Happy Thanksgiving to all! Enjoy your day and food however you want. There are a few times I am banned from the kitchen. When we have a gathering that doesn’t involve the use of a charcoal or gas fired grill and when Terry is baking. Then there is Thanksgiving, prep on Wednesday is stay away but the day itself I’m the gofer.

It’s strange today, we normally have the big dinner with family around 11 or 1 depending on the football and who is playing. Terry is a huge Packer fan but also a NFL fan. The Packers have the late game at 8:30pm Eastern so Terry has nothing for me or her to do till noon. The plan is dinner at 6is for the 2 of us. Great leftovers that we have no need to share…

WILLIE, we received our final bill from our travels on the Texas toll roads. 5 days in Texas cost us $161.50. Finally Terry understood why I wanted the Texas toll tag. By signing up for one she reduced the bill by $42+. If we had one in the car while traveling the bill would have been in the $70+ area. As we sat on the road in Dallas traffic I thought those prices had risen, turns out I was correct. The brochure coming will tell us what other States the tag will cover. We have a tag for Illinois mainly but I think it also covers Indiana and Michigan tolls. We gave up other Eastern tags as at the time didn’t cover other states, just the one for the tag

I still watch some NFL, more the last couple seasons (mainly Packer games) than I had for years since we gave up our tickets in 2016. But today will be a day on the layout. No weathering, just running trains and working on my loading dock building. The daughter and family are traveling and since the grandson cannot play in Friday’s hockey games the family is extending the stay at the SIL’s brothers place. There are 2 Friday games, no Saturday games but 3 games on Sunday. So the g/s will miss at least 5 games! We said no to all invites for today and the weekend. A good recovery period…

Be well and enjoy the day

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Bah. Humbug!
After seeing the posted pictures and reading the menus for today, I have gained 6 pounds and my blood sugar is 18 points above normal.
However, I am thankful for all the people who contribute to the forum and make my days more interesting.
After reading all the food prep activities, I am glad to be a Guest. Eldest son is doing Thanksgiving, so all I have to do is show up.

To all, Happy Thanksgiving, and a Merry Festival of Greed.

On our Thanksgiving table:
Turkey
Extra-large carrots and potatoes used to form a rack and baked under the turkey
Sauerkraut
Mashed potatoes
Green bean casserole
Corn
Dressing
Gravy
Cranberry sauce
Candied yams
Fresh baked rolls
All homemade and served hot, without the use of a microwave.

The deserts:
Sugar free pecan pie
Sugar free apple pie
Cherry/Apple cake
Cranberry cake
Pumpkin cheesecake
All home made
We bought a walnut cake and whipped cream.

I have no idea how my wife manages to do all this and looks good doing it. I am thankful for my exceptionally beautiful and incredibly productive little angel.

Once again, I ate too many carrots, they are irresistible when baked under the turkey! I was unable to finish half my plate. I had more than enough to taste all the things I like best, but no room for dessert. The leftovers will be great!

I hope Everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!
