what a beautiful dress.
and pockets. I didn't notice until someone pointed them out. :D

I have to get moving, gotta feed the livestock, but I have a kitten curled up in my lap, and it seems a shame to disturb her. why I thought I needed another cat is beyond me, but.......

seems there are a lot of horticulturalists here. my goal is to be on the local garden tour in five years. I'm starting completely from scratch. yesterday, I bought a dozen tulip bulbs. hey, its a start. :D

Jim, don't get me started on bad planing when it comes to Landscapes. Most people plant plants and Never, Ever think on how much work and $$ it will cost them down the road! Your story dang near made me spit out my coffee:D Good Lord man Youz gotz a lawn man slap him a $20 to chain that dang plant out! That yard I had, I chained out 5 Ilex Hollys and cut down 5 Arborvitie ciders. Thank God I gots a truck and cable, They were tough but, they lost the arguement with my truck:D! Glad you won the war and hope the stumps die, or you may be back at it;)as for the hedge trimmer..... If I lived down the road from ya I would have let ya barrow it!!!!!:o

Government + H1N1 = No Good can come of it! Brought to you by the people that came up with the modern day Post office!;)When they fix the post office, I might feel better about their leadership skills!

Sandy, Glad you gals had fun SHOPPING!:p

Ken, your ZTR clearence problem is why I got the smallest rider I could find! 30" is small Dang thing can get into some very tight places! as for your problem, It's Called Hit and run accident! Run over the plant, then offer to replant a new one the replant in better location:D:rolleyes:

The Dish Network tech came by and looked at my DVR receiver and tested it and agreed that is does have some severe issues. For one thing it did it's little trick of powering off the TV2 mode then bringing it back on right when he was looking at it. He said that was really strange. He then tried doing an update through the phone connection but the unit wouldn't dial out. It would say it was dialing out and it would say that it connected but that was as far as it would get. From there it would either lock up or terminate the call, both of which it's clearly not supposed to do. To put it in the techs technical terminology, "This thing is totally whacked". So they'll be sending me a new one via UPS in about a week at the latest. Sending the old one back is easy. The new one will have a pre-addressed prepaid label with it so all I have to do is put the old unit in the box, put the label on it and send it to them.

Beautiful day in Bama country. Had a low of 44F last night but mid 70's expected for today.

Sandy: Just a little sore from the pressure washing. Guess I need to get used to it, as I have another couple of days work to do. Your Niece is beautiful, but I don't believe I've seen a bride that wasn't. Is that you in the photo with her?

Jim: wasn't there some talk awhile back, if an emergency was ever declared the President could force people to get the vaccine? NOT on my watch!;)

Bama escapes defeat...barely! What sloppy play from our offense and even our defense wasn't alert. I think it time for a QB replacement or a swift kick in the rear. The good thing about the game was the fact it was our first game watching in high definition. Heck with paying $50 a ticket when I can be right there by watching HD...did I say it was Outstanding! almost 3D!

Afternoon, everyone.

Chris, our lawn guy just does lawn. No cleanup or yanking things out of the ground. That's probably why he's cheap. :) He doesn't even do aeration. I'm going to have to get a handyman type with a truck to haul the debris away. We're talking some big bushes here.

Jeffrey, I'm glad the Dish people took care of you. Like I said, they usually just swap out the units now rather than try to fix them. With the way the junk is made now, it's probably break down again in a year, but then you get the latest, upgraded piece of junk for free.

Rex, it is indeed a nice day down here, with a temperature of 74 now after an overnight low of 45. As far as forced vaccinations, that's in the plan but supposedly not on the table now. Mass vaccination never works anyway since too many people already have the virus by the time we get enough vaccines. Involuntary vaccinations would be an extreme step and one likely to meet with lots of resistance. I'm more concerned about the possibility of being drafted into helping with the "crisis". If hospitals start establishing lots of off-site treatment centers, they will need extra bodys from somewhere. The law is not clear on what happens if I refuse to go. I would have no problem volunteering if the situation was indeed a serious pandemic, but I don't want to be drafted just as a quick way to increase staffing for a non-serious pandemic. The suspension of HIPAA rules regarding patient confidentiality and patient rights also concerns me. There are a lot of things the government could do but I'm not so sure they will do them if the level of resistance is too high.

Bama really looked sloppy yesterday. I can't think of the last game that the Tide didn't score even one touchdown, and this was against what should have been an easy opponent. The stats were all in the Vol's favor except rushing yards, and that's only because they lost 68 yards to penalties. Luckily, Florida played almost as badly, so we should retain our #2 ranking. McElroy wasn't at his best yesterday but he still looks a heck of a lot better than John Parker Wilson. As long as Mark Ingram can stay healthy and not start a spate of fumbles, we still have a good shot at least the SEC championship, assuming we get by LSU and Mississippi State.

More cleaning up to do for the dinner party as Dianna finds more non-problems for me to fix. I have yet convince her that we are just having a dinner party, not trying to sell the house. :D

Strange your lawn guy during the winter months when the grass stops growing doesn't do clean ups and other outside work to generate extra cash for Christmas:confused: If you and Rex lived close enough to me to make it worth my while i would be at your door step pronto! Hmmmm, you guys could move down here!:D Florid-duh has every thing Bama has....Warm weather, Red-Necks, Q-tip wrinkle monsters, Earlybird specials, and Loads of Bad drivers!:D

Either way we spent the day at the flea market. My wife got some new scrubs and I got a set of Gator Blades for the tractor. Hmmmmm Gator blades......I have always wanted to try them so we'll see Sat. moring how they cut!

Greetings dudes and dudettes!
After a day of splitting and stacking wood (2 cords down, 2-3 to go!) it was time for a treat. We just got back from seeing Jeff Dunham in concert at the Civic Center, no. Baltimore Arena,,,,no 1st Mariner Arena! (friggin corporate name changes!)
:D Let em tell you, he may be funny on Comedy Central, but if you havn't seen him live, you aint seen nothing yet! Things got so hysterical that even he and "guitar guy" couldnt keep a straight face about what the puppets were talking about!!! Jan & I laughed so hard that we hardly noticed that it took up 30 minutes to get out of the parking garage cuz we were still laughing! What a hoot!:D

Ken. You need to invest in a smaller rider as a 2nd mower. When Judy asks why, tell he so that you wont damage her precious plants. Why do ya think I have a fleet of em? If it were up to me I'd plow the flower beds and the front rock garden under, just so I would only use the big mower, but since I'm married, I have to make concessions. (thats a 2 way street) ;)

H1N1 (the hini virus?) 1st gubmint type that holds a needle up to my arm I,m gonna clobber. Or, I'll trade them for an injection of my own, courtesy of ole Bessy and a rifled slug. I'ts probably not a vaccine at all, just a way to preprogram the resistant into believing any of the stench that flows from D.C.

Chris Gator blades are cool, but really tears the flesh up too much when confronting the lil lizards!

Gotta go, Sweetie gonna cut my hair!

Evening All...

Drove through a mini blizzard this afternoon and now I cannot get my toes warm! Brrrrr...... :o

Thanks for all the compliments about my niece. She is just a sweetheart. She loved the dress with the pockets. But found that she kept putting her hands IN the pockets, and didn't think that was such a great look. She actually ordered the first dress she tried on and it suits her to a tee. They are having their wedding outside next August near Aspen. Should be lovely.

The photo you've asked about is of Courts and her mom, my brother's wife. She too, is lovely. :)

I hope you all have a fabulous week! Oh and BTW, Chris...I don't know if I mentioned that the truck signs are terrific! Knock 'em dead!! Well...perhaps I should say...good luck!

Take care,
Sandy

The first photo is of a mannequin in the 2nd dress shop we went to...VERY strange! :o)

Hini virus! gotta love it. :D

Florid-duh has every thing Bama has....Warm weather, Red-Necks, Q-tip wrinkle monsters, Earlybird specials, and Loads of Bad drivers!
Yup! That's us alright. You know, people in the west panhandle have tried to sucede several times and become part of Bama. :p

Chris, we don't have quite the illegal alien population you do and our crime rate is a lot lower. Ya think there's a connection? It does get a mite warm here in summer but not the constant high humidity heat you have. We also have four actual seaons here, rather than hot and not quite as hot, like you. I think I'll stick around here. :) I don't know what my lawn guy does in the winter. He mows through November 1, comes back to do leaf and litter pickup until the first of December, and then disappears until about April. Maybe he's independentally wealthy or something. If it can't be done with a lawn mower or leaf blower, he doesn't do it.

Anibctnc, this the first time I've seen you here. Welcome to Flo's. All new guests have to pick up the tab on your first visit for everyone in the place, so Flo wants to talk to you. :D

Karl, I've Jeff Dunham on TV and love him so I'll have to keep an eye out to see if he appears down here. What's a gator blade? Sounds dangerous.

Sandy, remind me again why you like Denver? That is a weird mannequin. Maybe he/she is cross gendered. I can see where your niece got her good looks from.

Rex, isn't that why the Panhandle is called LA (Lower Alabama)? :) I know Destin and Gulf Shores don't seem a lot different except everything is way more expensive in Destin.

As far as mandatory vaccines, that trial balloon was run up in New York state last week, and had the same success as the Balloon Boy flight. The governor issued an emergency proclamation requiring all healthcare and emergency services personnel to get the H1N1 vaccine or be suspended from work. This included cops and firefighters. Well, seems like there were a few issues with the unions over collective bargaining contracts, religious objections, and constitutional rights. 20% of the people affected by the proclamation said they would quit rather than take the vaccine. The governor rescinded the order Friday. I think a federal order for mandatory vaccines would be a bridge too far. As I wrote before, by the time enough vaccine is available, the virus will already be widespread and vaccinating someone who has or has already had the H1N1 virus is a waste of time and money. Except for recurring diseases like typhus, mass vaccination is alway expensive and ineffective, to say nothing about the obvious objections people have to being shot up with a drug with largely unknown side effects for what still appears to be a mild form of influenza. New York found out the imperial power of government only goes so far before people start fighting back.

Sandy, Thanks! After 6 years of Commercial Arts in Jr. High and High school I should have learned something in setting up Ad's and such. The business cards turned out cute, all my wifes co-workers went nut's. Oh, BTW...Why are you avoiding the camera?:D;)

Karl, I feel bad with every Anole and frog I chop up by accident:( Yes, I hope the gator blades are more go than show! The sand down here does a # on the Lift wings of a blade! I just wonder how long those lil gator lift wings hold up?

Jim, Well I guess you don't want to move. I Can't blame ya!;):p I find your lawn guy strange? Your still far enough south to keep a lawn service guy active through the winter;)

The lawn guys up North just mount snow blades on their trucks and tractors. And a few have backhoes with front loaders. They "mow snow" in the winter.

Bob

Good morning,

Well at least it is morning (but its a Monday and I'm not retired yet)

Sandy did that TG mannequin come from a shop in San Francisco? ;)

Rex - my wife was drinking coffee last nite from the A 'Bama mug you gave me, while my kids were webcammin' and Skypin' with their cousins in Pell City. S-I-L saw the mug [her hubby's an Auburn graduate] and immediately got on her case about it. Vicky told her to chill out, at least there's not an 'O' where the 'A' is...:D

Speaking of which...do any of you remember Sammy Davis Jr and his top 40 song "The Candyman Can" ? Here's an adaptation of it by Tim Hawkins (some of you probably already seen it).

Karl - I'd be all for getting a 2nd smaller mower except 1) she'd plant the bushes even closer to the house or any other nearby obstruction and 2) I can buy a lotta train stuff with what I'd otherwise be paying for that!

I've heard of that! My Cousin up in Parma, Ohio is a Mailman and he has a plow on the front of his 4x4 Jimmy. During the winter he plows driveways on his way to work in the morning and again if need after work. It pays for his growing car collection!

Good morning.

It's 57 and cloudy. The high should be in the mid 60's and there's a chance of rain.

There's nothing on my schedule today except rest, so naturally everyone will think of reasons that I shouldn't get any. My intention today is just to lay back and watch some old movies and stay off my feet for a while. I got the trash out yesterday so that's one less thing to worry about.

Well, after a bit of cat nappiing all night, I sure ain't ready for today to start. My longest stint in dreamland was a big 2 hours and 45 minutes. Add that to the 90 minutes I had on the !st shift, I'm gonna be a tired, grumpy, old fart today. And my back is killin' me!!!!!

Oh, well. Such is life.

I think that the mannequin has "MOOBS". And probably got good money modeling that dress.

Chris, Parma is up by Cleveland is it not? I'm too tired to check Google Earth. Yep, they do get some "lake effect" up there.

I've got two more engines to decal, and the better half comes back this evening. The house looks better than when she left, but I'm sure she will see the one thing I missed cleaning up.

The dogs have a vet visit today. They get wormed and a general physical twice a year and this is one of those times. The neighbors must have thought I was nuts chasing them around with a Ziploc bag while they did their business. Then picking it up and sealing the bag. I told this one crabby neighbor lady it was seasoning for meatloaf. lol She just shook her head and went into her house. I think she thought I was serious.

Well, better get to finishing the decals, gotta get the important jobs out of the way.

Bob
