When was the last time you actually fired up the layout and ran some trains??? For me, it was many many moons ago as the clutter monster has claimed my train room and my other interests have taken over........
About a month ago. My recent projects have taken over my run time. I have to clean over 600 ft. of track before I can run any trains.
Just last week. The track needs a good cleaning, though.
Grandson's girlfriend's family spent 11 days with us. Their son is 10 and mildly autistic. One day the ladies went shopping and the guys played with trains. Good time had by all. At least until I see the CC bill.

Actually last night... I got an Athearn F45 (BN of course) with DCC and sound!
I got a real surprise when I hit the F4 key and the beacon started flashing!!
I got some (poor) video of it, maybe I'll get tp post it somewhere...
Uhmmmm, ive never actually ran a train
Ive had 3 layouts, all small ones so far. I like to think of them as practice and learning layouts, and i have certainly learned alot from them. I have had tracks on all 3 layouts, but i have never had any power in any of the rails on the layouts
I hope to change this with my next layout. I have plans to model a Steel Mill and also to model the Modesto & Emprie Traction Company via Free-Mo Module Style, both of which will be worthy of having power in the rails

But i dont know when these plans will actually start.... lol
No layout yet

So far collecting rolling stock and weathering it are occupying my time
about two weeks ago testing stuff out.
still gluing and cutting foam.
Well, I tend to go in a cycle of tearing up the old track, laying down new, then tearing out that, etc, etc etc...
But I actually finished the loop around the roundhouse last night and got to watch a GP7, boxcar, and caboose race around the circle!
Well, other than a quick run-around, months. Last run-around, weeks. My layout is in my garage, and it's just been too hot here in Texas (100+ temps).
Yeah, last night for for me. Ran a few long freights, then set up some shots for WPF. DJ.
Working out of a home office make it a bit easier for me. Go down stairs, work on a building, then track work, then wiring, then play in the yards with a few engines and cars then back to building....
Was at the club last sunday with my new Blueline Milwaukee road A-B-B-A F units
on tuesday night I did a few laps at home with my 2-8-2's
life is good!
Last weekend was the most recent. Ran a 4 engine consist of GP40-2's
Used my MP15dc to put the train together, ran it for about an hour and used the MP15 to take it apart and park the rolling stock in the yards. Switching took an hour by itself.
A few days ago for me. I've been wiring up up some traffic lights and doing some downtown rearrangement for my new WS Municipal Building so scenery has taken over running trains for a bit.
I try to "go for a ride" at least once a day just to clear my head. My mainline is @65 feet long and can run as a continuous loop. The engine yard and small car storage yard beside it are wired and can be switched but I have so many engines and cars there nothing can move. The 0-5-0 and the giant sky crane get a lot of use when I want to run different head end power or test run a car fresh out of being serviced or built.
Prior to this past February nothing had turned a wheel on the railroad for over 22 years. Like so many of you a lot of things just got in the way or took precidence over the trains. A lot of new track and benchwork to be done and all that goes along with it but at the end of an evening of working on something or other it feels good just to step back and watch something run for 10 or 15 minutes.
About 20 years ago... Actually that was my first 4x8 layout that's now long gone. I'm currently building a new 12x8 HO layout.

Hi to all on a lovely Saturday morning...
I ran my AC4400CW 'switcher' from the Kelowna 'City' yard over to the lumbermill complex for a friend of mine just last week. As far as an actual train (Kelowna to Winfield to Vernon staging), I would have to say a few months, on account of the big scenery project I an currently trying to take care of. Scenery material and clutter on the layout
I have to do a good track cleaning as well.
Regards...Ken (Edmonton AB)
