Good Morning All. Clear, 70° and quite bright. Full moon on Friday. High yesterday of 95°, which is the forecasted high for the next ten days at least. Overnight lows around 70°± for the same time period. Maybe rain next month, the 2% chance yesterday didn't happen! Today's chance is up to 4% - not sure why they even put that in the forecast other than to CYA. Due to the complete lack of wind yesterday, we awoke to an AQI of 62 this morning. Expecting to remain in the moderate range all day.
Back to the doctor thing today, a vascular surgeon who I have seen before. He's going to look at all of the ultrasound scans from last month; the ones that one office couldn't manage to get to the other. I personally dropped them off about 10 days ago. The interesting thing is that the primary care person said that they sent them four times, but the specialist's office claimed that they never received them. Interesting thing though, is that they received the referral that was sent in the same manner!?!? It was a real time-consuming drag filling out the patient paperwork for this visit, 12 pages of stuff that hasn't changed since my last visit in 2020, except for a couple of medication changes. Those I have on a spreadsheet already so I just have to print them out rather than grabbing each bottle to get the spelling and dosage size.
I climbed on the tractor yesterday and did some more mowing, back yard and much of the north side. After it warmed up, it was laundry and dishwasher tasks indoors. After the doctor today, I will attempt to scrub the stovetop. I can do it but I can never make the other half happy.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I completed the second wing of the Motor Inn.
So it was time to add the guardrails around the roof on the wings. One went OK.
The other one was missing three posts. I fashioned my own using .040" styrene rod. The posts themselves are .060" but I don't have any of that size in the styrene stash. I don't think that it will be noticeable as they will be in the back anyway.
A little paint next and that will complete the upper part of the structure. Next I will work on the pedestal bases and staircases. There's no building base included with this kit, it is intended to just rest on the layout. I'll have to see how that works out; I can always add a flat styrene sheet to it.
James/Sherrel - Another ATSF FP45, #97 is at the Museum of the American Railroad, located about 30 miles away from me in Frisco TX. I believe that it still is operational.
Curt - I have several areas on the layout where that structure would fit, and also not look out of place. I can't model the adjoining highway; I'll have to use my imagination. Despite it's shortcomings, it was a gift from my late mother and I never had the heart to get rid of it.
Tom O - The city of West alongside I35 is always a stopping point for us. Kolaches and pigs-in-a-blanket are always welcome on that trip. I'll be stopping there near the end of October, since on this year's trip to Gulf Shores AL, we plan to take IH10 all the way to San Antonio on the return trip; to see our son/grandson. Hoping to work in the train museums in Galveston and Texas City along the way as well. Then north on IH35 through West on the way home. Of course we'll use TX-130 (speed limit 85 mph) to bypass Austin.
Yes, the express lanes have done wonders for getting through Ft Worth.
Today would have been Meatloaf's (
Bat out of Hell) 76th birthday, but we unfortunately lost him last year.
Everybody have a great Wednesday.
