Well - dang it! 35f degrees this morning with a high of 60f with sunny, breezy conditions.
Towards the end of the week higher temps are supposed to show up; I hope so - tired of the cold (for here) weather.
According to the local weather station in town - they say that the rainy season year so far is the third highest since records have been taken and We still have mostly 3 months left.

No big loss to me on the Coors Beer. Growing up as a kid, I always heard that drinking Coors was like making love in a canoe -- fu*^g near water!

OK - I quit!

Love those steamers, KARL. 😍

Good Morning, folks!

As soon as daylight comes, I'll be loading the truck for an ice-fishing excursion. I figure we might have about a week left for ice-fishing, because the 60F temperatures are supposed to be headed our way. That will be it for the ice.
We went out a couple of days last week, and the ice was still 3' thick. People were driving onto the lake. I never drive on the ice; I've seen to many trucks stuck with the front end into a hole. Nobody wants to help with another vehicle, lest they get stuck too. But, they always seem to get the vehicles out somehow.

Cities - I hate them all. They seem to be populated by weird city people. We only travel to a city a couple of times a year, mostly for doctor appointments.
This is my city, that does not meet city population status. Photo from last year, but it hasn't changed:
CN Yard_WtCrt_03-30-2022.JPG

Downtown on the right, hardware store on the left, and the tracks running down through the middle. Rivers, lakes, and forests close by. That's the way I like it.

Troy - Tough luck on the herniated disk. Hope it heals-up ok.

Derailed Beer - Due to a sudden shortage of product in the beer business, the price per case will increase. So says the rich fella sitting at the head of the conference table, who was looking for a reason.

Well, I'd better make tracks. The fish are calling my name. Have a great day!

Good morning Coors, Bud Light and NYC dislikers. I thought all beers taste like crap, some just less crappy than others. I have enjoyed the energy given off when visiting NYC. But then dealing with buying, remodeling and selling a brownstone in Manhattan left an ugly taste for the whole city. If I never set another foot in NYC that’s fine with me.

My wife has todays morning spectacle about a NYC court arraignment on TV. Thankfully for me the sound is running via her hearing aides and I don’t have to listen. I read that Mickey Mouse and the Florida Governor are at it again. It’s wonderful to see a personal vendetta against a company involving so many attorneys. If I was the Mouse, I‘d start slowly closing shop and move it all to Texas, or buy an island like the US Virgin Islands and convert it

My self imposed hiatus from the weathering bench ends today. I am eager to start on a total of 78 intermodal well car units and spline cars. I will have a helper today. From what I understand most of the well cars are terrible rollers out of the box. The bolster pin is too tight and needs a light sanding to allow the trucks to turn freer. Then the trucks need to be tuned using the reamer from MicroMart. My friend will be working on those 2 things. He is a guru on intermodal and has done clinics at Western Wi. and Minnesota meets on how to fix these. After breakfast I will start disassembling the wheels and trucks from the cars. He’ll be here by 10 and hopefully by dinner all the cars will have been sprayed with a Matt clear. After dinner I will head to the LHS to pick up some supplies. Talked to the owner last night and he has everything set aside for me, so it will be just a hit and run visit. I am not sure I have enough of my wash colors so rather then run out of supplies during a project order more before you begin…

enjoy the day

About 40 years ago a missing person was found 100 feet down in Lake Gilead in Carmel NY. They claimed he was ice fishing at the end of the season and fell through the ice. They said the cause was that his snow suit was tucked into to his boots and the suit filled with water and dragged him down to the bottom.
I would not be going on the ice this late in the season.

Tom It use to be a great place to visit now you have to keep on looking over your shoulder in fear of someone hitting you on the head.
I will not even attempt to cross the Hudson River over the George Washinton bridge because the chance of getting lost on some back street where you can't find your way back to the bridge crossing. Not great neighborhoods to be driving around in.

Have been mostly a "burb" person, but have always wished the difference. Two BIL"S escaped the burbs and each have 2.5-3 acres a few miles from town - bought back during the housing crash in the early 90's. The Spousal Unit and I, both starting over with nothing, bought what we could afford at that time. Since then the prices have been just outside our reach without jeopardizing everything, bummer!
If I could just get her to agree to Texas!

If it were not for the present administration, the Spousal Unit and I would have taken the chance on purchasing the MIL's place - even though things would have been tight.

GUY and WILLIE each have the best in my opinion. SWAL wants to clutter up the landscape with shotgun houses! LOL

Morning all,

64° and clear this morning with fire danger and high wind warnings in place. Busy day in Doo Dah.
Supposed to get to 85° later. Some schools in SW Kansas have closed so they don't have to evacuate. I guess it makes sense as their wind gusts are expected closer to the 70 MPH range than our 55-60 MPH speeds here.

Turned on the sprinkler system yesterday. Not really being run yet, but needs to be charged for the guy that does the annual test on the backflow preventer. I found that most of my Azealia bushes died over the winter. 5 of the 6 are gone, probably due to the dry from last fall. I'd plant cactus, but it would be too wet...😆 The Saucer magnolia "bush" however is doing well. Twice I thought I killed it, but still it hangs on. Currently 12 feet wide and about the same tall, really fills up the side yard. It is currently blooming and tends to bloom 3 times a year:

May be off all day tomorrow as I broke a tooth. As always on something that you wouldn't expect (a chicken nugget). Wondered how a piece of bone got into them. I probably bought another crown. So much for vacation in two weeks. Not like we were planning to go anywhere. Does cut into the reserve funds.
