Check it out, they gave their site a facelift. I think i like it better, its a little easier on the eyes
http://www.walthers.com/
hmm, interesting. I think I liked the other style better. I don't like the black text and blue background. It's harder to read now.
I didn't notice any other changes though?

Thats odd, I have a white page with black txt....
Mine is essentially the old page but with a white background and the side menu in a gray side dialog box.
Way too hard to read now. Don't think that I'll be spending much time there anymore.
hmmm It sounds like Jeffrey is seeing what im seeing, but Michael and Carey you guys seem to be seeing something else? Im not sure what could be easier to read then black text on a white background and thats what I see when i go to their site lol
Attached is a screen shot of what I see
I have the same colors as shown above.
I have the same colors as shown above.
everyone should have the same lol
Maybe its just a matter of personal preference, I personally find the new site easier to read and better to look at without all the dark background colors of the old site

I like the fact that walthers is trying to improve, and while at first glance it seems easier to navigate, i dont like the brightness. Even my 14 year old eyes dont really like it.
Which is odd because it doesnt appear much different than this forum...
Did an Advanced Search w/ a Kadee PN & it didn't find it. Guess we wait til the bugs are worked out.
Walther's has always had their own bastard numbering system. But, through the years, I've grown accustomed to it. Site is brighter. For those with sensitive eyes, tone down your monitor.
Bob
seems like its only a facelift. the poor (IMHO) search engine looks exactly the same
Tried a search and got blank area. I don't think it's all the way up yet.

Works fine for me.

What I was getting was a blue background with black text just like Mike. I just went to it and I'm now getting the white background with the black text. We'll see if it stays that way.
Oh... wait a minute here, when I select a product I see the same page you guys have with white background and blue text, which is OK.
What I was referring to was the advanced search results page, it's horrible!!!
Why didn't they stick with the product page matching the search results page?
Edit: They must have fixed it now! Way better, they must still be tweaking things.
I'm sure we will see bugs for a few day as I know how converting a site like this to a new design can be hard and there is always items that need to be fixed after you make changes like this. We did the same thing last year at work and it took a long time to get it stable and everyone happy. It is the same site as before with only the styles changed. I hope they improve more that that now that the design is done like fix the search. I do like it as it's cleaner but maybe a little to clean for a hobby store site.
I've always thought theirs was a very lame website - considering their size in the industry. Useless for browsing. Thankfully their catalog still works.
I also agree. Thier search engine is nearly worthless.
The problem is that a good website needs the intersection of three disciplines.
1. Technological grasp.
2. A sense of art.
3. Understanding of marketing.
Well it's losta luck finding all that in one wrapper. If you don't know how to do these three things, at least figure out how to supervise the people that do.
Most "propeller heads" might have item One. However many are frustrated 'programmers' that think they are actually writing computer software - when they are really just using an application written by others.
