That would certainly help but getting that hot is a concern ... has to be something more to it I would think ... ?
Maybe one resistor at the power supply.
Try adding a 1K resistor - that is what I use on all my building lights, even though they are LEDS.

Do I see a new Control Panel being made in the near future then?
This control panel is made out of heavy gauge steel.
What I'll probably do is move some of the switches closer to where they correspond on the layout, and get some pinstriping tape to redo the diagram to something approaching reality.
Maybe one resistor at the power supply.
If all your powering is your lights, then it would work, or you could just get a cheap dimmer from Amazon or a local LHS

They're 14v bulbs, and bulbs have always been very warm when operated at their rated voltage. I usually source an old DC power pack, wire the lights up to the variable voltage, and turn things down to about 75%. They look better as well as not getting bonfire-hot.

Probably something bigger, as their bulbs not LED's.

Before things get too far out of hand, thanks for all the positive comments.
I'll take some more photos later. It's now time for me to grab a shower and head off to bed. I have to get up at 4 am to go to work.

Since I'm heading off to dreamland shortly, we'll be closing the April Coffee Shop in a few minutes, and opening the May one up a couple of hours early.

I sympathise with the 4 am start, mines 4.30, but as tomorrow is a Bank Holiday, I'll give it a miss and have a lie-in
