I was born in 1963, am I the baby of the family? The Black Sheep for sure!

Bugs Bunny was right "clean living prevails" It's too bad I took too long to figure that out. But I did have lots of fun! 🤪

I had a productive day! I returned to Amazon to pick up a second block (route) Their brilliant AI sent out too many requests for contractors, at extended rates no less. Amazon's staff could not get enough blocks ready. So, I got paid to show up and go home.

I made good use of my time and installed two more led lights in the family room ceiling. And I finally took some photos of the family room Christmas! I posted those in Christmas Trees, Trains and More

These are among the first photos I have taken with our Samsung S22 Ultra and the new tripod (I still haven’t found the other one). I paired the remote that came with the tripod to the phone last night, but it did not work today. I'll solve that another day. I have much to learn, but after nearly two years I'm glad to be using the phone. It was too expensive to only be a backup for our work phones.

Time for a shower and watch Adam-12 as I fall asleep.

Have a good night, Everybody!

I like the idea - I have my sons original old HO engine that is 30+ years old that long ago gave up the ghost and for sentimental reasons didn't want to trash it - this sounds like a great way to keep it on the layout. Might even add the sounds of an engine sputtering and stumbling trying to start
Out of curiosity, what kind of engine is in? I've repowered several engine that died in the past, I might have some ideas.

D

Does that dispel the hobby is dying myth that always floats around. 🤣
I don't know. I see a lot of folks in their 30's and 40's at train shows in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Are they really model railroaders or just there out of curiosity; or just need a different place to bring their kids? At club layouts that I visit when I go to shows, it looks like 1 out of 5 members present are in that age bracket.

I agree as to what I see at the shows in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Many are young families in probably their early 30’s. I have on my Facebook weathering and layout page over 1100 “friends”. I would say based on the birthday info I get everyday that the majority are younger then 50 and many hundreds in their 30’s. My #2 ranked weathering client by volume is 23 living in LA.

I don’t know what people consider as old anymore but we are in the “golden age” of model railroading as far as I am concerned

I know the hobby isn't dying. I believe its roaring pretty strong looking at all the current offerings.

That was more of a tongue in cheek statement. I have read many threads over the years claiming the hobby was dying.

1967 was the year I hired on the Pennsylvania Railroad. (I'm still a tad younger than Hughie ;) ). I've been retired since 2008.

Spent time today making some changes in the track in the Penn Steel complex. This is a continuation of the project I started before Thanksgiving. Tomorrow, is a busy day. Car goes in for tires and service. Then I have to wrap gifts.

Later Gator!

Someone mentioned repowering old engines that had died, here's a few done, for various reasons,

Even an old AHM Alco C415 can be re-born with new running gear and frame fashioned from brass stock.

You just "gotta wanna"!

Good morning all. Well the sun took a brief look over here and soon crossed back over the pond. We are left with icy rain. 2023 must be the wettest on record here.

Dawn is not 100%, so I am playing nurse. Youngest grandson wants to visit, but he will have to come another day.

Coffee to make, so back later.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those sippin' mai tais at any bar with Trader in the name,

It's Troy again. Just coffee this morning, FLO. I'm stuffed from last night's dinner.

Went out last night and tried a newish burger place down the road. They started up in Indianapolis, where they have two locations, and added a third this spring here in the Fort. But, they were drive-thru only despite taking over an old Fazoli's (fast food pasta place) building with inside dining. The drive-thru lines were long enough that I never bothered to stop. But, about a month ago, they opened up for inside eating. I won't call it "dining" since the place is basically just tables and chairs. White and orange. Very sparse. Not even napkin dispensers on the tables.

and my burger, the western, 2 patties, bacon, an onion ring in the middle, and (blah!) American cheese. Of all the cheeses to Invent, our country is known for this cheese. Couldn't we have invented a good new kind of cheddar? Or Brie?

Other than the cheese on the burger, it was good. And a decent value compared to 5-guys across the street. We got more than we usually get (Onion Rings!!!!) for about the same - but the 5Guys has an ASK for a tip built into the credit card reader. I do the $2 minimum there since they don't wait tables. At the new place, not even a tip jar on the counter. If they had one, I'd dropped the same into that.

Here's the menu for the place.

Hopefully all of you non-vegans are now considering a good burger for lunch (or breakfast).

Or, you're wondering what went wrong with me that I don't like the American cheezes.

I ask myself the same two questions (minus the cheese part).
