Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin where at 6am the high for the day was reached at 50f degrees. 47 now and that maybe the high for the balance of today. No rains today but very breezy as the wind is 7mph gusty into the low 20’s.

I have to go pick up another set of adjusted “meds” from last week’s lab and doctor visit.

The wife tells me that I am making a soda and coffee run today as both are on sale at a grocer we do not normally visit. I am going because the medicine run is for me at the pharmacy and between the soda and coffee sale is the LHS that I have a credit with.

I watched zero football yesterday and for what seems like a miracle to me I still have not checked yesterday’s box scores for the NFL or NHL. Tuesday I did start binge watching the Lincoln Lawyer. This morning at 12:45 I finished season 2. Season 3 is online but it maybe a while before I get to it.

I was told by the daughter yesterday both my sister and brother plus his g/f are coming to Wisconsin for Christmas. Our last Christmas together had been 2019 due to Covid and then cancer issues for the brother’s g/f. We are 5 hours ahead of Hawaii so I will wait till 10am local to call the little brother.

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear and 52°, on the way back up to 75° again this afternoon. No foreseeable rain in the forecast.

Happy Veteran's Day to all veterans. Thank you for serving.

No dew this morning, so I can do outdoor tasks in the morning today instead of waiting until after lunch. Still just a little too wet to continue the prep for the Spring garden and nothing needs mowing yet; but the volunteer winter oats and rye are sprouting all over the place, especially along the road easement. Probably in my yard as well but the sprouts there are masked by the revived growth of the Bermuda Grass.

I did cut some more tree branches yesterday, but they're laying in the yard with the ones from Saturday. There's a really muddy spot on the shortest route from there to the wood piles, so I don't want to move the logs yet. No hurry as these are for next winter, this winter is already taken care of.

Just a short time out in the train shed yesterday, I mostly sorted through figures and painted a few colors on some. I have decided on my next project location, and some of these Preiser figures have been waiting almost 20 years for their chance to come to life. More details later this week. In the meantime, archive pictures again. I hope that no one is bored with them yet; I am trying not to repeat any.
Some engines in the staging yards. First, a pair of GP40X's in front of a pair of GP60's.

A pair of SD40-2's in front of a pair of F45's, only one is visible though. Second one has the red/silver Warbonnet paint scheme

Louis -
As of today, we have had 36 consecutive days in Baltimore without measurable rain. Our longest dry spell since they began keeping records in 1874.
I know that is unusual for your area as well as the entire Northeast, but here it is not unusual to go 45 days or more. The rain last week broke a 42 day span, proceeded by a 32 day span before that. From June 5 until November 2, we only had 2 measurable rain events totaling 3" in 5 months. On the bright side, I haven't had to mow much in that time.
Tom (Cambria) - Tilling leaves into the garden has always been a routine for me. Leaves, grass clippings, wood chips and other organic materials add to the workability of my heavy clay soil. Besides, they provide nutrients that tree roots bring up from deep down.
Patrick - My wife won't let me do bathrooms, that's her domain. She didn't even let me do them when she was recovering from her knee replacements.
Thanks for the OJ and bacon.
Guilford - Looks like a nice show. Glad to read that you had a good time and got to wander around.
Swal - I learned Semper Fi years ago. Two years of Latin language courses in HS did it!

Stock Market is open today??? No mail or banks! Market seems to be continuing it's rally. I've already made more there this year than my best year at work!
Everyone have a magnificent Monday

Here's a hat tip to all veterans. Thanks for your service.

That's MissusTroy walking past the Korean War Veterans recreation at the Veteran's Memorial and Shrine in Ft. Wayne IN. Her father served in Korea. What's special about this recreation of the official memorial, is they've sculpted the faces of local veterans who served in Korea (not my father-in-law) who serve now (or in the past) with the local organization. Plaques around the memorial detail their service.

If you're ever in the area, it's very worth a visit. They have what I believe is a Sgt York??, as well as the largest of the travelling Vietnam memorial walls, now permanently displayed on the grounds.

Travel wise, I never sleep well before a travel day. So yesterday was a day of sour tummy, low sleep, low energy, and lots of ginger ale. This morning, I'm starting to get re-hydrated. I hate having to pee a lot on a long flight.

Coming home will be a nightmare. to keep in budget, I booked a redeye-flight out of Vegas very early Sat Morning (like 1am). I'll get into Dallas about 6 am. With a two hour layover there. Any Texans want to come entertain me? Drive by the airport waving? Or mooning, if you have a driver? :p 🌚

So, I'll be exhausted when I get back home.

Conference starts in about half-an hour. I've already hung with a dozen of my author friends. Going to see more today.

EDIT: Removed fabricated info about S King and Muskrat... they're feuding, but not to that extent.,

That's the update for now.

My wife's sister passed away 2 days ago. She was living in a NY state home called The Ark. I called The Ark and let them know I would be paying for the funeral costs etc. They told me she had saved up $20,000.00 for that purpose but any money not spent would go to the state. The residents living there work so I don't know how much of their money is put aside for their expenses, but I told them I'm fine with that. I thought I'd be paying for everything so that's some good news.

Willie I took Latin 1 and 2 and don't remember one word of it. Years later I thought it would have been a better idea if the school had a course on how to wire your house 1 & 2 or maybe now in 2024 the evils of credit card debt 1 & 2 and how to avoid it. Something more relevant.

Also a mandatory class on how important investing young is. Since it doesn't seem to be taught at home.

I was lucky, my dad drilled that in my head before graduating high school. Every raise up your 401K by at least half of the raise. He always said you will never miss, because you never had it.

Good afternoon. It’s partly cloudy and 83.
I was able to take some time yesterday and run some trains. I’ve discovered an issue with my Arnold SW1, it runs erratically in reverse. Forward is fine. I’m leaning toward a pickup problem from the front truck, and will be pulling it apart to investigate over the next few days.

I have found in the last week or two I am getting offer emails on ebay items I have looked at but then passed on, even things I have accidentally clicked on.

Rubbish like this for example...

Pretty sure the Espee never rostered one of these, let alone numbered it in the small switcher series..

My wife and I went uptown for lunch today and walked by Veterans park. They redid it a couple of years ago and paved the walkway up to the memorial with bricks that had the names of the veterans who served from town, what branch, length of service and if they fought in a conflict. She filled out the form for her father who was a Korean War vet. She had not seen his brick yet and wanted to go find it, so we did. Unfortunately he passed before completion so he never got to see it in person.

In looking for it, I didn't realize how many Veterans we have had in this town.

I joined the Marine Corps in 1968 and got out in 72 then enlisted again in 75 and stayed till retirement in 93. Went into defense contracting procuring tactical radio systems for the Marine Corps for 16 years then was moved over to support the Army's Biological warfare group for the remaining 5 years of my usable life. Fully retired now but working as president of one train club, Vice president of another train club and Trustee of a 501(c)3 organization.
