Doctors!!! If you go back cause you've still got the flu, they charge you again. If I go and fix your washing machine and two days later it still won't spin, I can't charge you cause all hell would break loose!! My Customers just don't accept another bill for the same thing. I should have been a doc.

My family wonder why I hardly ever go see the doc, cause their blo**** useless!! LOL.

I wouldn't call them all useless. Just remember, 1/2 of all the Drs graduated in the bottom half of their class.

Claudia, is this what you had in mind.

I don't neccesarily agree with that statement as smarts don't always equate into the ability to apply the knowledge into practical applications. I would hazard to say some of the best Doctors were the least successful in the classroom.

I've worked with some brilliant people, considered to be some of the best in their field but when it came to day to day stuff they were oblivious:confused:

I think part of the problem that doctors and patients have is the ability to communicate. I go to the Doctor with Dad on a regular basis and I supply two thirds of the info as Dad is either too scared to divulge or snuffs off the stuff he considers minor but is critical to making a proper diagnosis. Doctors are not psychics.:p

Anyway I'm frustrated as I am having trouble with a control board:(

Basicly as Fergie was sayin I make sure my doc knows whats going on with me I took all the info I had from when I went into the hospital as he really wasn't part of it but I took the names of all the meds I'm now on and even some pics they gave me of my heart so he could see all , his statement was I wish more patients did this it makes it so much easier for me to know whats going on and then he said something about he needed copies of some things I didn't have but now he knew what he needed so he could be on top of it all also.

You have to help them just like NZRMAC if you told him your washer is broke fix it hows he to know whats going on if you don't at least give him an idea of whats happening as it might not do it when hes there .

anyway trying to see if I'm going to win this auction or not still have about 25 minutes have a good one cya all later

Yeah, and I bet the other 1/2 graduated in the upper half of their class.

Well guess we started something here. :D Well anyway us ole folks usually go in for an annual checkup. Now to me I didn't have anything wrong, felt great. In one check ups my liver was supposed to be deteriorating,(liver enzymes in the blood test) certainly something to worry about so off to the specialist to find out how bad it was. He didn't see anything to be concerned about. On the checkup above it was determined I had high blood pressure, actually it's "high normal" one or two points above normal, therefore medication should not have been required, and being 70 the darn things could have killed me (in fact the less of them I took the better I felt) that was a few years ago and I never went back, however I'll give it a try this year just in case but the pills I won't bother buying unless I'm truly sick and need them.
Sheesh! I go in feeling good for a checkup and they find a problem, I go in with a problem and they didn't find anything wrong, two weeks later they remove my gall bladder. :D life's like that

Willis

Good evening all,

My region got whacked by the same type of Nor'Easter that's made life interesting for Fergie, Luc, Willis & co., so I've been hibernating most of the weekend. Others [kids mostly] have been on the 'puter almost continuously, and I didn't want to risk installing the new router, messing something up, then being totally without any internet at all while holed up in a blizzard. That's OK, it forced me to get some more structures built for my steel mill.

I'm really exhausted now, not sure why, so I better run. Hope you all had a great weekend (I know you ARG'ers did, I saw the pix!:p ).

Exactly! I must have chased several Cardiologists down when Dad was in the hospital to get the low down. I don't think they're use to that as most people either don't want to know or expect miracles. healing takes a long time and a proper regime. And I don't find the info given is adequate.

Fergie, sorry to hear of your dad's problem, and I realize first hand that it is stressfull when a loved one has problems, but I'm glad he's on the mend and hopefully a full recovery, and yes it does take time and care for for the body to repair serious problems. I have a good doctor now, the best I've ever had. In reference to the gall bladder problem it was he who re examined the lab work and found the problem. He most likely did this because he knows I'm not a hypochondriac. It was also he who diagnosed my wife's MS after years of wrong diagnosis by other doctors who were probably overworked and stressed by the shortage of practitioners in our area. Again MS is not an easy affliction to determine as it seems to react differently each person. Only an MRI can confirm it. For most of my life thankfully I haven't needed medical attention and therefore took very little medication, but I also realize that could change overnight, but until it does well you can guess the rest :D

Fergie, I think you missed what I was trying to say.:p The point I was trying to make was, you get 100 graduates in any profession. Half of them are gonna have better grades than the other half. That's all I said, nothing more. :)

Now as for what you said about the best Docs, I actually completely agree with that statement! After being a Registered Nurse for almost thirty years, all of which was in a university setting, where I assisted in training the Docs in surgery. I have seen MDs that were some of the most intelligent people I've ever known, when it came to "book smarts", but they couldn't diagnose which was the southend of a northbound mule.:eek:

This thing's gone screwy again. I try to edit my reply and my browser crashed.

I wanted to add, I hope you got your panel problem worked out.

Sorry Boy's!
Got up this morn'n da da da daa

Anyway looks like the system split and missed us on both sides as we only got 4" to 6" inches of the white stuff:eek: Yah, I know... Priceless

CJ: Sorry there, hopefully I didn't seem to be jumping down your throat! Sorry If I came across that way Besides I would have said "Say Ahhhhhh" so I could have targeted the tonsils;)

I think the big thing with Doctors is it's as personal as having a spouse as not every relationship you'll have works. Nuff said.

As for the control board I think I worked it out last night mentally and once I get all my tools back from Dad's I'll be able to work on it. Had the day off and was hoping to make headway until I realised "darn my drill is at Dad's" Got in the van when the hail started then I decided it wasn't worth it.

Once sailed with a guy and yes this is a true tale, I kid you not. It also happened about 20 years ago and he is since departed his earthly bonds

He wasn't felling too good and saw his Doctor who in turn sent him for tests. Well Jimmy got a call a week or two later to come back and see his Doctor. Well Jimmy came in and the Doctor told him the bad news that what he had was fatal and he had about six months left to live. Now Jimmy being the type of guy he was, loved his drink and his cigarettes, decided if all he had was six months he would make the best of it and live life to the fullest. So he quit the Coast Guard, took the money and drank himself silly and I suspect did some carousing too:rolleyes: for six months... and didn't die. He didn't feel worse so he went back to his Doctor. The Doctor being a bit perplexed looked into the matter and then it was realized something was amiss.

Turns out the lab got the files of someone else mixed with Jimmy's and there was nothing wrong with him, except maybe his liver.

The CCG was good enough to give Jimmy his job back but he had to go to age 65 as he had spent all his pension and couldn't afford early retirement. Sad thing was, Jimmy died soon after he retired.
A true story.

Anyway I gotta run

Lord give me strength,,,i have got to go for my head scan next week, i hope i don't get your doctors doing the diagnostics gent's. last week they said i would have to wait 8 months for a scan and today i get a call saying come in next week as we didn't see the urgent bit on the Doc's request sheet.

Wow Steve nothing to serious I hope, I was having large headaches for awhile, I gave blood at my donor centre and all is good now, I just let blood go every three months.

Ken.

Evening all, Flo sure could use a cold glass of water please.
Well I have some great news. A few years back, I bought the house next door. I got a good deal on it, so I couldn't pass it up. We didn't want to rent it so we just used it for storage. It's not a real big house, just five rooms. Last week me and Cathy ( my wife ) were talking, and she said the house wasn't doing us any good just sitting there. I've always wanted a good size HO layout, so this spring she is going to have a big yard sale to clear everything out and I will have the whole house for trains !!! I need to do some work inside and run power to it, then I'll be ready. What do you guys think ?

Take care.

Stan.

This is very true. The trick IS finding someone that you CAN work with. Example:
Ten years ago, I was having severe Gall Bladder trouble. I was sent to a surgeon, who agreed to do the surgery. Key point, when the GB was removed, it was infected, there were no stones. On my follow-up visit, I told the surgeon about some more abdominal pain I was having on the lt. side. It appears the GB pain was masking it. He said, he didn't think there was anything he could do about that.

Fast forward six months. the pain is now so bad I can not walk without difficulty. My Doc sends me to the first surgeon's senior partner for an evaluation. The partner asks if I want to see the MD that took my GB out since he was "familiar" with me. I didn't care. The MD comes in and without even examining me, says to me, my wife and the senior partner, "I told you six months ago, there was nothing I could do for you. Go home and learn to live with the pain." The senior partner, his nurse, me, and my wife all turned purple at the same time. Senior partner said to Surgeon #1, "Dr, will you step out into the hall with me?" I can't tell you what was said, but it wasn't pleasant. Within 10 minutes the senior partner had examined me and ordered some stat(Immediate) labwork. My White Cell Count, indicative of infection, was 42,390. Normal is between 4000 and 10,000. Two days later I had 22" of a badly infected colon removed. Pathologist stated it was within 24 hrs of rupturing, and if it had it would have killed me.

Yeah, you definitely gotta find someone you almost consider another spouse.

Stan; Wow! A whole house!! Now all ya gotta do is have the ARG come over and help!

Steve; Head scan huh? Hope its nothing to serious. At least that is one advantage to non-socailized medicine. The longest I ever waited for a test like that was 12 days. But it was at the University here.

Lord give me strength,,,i have got to go for my head scan next week,
Steve, look at it in a different way. The scan is just a tool to diagnose or confirm what your problem is. The worse part of any problem is not knowing what the cause is. Once that is determined the cause can be removed or in lieu of that you can learn to live comfortably with it by avoiding whatever brings the problem on. Like my wife's MS, now that can't be cured at this date, however there are foods and vitamins that help and knowing what to avoid can lessen or just about eliminate the exacerbations thereby allowing her to have a better life. So my friend, go for that Scan with a positive attitude (my wife couldn't walk when she went for hers) but she can since those days and that was 11 years ago. Have faith.

Willis, Sorry about the wife having MS, I didn't know. But nowadays with the research & advancements made with MS, MD, & other scarring, "wasting" muscular diseases, they are not the death sentence these diagnosis once were. I had a teacher friend in HS in the 1960's that died about three years after being diagnosed with MS. If he was diagnosed today, I'm sure that with all the advancements now, his life span could have been in decades.
