Morning all from Ye Olde London Towne. A nice 21c (70) day but cloudy. 3 days left on this project, then a week off to enjoy the Great British Beer Festival.
 
Good morning. It's clear and 73, going up to a high of 99 later. I may or may not have internet access for the next several days, so have a good weekend if I don't.
 
Good morning. It's 75° and cloudy with an occasional rumble of thunder. The high will be 93°, mostly cloudy with a 40 to 50% chance of thunderstorms throughout the day.

It's kind of dreary looking and dark here this morning with the heavy cloud cover. The weather radar shows a moderate to heavy thunderstorm buildup in my area so I'm ready to shut down at a moments notice if need be. Last night I worked on an old GE cassette player (model 3-5027A). It's problem turned out to be a loose wire. Easy fix. I intend to hook it up to a speaker in my van so I can have some music on the road. That will be a welcome change.
 


Good morning. It;s 74° and partly cloudy. The high will me 93° (feel like 108°) and there will be a 50% chance of rain this evening.

We got some rain yesterday. Tuesday and Wednesday rainfall amounts come to a combined one inch of rain. Not much for this part of the country but it's something.

My brother in law brought me the hard drive and a floppy disk from his parents computer last night. It was hoped that I would able to retrieve any information on them. Can't get anything from the hard drive as it's dead. It didn't even click when I put power to it. That tells me the board on it is dead, so there's no point wasting additional time on it. It's just an 18 ounce paper weight. I'll check out the 3.5" floppy later. I don't have a floppy drive here but my parents have a high speed USB floppy drive that will work with virtually any MSDOS based computer. I'll copy it to an SD card. That's something his computer can read.
 
Good afternoon folks.

I hope things are going well for everyone. I'm back to work after a few unscheduled days at the lake. I couldn't stand seeing the forecast for a few nice days and not spending it on the boat. I called into work on Monday and said I was taking the day off. That was fine with the boss so off I went. 85 and partly cloudy with a little breeze and no humidity, PARADISE! Of course now I'm home and we're back to 90 with nasty humidity. Good thing I took a few days off when I could.

Not a lot is happening on the modeling front. I picked up a few boxcars from ebay and began assembling them the other day. You have to love the price of old Blue box and other kits. The detail isn't great but I don't mind. It looks like a box car to me! My layout building is moving along as usual. I work like crazy for a day or two and then get distracted by life.

Things are slow at work so it's a little tense here. Crabby people (boss) doesn't help things, it just irritates me too.:mad: Speaking of bosses I had better get back to work.

Good afternoon folks

It has been a couple of busy weeks since I last posted. We took my daughter to a volleyball camp in Sterling, VA near Dulles. While we were there we visited the National Zoo and the Mall. We toured the Museum of Natural History, and the Air and Space Museum. We took the Metro into Washington from Virginia. My daughter’s camp was interesting. Basically he told her that most of how she had been taught to play is wrong and she now has a new way of doing things. He must know something since many coaches and colleges recommend his camps.

Next we were off to Steubenville, OH for a few days. We visited the Good Zoo in Olgebay Park in Wheeling, WV. We got to get in the cage with some ring tail lemurs and hand feed them. It was quite an experience. We also got in with the red pandas which are my son’s favorite animal. Unfortunately the red panda did not want to interact. Her partner of several years had been sick and had been removed from the enclosure to treat him. My son was still thrilled that he was able to get up close to one, anyway.

My wife and daughter got to stay home as my son and I went to Boy Scout Summer Camp at Camp Ockanickon in Pipersville, PA. I stayed in a canvas tent while he was in an Adirondack which is three walls with six wooden bunk beds with wood beds. It was hot. Sunday was in the mid nineties. It culminated on Friday with a temperature of 102 F. Thursday was 100 F. There was not a drop of rain the entire week. The Troop did well. They took home three patrol award, and a troop award. They won the Golden Skillet Camp Cook Off and came in 2nd in the camp Water Carnival. The boys got to canoe and kayak. They did some target shooting and the COPE course. My son earned the Landscape Architecture, Fingerprinting, Camping, and First Aid Merit Badges and he got a partial in Orienteering.

This week has been another volleyball camp for my daughter. She is getting to put to use the new techniques she has learned. She is going into her sophomore year and we are beginning to look at colleges. She was recently evaluated and told she could play for most Division 2 and 3, and NAIA programs. As a result we have been getting some inquiries from some programs. It is a little daunting since we were not quite ready for this to start so soon.

I am hoping that things slow down a little in the next week or so and I will be able to get back to trains and modeling some more. Also I hope to start posting regularly.

Oh man. I'm hurting bad today. My legs hurt, my back hurts, my neck hurts, my arms hurt, my eyes hurt. I have trouble reading even large print without my eyes aching. If I keep looking at it I start getting dizzy.

Be careful of what the recruiters promise her. Oftentimes its just HOT AIR!
(ask me how I know.) They also started on my daughter when she was a sophomore.

What sport did she play? We could use some pointers.

Right now we are just listening and replying politely. We do have a meeting coming up with a coach in a couple of weeks. It is part of a campus tour day run by the admissions department. We toured my wife's Alma mater a couple of weeks ago as part of campus tour day. My daughter had previously filled out a questionnaire and sent an intro to the volleyball coach. We heard nothing from them but the student ambassador who gave us the tour was a volleyball player.
