Went out last night and tried a newish burger place down the road. They started up in Indianapolis, where they have two locations, and added a third this spring here in the Fort. But, they were drive-thru only despite taking over an old Fazoli's (fast food pasta place) building with inside dining. The drive-thru lines were long enough that I never bothered to stop. But, about a month ago, they opened up for inside eating. I won't call it "dining" since the place is basically just tables and chairs. White and orange. Very sparse. Not even napkin dispensers on the tables.

and my burger, the western, 2 patties, bacon, an onion ring in the middle, and (blah!) American cheese. Of all the cheeses to Invent, our country is known for this cheese. Couldn't we have invented a good new kind of cheddar? Or Brie?
View attachment 178025Other than the cheese on the burger, it was good. And a decent value compared to 5-guys across the street. We got more than we usually get (Onion Rings!!!!) for about the same - but the 5Guys has an ASK for a tip built into the credit card reader. I do the $2 minimum there since they don't wait tables. At the new place, not even a tip jar on the counter. If they had one, I'd dropped the same into that.
Here's the menu for the place.
Hopefully all of you non-vegans are now considering a good burger for lunch (or breakfast).
Or, you're wondering what went wrong with me that I don't like the American cheezes.
I ask myself the same two questions (minus the cheese part).
One issue with the Beverly Hillbillies truck was that there was some missing pieces in the radiator when I received it.
Hey, I resemble that remark.Coffee Shop" I refer to this forum as the "old man train forum"![]()
The cheek of the 'young whippersnapper'I'm probably one of the younger ones here: born in 66 and HS class of 84. Whenever I trell the wife or family about something I read here in the "Coffee Shop" I refer to this forum as the "old man train forum"![]()
"Old man train forum" I'll agree, but that is the reason I'm a regular visitor. You would be hard pressed to find this much experience with a better group of people. Including you, don't forget you are old enough to qualify for the senior discount at many places, old man!I'm probably one of the younger ones here: born in 66 and HS class of 84. The more I learn about your dad the more I like him. Nobody would ever call me a gourmet. In my family we call American Cheese "Grandpa Cheese" as that was my dad's kind of cheese and he was always buying it and eating it. He was not a gourmet.
Commie pinko!you're wondering what went wrong with me that I don't like the American cheezes.

We have never had American cheese, so cannot comment.
and now for something completely differentWe have never had American cheese, so cannot comment.
British cheeses? Now that is different. There is the usual Cheddar and Cheshire which are okay, but we buy the 'local and not so popular'. Local to home favourites are Redesdale and Northumbrian. Wherever we visit we try and taste the cheeses of the area. Orkney cheese is a favourite.
With Christmas fast approaching, on our Christmas Cake Wensleydale Cheese has to be there. Dawn could not believe it when I told her to buy some our first Christmas together. Now she is converted.![]()
