Finished the oil truck, so just a few foto's.

Dis-assembled the truck, you can see the truck was well used.

Cleaned it all up and stripped what I could, and then re-sprayed.

Just need to dull coat this now, and it's done. :)

I’ve always wanted to see the deserts in the western part of the US. I realize that there isn’t much to see but I’ve never seen one.(and I’m 53) Yellowstone would be cool to see too someday.
If you are going to do Yellowstone, make some time for Glacier National Park. Yellowstone is cool, but Glacier is better as it has trains running on its southern border. Whitefish is a hop and a jump from there too ( more trains).

Afternoon All,

Started out with chores today then watched a bit of telly (as Smudge would say). :) Tomorrow I'm cleaning the upper part of the driveway, sidewalk, vinyl fence and the gutters (fronts). Fun times. Probably not much of anything going on later today besides cooking supper and more boob tube.

Guy- Thank you for your kind words. It's great to see you posting again. That is way, way too much snow for me.

Bob- I grew up in the desert so I always was excited to see forests.

TomO- Interesting project. I don't think I have ever seen one in real life either.

Chad- It seems to me you have made a lot of progress since your last update. Now if it will quit snowing.

David- Great model and 1:1 photos.

rgeiter- Nice looking house.

Patrick- I hope you and your family remain safe.

James- That is an amazing photo.

Willie- More great scenes.

Smudge- Nice job on the truck.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Bob In 1966 I was in the Sahara desert for 10 days fighting a fake war against the British. There's nothing there, sand that's it. There was one oasis. that I thought I seen in the movie Abbott & Costello in The Foreign Legion.

I was born in the desert (Phoenix area, back before it took off) and when I was 3 we moved to the outskirts of the 'burbs so that two streets over was open desert. S pent years 3-10 running aorund the desertm climbing small hills (that we called mountains), catching lizards, etc. Then we moved to the woods of Mass and my teen age years were there, running around the woods -- everyone had an acre or three and no one cared if you were out back running around in their woods. Now live in the Salt Lake Valley (with other stops in between). So high desert with mountains.

BUT, 2 years ago we drove from Salt Lake area down to Scottsdale for the Nike Sectionals swim competition. Just my son and I. We drove down I-15 through Vegas and from there you get an interstate for a short while and you then end up on state highways down through Arizona. The "solitude" level was very high and it was so cool to be driving through this rocky hilly desert terrain with no one around but some cactus and a wind farm now and then. It was a cool experience, despite having live in Arizona as a kid. The Phoenix valley desert was much different than this.

One of these pics (first one) may be southern Utah (from the same trip) but the others are from the state highway outback in Arizona from Kingman down to the Phoenix area. The pictures don't do it justice. I was sriving so didn't get a chance to take many pics of the scenery. Coming home was daylight and going down was night time, which was also a cool experience.

Note that this is very different than the sand desert in S Arizona (Tucson etc) and S California etc.
