CJ, congrats to mom and grandpa. I guess you'll have to stay around a few more years so you can teach Aiden about trains...after he gets past the poopin' stage. :)

Mikey, Flo said you were by - thanks for picking up everyone's tab. She said she already had your credit card on file. :D Sorry about the cold abd I hope you're over it soon.

Jeffrey, antibiotics always knock me for a loop too. I had to stay on cipro for 28 days with my prostate infection and I felt like going to the mailbox was a really strenuous activity.

Chris, sounds like your business plan is working. Just wait until that stimulus money starts rolling in.

Barry, I wonder if companies get a tax break if they operate as a Canadian subsidiary? I know the Canadain government doesn't give non-Canadians any tax breaks. I own shares in two Canadian natural gas and pipeline trusts, and they take their tax right off the top, before I get my dividends.

Terry, I looked at that repeater idea but it's not much less than buying a new N router. I've got a wi-fi antenna mounted on the RV, combined with a cell phone antenna. It's made by Wilson and not cheap, but I can easily pick up wi-fi signals from about half a mile away and can get cell service when the phone by itself shows no bars. It was real useful when I was full-timing.

Prattville and Auburn both won tonight, setting the scene for the last semifinal game next week in Auburn. They estimate between 120,000 to 130,000 people will be in town for that game and the Iron Bowl. I'd love to see the game but I don't think it will be worth the grief. Getting cloudy here now so maybe we will get a little rain tommorow, although the closest rain we have now is in New Orleans.

If he's anything like his mother was, there will be no holding him back!;)

Starting when she was 18 months old, she would sit on a pillow on top of my layout I had in Mobile, and would sit and spin around on that pillow, following the trains as they made their rounds. By the time she was a 10yo, she was consistantly beating our other club members, as well as the public, on the Timesaver puzzle. She would beat them down in both time and # of moves! (She even beat me a couple of times);)

By the time she was 14, she had already garnered several first place ribbons and merit awards in the NMRA contests. She was building craftsman car kits at an age when most modelers were still building Athearn kits. When she would come home from Little Rock, first thing she'd check out was progress on the layout.

I don't think we'll have much trouble "training" Aiden!:D

Congrats CJ. Grand kids are the greatest thing ever to happen to us oldsters. You can spoil em and then send em home to the parents. My oldest daughter Valerie called it revenge but that is only fair after some of the things her and her sister did when they were the youngsters in the family. My in-laws did spoil the girls when they were very small until I put my foot down and then it worked out really well.

CJ Congrats on the grandson!:):)

Jim Up here these wonderful people will take all their taxes out on them.:( Any shares that have dividends will be nailed--:mad:---

Got those dull skies of London to look at---apparently this'll be it for the next week--dull and dribbly. Oh. And getting cooler--so that by Friday it'll be 3C for a high instead of our 11C right for today:eek:

I's be doing some other stuff today--the building we have the class seminars in developed a leak right where the classes usually get held--ergo--cancelled classes for today and Monday now will be busier---:cool:

Have some fun with these'uns

Good morning everyone.

Carey, congratulations Grandpa!

Chris, keep up the hustle. :) You will get there before you know it. Just make sure you don't over book yourself and run out of time to do a good job. Just because you get the account, doesn't mean you will keep it.

My package from Walthers arrived yesterday! Merchants row one and two, Walthers freight office, and a Northeastern scale model, laser cut barn. Oh, and a set of fire escapes. I can now finish the general spacing for my Main drag! I'm also excited to try my hand at a wood kit. A lot of the most unique looking buildings I've seen have been wooden kits. Hopeful things turn out. If not, I'm only out twenty bucks.

It's getting closer to the Holidays, I can feel it. My free time is slowly being booked out until January! The last of the store's Christmas displays went up yesterday. I thought I was done, then decided to empty one of the display windows. I thought of stories about store windows in downtown, years ago. I found a bunch of batting(fake snow), trees, homeless children:), Santa and lights to fill out a Winter scene. It's even complete with a old style sled against the side. All I'm missing is a train going around in circles at breakneck speed. If the ledge was wider I would buy a set for the store. The owner was just tickled with the finished product. It has just the right amount nostalgia to it. Now I have to host Thanksgiving at our house then decorate for ourselves.

I'm of to work for a short day. Have a great day everyone!

Carey - congrats on GS1!

Corey - I feel your pain. My 'free' time is being eaten away by holiday-related family activities, plus my kids' schools require the parents to volunteer a minimum number of hours each semester to help in their myriad of special events.

Haven't done much train-related activity recently. Between the honey dues and a feeling of general fatigue after coming home from work on weeknights, I've barely made a dent in demolishing the layout for the new one. At least the modular club I belong to will be setting up their Christmas firehouse layout on Sunday, that qualifies as model railroading I guess.

Good Morning, All!

Carey...Congratuations on little Aiden! What a cutie! :)

Busy day today. I am heading off to church then this evening we are
going out for a birthday dinner for a friend. Should be a good day.

Hope everyone has a great one, too!

Sandy

From the Brass Hat of The Jones Valley Branch,Birmingham Division L&N,I would to say to Mr Aiden, WELCOME ABOARD young sir. Were glad to have you on board. Also to Miss Hope,Congratulations Hope. :D:cool:. Great photos bubba. And as always, ROLL TIDE ROLL, GO BAMA. William.

Went to Wal-Mart earlier to pick up some groceries to last to the end of the month. The rain has been falling all day so it seemed a good thing to do. I got my items and as I was exiting the store I saw a guy in a red pickup almost run over a woman and the child she was carrying in the yield zone right in front of the store. If she hadn't jumped back a couple of feet he would have. Did he stop? Or even look back? No! He showed no reaction whatsoever because he was too busy talking on the darn phone! I wasn't able to see his plate so I couldn't get his plate number. I hope somebody did. Jerks like that don't need to be on the road. There's a time to talk on the phone and it's NOT when you're behind the wheel, especially in a crowded parking lot.

CONGRATS CAREY on becoming a Grandpa! I'm glad Hope did well and a hardy congrats to her. The first responsibility of a Grandpa: Spoil all grandchildren rotten! :D
(Must have had several cooold nights...or meteor dust last Feb/March :D. I got a new grandnephew on this past Monday and a grandniece, Friday.)

Finally back in the Depot this afternoon and actually accomplishing some construction instead of playing...or is it aesthetic assembly instead of playing. LOL:D

Best to all. CUL:)

Afternoon, everyone.

CJ, sounds like you know how to raise a daughter. :) With a mama and grandpa like you guys, I guess he'll be entering kits in NMRA contests by the time he's five. :D

Larry, I'm looking forward to my first grandchild. Like you say, play with them, spoil them and then send 'em home.

Barry, Revenue Canada does take a bite - 15% tax right off the top on the dividend. They were talking about doing away with the tax favored treatment for trusts up there two years ago. After all the Canadian trusts dropped about 25% in a week, someone apparently recognized that was a bad idea  That convenience store with the word "pop" on the sign caught my eye. I haven't called it that since I lived in Ohio. It was "soda" in Calfornia and it's "Coke" down here. We have Pepsi Coke, rootbeer Coke,....you get the idea. :)

Corey, sounds like you'll have something to keep you busy when the subzero temperatures set in. You can always get a train in the window. Heck, Z scale will fit almost anywhere. I really miss all the Christmas windows with the big Lionel train displays.

Ken, I'm doing my best not over schedule for the holidays. It's always too much stress. What's the firehouse layout going to look like? Sounds interesting

Jeffrey, you've now used up your Alabama laziness excuses. time to get to work on those mortar lines. :D

Sandy, looks like you'll be able to get away with a nice day until the snow and then snow and rain start Sunday. Sounds like it should be real nice.

William, nice to see you again. I hope things are going well. Bama ran all over Chattanooga, 45-0. Florida slaughtered Florida International 62-3. Looks like both teams are going to be out for blood when they meet.

Cloudy and cool here, with a few very light rain showers to the south. Doesn't look like much of a rain event but maybe it will be enough to settle the dust. Time to start pulling out all the Christmas junk and getting ready to decorate the outside of the house next week.

Way ahead of you. Here's one I weathered this morning.
