Good morning. A Tabasco mangosteen aqai please. It's 79° and mostly cloudy. The high is slated for 93°. There's a small chance of rain this morning rising to a 50% chance this evening. Radar shows a storm cell north-east of us moving this way.

Well, my mother's Marquis was done the other night and my father and brother-in-law picked it up. It sits up quite noticeably in the rear now and the chair platform doesn't drag at dips anymore. My father's Tracer is still in the shop for it's mysterious starter problem. Speaking of thing being worked on, the approval from Medicaid for the unloader brace for my right foot came through recently and I have an appointment in DeRidder this coming week to see about having it made. I still have some clean-up work to do on the layout. I hope to get that done today.

Consider yourself fortunate. Back when I became disabled enough that I couldn't work (I've been disabled all my life but could work around it) I had to sell off several very extensive sci-fi collections to pay my medical bills. Until I got my SSI going there were many times I didn't have two pennies to rub together.
 
Good afternoon. It's sunny and 92, with humidity to match. Supposed to be sunnier and hotter later, with storms brewing.
I have noticed something that seems to be getting more and more common. I went to McDonalds for lunch today, and ordered 3 items from the dollar menu. My total, including tax, was $3.62. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but that seems like an awful lot of sales tax. I did some quick calculating, and it should have been $3.21. I asked for the rest of my change and was told that was what it was supposed to be for two $1 burgers and a $1.59 fry.
I told the manager I ordered 3 items off the dollar menu, where did they hear "dollar fifty nine fry?"
It has happened a lot lately, usually at fast food, but I also ordered 4 spark plugs for my wife's car, and got 6, @5.99 each. I wonder if there's a quiet campaign to automatically add something to your order, hope you either don't notice or don't want to argue, and add to the bottom line?
 
We are getting some much needed rain but not this much at once. It has been raining sideways for the last 30 minutes. The lights went off for about 15 seconds and the boomers just keep rattling the windows. In hte last hour the temp has dropped form 93 to 71. Now the sun will more than likely come out and make it feel hotter than Hades.

We've just had 30 minutes of rain here too, but it was the soft, gentle type, dropping straight down. But the sun is popping out now, so look for all the good it did to be very short lived.........
The honey do list is done (for now), dinner was at Olive Garden,(yum!) and I have a GP9 just cryin for a new Tsunami! Catch y'all later!;)
 
The sun never showed but the temps still climbed back into the mid 80's with the rain the humiditty is quite high. Been out in the wood shop trying to get the mess straightened up from the garage remodel. Never jknew I had so much JUNK laying around until I tried to make the shop usable.
 


It just finished raining and making loud noises here a few minutes ago. The sun was shining, a breeze blew in, a cloud appeared, the sun disappeared, and it rained a monsoon with wind, thunder and lightning for 3 hours.

Good morning. It's 79° and cloudy. The high will be 96° and there's a 50% chance of rain for the late afternoon.

No planes for today as I have no idea what's going on with my father's car yet. I don't want to get in the middle of something only to have to put it all down. I also have an appointment tomorrow that I have to prepare for.

A little while ago I got an update on the status of my father's car. It won't be ready until Wednesday or possibly Thursday. They had to order a new ignition switch for it. We're hoping that corrects the problem. That means my father will be using my mother's car tomorrow so I'll be driving my old battlewagon to and from my appointment in DeRidder tomorrow. I hope the weather continues it's behavior and there's no rain as the windshield wipers aren't dependable. There's a fault either in the motor or the switch. At times the wipers will run without a problem and other times they'll stop for anything from a second to a couple of minutes then resume operation. If I pull over and reach out and pull on the wiper arm the motor will resume operation. Now that the word is out it'll come a flood tomorrow.

I once again had to rework my lift gate as the E7 keeps wanting to derail in a spot. It is because the gap was a little wide for the trucks. It almost looks like it actually runs on the center wheels and the inner and outer axles are along for the ride.

What brand is the E7? I had a Proto E7A that did that, and it was correctable by filing down the center bearing block mounts in the trucks.

Went to Deridder this morning for my appointment but little did I know that my doctor was a no show. They tried calling me to reschedule but I was already on the road. My question is why couldn't they reschedule before instead of waiting until literally the last minute. The doctor that was there showed me the brace that had been put together. It's too long. The top catches me at the top of the of the knee leaving about two or three inches of open space between the foot pad and the bottom of my foot. It was cool out so I had a nice drive there. I have to go back August 10th. It went to raining on me on the way back so I used the wipers only when I really had to. They only acted up once. I just pulled over far enough that I could get the door open, stand in the step well and reach out and grab the wiper arm. Practically impossible to do while sitting. Even though I'm only one and a half inches short of six feet and have long arms that van is very big. One quick pull and the wipers were working again. I stopped by Lowe's and picked up three half-pint cans of mis-tinted paint, two packs of batteries (AA & AAA), a new hot glue gun (old one died). I was careful to make sure it used the same size glue sticks the old one used. Went to get gas. Put $30 worth in the tank. Sounds like a lot until you consider that buys 8.176 gallons. That's less than half a tank on my old battle wagon. It brought it up to near full. To the pharmacy to get my prescriptions refilled. They were able to do all but the one I need the most. They had to fax off to the doc for a renewal on it. Knowing my primary care doctor that will likely be sometime tomorrow. Today will be spent doing little odd jobs on the layout.
 


I had a little fun on the way to DeRidder this morning. I was going 55 in the right hand lane (slow traffic lane) of a four lane highway. The speed limit was 65 mph but no way am I driving my old battle wagon at that speed. It has a three speed tranny in it and at speeds much over 55 that old 318 starts really guzzling gas. It took me a quarter tank to go there and back as it was. Well, anyway, this guy flies up behind me in some kind of little crossover and starts honking his horn and motioning for me to move to the left lane. Well, I'm not doing any such thing. He wants past me he can move over to the unoccupied left lane (clear as far back as the eye could see) and go around. I motioned for him to go around several times. I guess he finally had enough of being behind me and my rolling road block as he went to the left lane and came around. As he passed he leaned over to the passenger side of his little rolling box and made sure I could see him then flipped me off. Well, I believe in the old thing about don't get mad, get even. I swerved toward him a bit and at the same time hit my police horn. That guy went from pink to stark white while swerving away from the office block that was going to hit his bottle cap while doing his level best to jump through the roof from the incredibly loud horn he'd been blasted with. An 18 wheeler horn at three feet away may be louder. He hurried off on his way and I hope his seat cover will never be the same. I guess while he was behind me he failed to notice the orange and white license plate that says 'Fire Fighter' because that horn really surprised him. It surprises the vehicle inspectors too. I scared one out of her shoes one year. She only said that if they can't hear that they don't need to be driving.
