more of those Central Gems conifers, I think they make the best black spruce of anyone. (they may call them fir, also looks like subalpine fir)

another view, with the mentioned trees (hidden above behind the bin)

Wow Dave, 2 beautiful scenes. Do you have a close up of the tree you like. I love creating trees.

I put my inflated $.02 in on the thread.

Good morning Everybody!

Not much free time, but I have been keeping up with the posts as best I can. You all are more entertaining than much of what is on TV.

I'm with Dave, aka LASM try to eat less and be more active.

I'm looking for a USB hard drive for my new DVR, any suggestions? Why does every new gadget need an app to work? What ever happened to simple plug and play? At least Lionel has plug n play accessories and buildings!

Smudge, I've been known to buy too much train stuff. Recently I have been asking myself this before I buy, will I take it out of the box anytime soon? If you are enjoying what you buy, don't worry.

Sherrel I hope you are doing good. The same for Anyone not feeling well.

God Bless Us Everyone.

Part of the problem is I haven't, still got at least a half dozen loco's sitting in boxes waiting for me to add DCC, which I just haven't had time to do. The F45 that Tom kindly sent the spares for, is still waiting to be repaired too.

Good morning all! Overcast and 27 here in SE Illinois heading for cloudy, windy and 30 degrees with a small chance of snow showers. No accumulation expected or wanted.

My visit with the diabetes doctor went better than expected. I fully expect my A1C to be significantly higher than last visit. Instead it actually happened to be .4 better that last time. Guess I was doing a better job than I thought, but improvement is needed. Either way it's still far far better than what my A1C was back when I got diagnosed. She ordered a sensor to wear so I can keep better track of my blood sugar throughout the day. Not sure how much it will cost, so hoping I can afford it. If not, I'll have to just find other ways to do better.

Got a surprise visit with our oldest granddaughter yesterday. I passed her in traffic as she was leaving college for lunch. Wound up having lunch with her, but the lunch itself was not good. Went to Long John Silvers which I believe has been in stead decline for years. It took 17 minutes to get our food even though they were not even a little bit busy. Even then they didn't bring out all the food and promised the rest would be brought out as soon as it was ready. It never arrived and some of my food was completely inedible. Got a partial refund and left. Don't plan to return there ever.

That's about it here. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning from the Wild, Wild West! At the moment it is 61 F, but the low is forecast to be 46F - Think maybe someone had too many shots last night! The forecast is also for Windy and Sunny - which usually means another Santa Anna on the rampage.

LOUIS - Thanks for the well wishes! Made a doctor appointment for Monday morning with my Primary; possibly he will want to do blood work as it has been not quite 11 months prior (time sure flys)! My BP has been all over the place for a couple days and heart rate is over a hundred ... had a pretty good nights sleep so will see how today goes.
Maxine says life is like a roll of toilet paper - The closer you are to the end - the faster it goes!

CURT - Sure hope you are feeling better too?

The Spousal Unit made the switch over to - Frontier/T-Mobile/AT%T/DirectTV - for TV and Internet saving around $50 a month - It is a mix of several companies; so far it looks great with 5G and lightening speed internet. Watch them jack up the price after a year or so?
ANYHOO! - Now we can just unplug one small box (about the size of a CD player), throw it in the RV and be off with both TV and Internet - we will see?

Cups empty - better find more - think MEL's is gonna have to go 24/7?
