Sometimes I wish I had a trap door that would open when a customer is being an ass. Of course, I could possibly end up falling through someone else's trap door just as easily. Rough day at work so far.

There were many times when I worked at a nationwide insurance brokerage I wish I had such a trap door, not so much for pissy customers but for some of the sales agents!

My preference is for a shock collar. It's amazing how well people will act if they know they'll get the crap shocked out of them if they act up.

Terry/Patrick/Jeffrey: Our Hobby Lobby never did have much in the way of trains and MR supplies. Too much (half of floor space) of HL's inventory is junky, cheap looking, finished items for the wives to stick in unused corners for.........interior decoration(?); far from being hobby material. Still they have a lot of good things for us like modeling clays, brushes, paints, glues, and whatever your imagination can come up with. I used them quite a bit for glues, paints, and artsy stuff for the layout. Our Wally Worlds has some of this, but not as much selection.

Forgot to mention:
You know all the commercials about selling your gold? Well, the wife and I got to thinking about it and dug into the jewelery boxes to see what we had. We ended up with a palm full of broken necklaces, bracelets, old rings, and odds and ends. One palm full of mostly 14k gold items (some 10k)= $1865.00 YEA! YEA!
(Before you say it: the wife nixed any MR purchases. LOL )

Went into town about an hour ago to get a pizza. The banks time/temp sign said 104° and that wasn't counting the heat index! I had the front windows and wing vents of the van open as well as the two rear side windows. That at least kept heat from building up as long as I was moving. When I stopped at the bank this morning to make a deposit the engine vapor locked and wouldn't start. I gave it a good shot of starting fluid and the dang thing sounded like a Hemi firing up! Sure turned some heads.

Good morning. It's 78° with some clouds. The high will be 104° (feel like 111°) and there's a 20% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.

Never got the chance yesterday to work on the Pennsylvania and Railbox boxcars nor the C&O gondola. Today I'll try to get some weathering work done on the Railbox and the gondola. I'm not touching the Pennsylvania boxcar as it looks like it may be going to a new home. I haven't heard back from the interested party yet. I also have an AHM US Army flatcar that looks way too clean. The army flats I see down here look like they've been through a war zone a few times and the one I have is going to reflect that.

Since the Railbox is already on the shop track it'll be up first.

Good morning folks

It was 65 and raining heavily with the full light and percussion show this morning on the swim to work. High will be 87 with more rain.

The big news yesterday was that my daughter made her high school varsity volleyball team. They have a week of practice before their first scrimmage. She is hoping that they improve on their 1-18 record from last year. Last year her team, the JV squad won 4 matches. Last year’s squads seem to suffer from a lack of dedication from many of the girls. This year many of those were cut or did not try-out. Both teams do look stronger than last year but we will see next Friday.

Speaking of the rain this morning I felt like it was Sunday all over again. I could barely see the road as the wipers could not keep up with the rain. I was constantly driving through deep puddles. Many of the creeks I crossed looked like they were ready to burst their banks. It looks like since 7 AM we got over an inch of rain in 2 hours.

No train stuff happened last night.

The full moon is on the wane. I hope in a couple more days things will get back to whatever currently passes for normal. I've also had my share of whack jobs giving me grief.

Ok, now that Elmer Fudd has spoken, PM thunderstorms, some severe and highs in the 90's again here, and for the next several days!

As far as the moon goes, thank goodness its waning. I did get some releif yesterday, that damn groundhog that burowed under my shed showed himself yesterday........got out rifle with scope,,,,no more groundhog!!

GROUNDHOG STEW

Ingredients

1 groundhog
2 onions, sliced
1/2 cup celery, sliced
Flour
Vinegar and water
Salt and pepper
Cloves

Clean woodchuck; remove glands; cut into serving pieces. Soak overnight in a solution of equal parts of water and vinegar with addition of one sliced onion and a little salt. Drain, wash, and wipe. Parboil 20 minutes, drain, and cover with fresh boiling water. Add one sliced onion, celery, a few cloves, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook until tender; thicken gravy with flour.
