Mix small batches. It dries quickly. But, you can add more water if your batch is too big. takes a bit to dial in the amount and consistency.
Drying too fast is a serious issue with sone products,it helps to have a plan and options I went for bin bags with mine easy to model and forgiving as it dried

Evening fellers. I hope everyone is doing well. Garry hang in there and hopefully you can make a good recovery. Been working on the merchants row kit this weekend. Man this is a long winded project!!! Finally at a stage if I wanted to put it together I can. However I'm not 100% sure I want to at this very moment. Not having this structure on the layout has stalled my layout build for the time being. I feel like I need to finish this kit with a wash though. Any recommendations?

With an off white wet finish you can go between the bricks then a dry paint for the face bricks,

Morning all,

Hopefully less busy in the city this morning. Time for a cup of coffee and one of those big caramel pecan rolls this morning.

Supposed to be stormy overnight and into tomorrow. Hopefully not. Looking across the lawn, I'm going to need to mow soon. I don't usually have to do it until after April 1st, but even that's not real far away.

Electrician is coming today to install the outlet for my son's over the stove microwave today. Just need to plumber for the water line to the refrigerator (I don't crawl under houses anymore) and that much is ready. Still need the cabinet doors painted and a couple of small punch list items so the boy can get in the house. I just wish paint fumes didn't give him migraines, but I know which side of the family he gets it from.

Good morning. Overcast with a chance of rain right now, 30° going into the 40s with a chance of rain.

Every story I read in the Times this morning caused me agita... The "mainstream" news media is definitely on their own program...

Going to take more branches and leaves over to the dump today, before the rain starts. I still have a lot of raking and bagging to do, but I need to get rid of the stuff already raked and bagged first.

Tomorrow, I have to take the truck in for emissions inspection. That means the truck is now 5 years old...with 21,000 miles...not even broken in yet. ;)

Good morning from Wisconsin. The weather event yesterday showed up about 7 hours late but we still got 4” of the wet heavy stuff that should start melting this afternoon.

The son is still here and looking for a decent weather window to fly back to Austin. He says he is in no rush and he said his girlfriend called last night saying she can fly up if he wants to stay even longer. We had a family Zoom meeting last night with my wife, brother and sister in Hawaii, the daughter and family in Arizona and us in Wisconsin. Crystal clear viewing and technology is great when it works.

Not sure about trains today and barely any the last few days. We have runs some trains together.

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Looks like partly cloudy and 54°, quite dark so it is hard to tell. NWS is predicting a high today of 80° with possible rain overnight. Then we cool off for a few days in the upper 60's. Nothing real special about today except it's my oldest daughter's 43rd birthday. Granddog still hasn't caught one of those rabbits yet, and also hasn't caught any of the vultures that live in my barn loft. But she's been after them for over two years now. Speaking of those vultures, they and their buddies seem to have finally finished off those two hogs on the side of the road that have been there for the past six weeks, although at times they were eating pigsicles instead of pork chops during the deep freeze. Nothing left but hide and larger bones now. It's something to surprise the county road crew when they mow sometime in July. At best, they mow along the road three times a year, last year it was only twice. The remains will be disguised by high grass and they won't know until the mower blades get hung up and they have to clean the debris out by hand.
I'm off to town this morning to buy brakes for the car. It's one of the few maintenance items that I still do myself.

Eggs over easy and a double order of bacon with a toasted English Muffin for me this morning, Flo.

Thanks for the reactions and comments regarding yesterday's post; Justin, Karl, Troy, Tom O, Patrick, Phil, Rick, Chad, Gary, Hughie, Sherrel, Joe, Greg, Tom.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I completed all of the ballasting except for a single switch. Barely had enough of the shade of ballast that I use on industrial trackage to complete the job. Still going to purchase some more Friday when I visit the LHS.

The other 14 switches all work, none were permanently glued. Remember that the blanks in the first picture are for a grade crossing to be made later. Today I'll start to tidy up the loose and out of place pieces of ballast. None of them interfere with train wheels, they just look out of place. Then the structures can go back into place.
I did a bit more work on the tree house. Everything got a shot of gray primer and I have begun to paint the wood coloring.

The fun part of mounting it in the tree is about to commence.

Justin - If that's the norm in your area, leave it alone. As I said, I am not familiar with that area.
Sherrel - Happy Anniversary to you and Kate today. It's also great to read that the knee replacement is going well. I forgot if she told Arlene that she was going to get the other one done as well.
GT -
I think there's to much debt built up now for those "checks" to make that much difference. I am afraid that most of economic aid for businesses is just postponing the inevitable . I suspect there could be lot of bankruptcies over the next few months /years when the aid money starts drying up.
Couldn't agree more, but the checks are just a small part of the package. Our legislature has eliminated all caution regarding the debt in the last 12 years or so. Bankruptcy is being postponed for many businesses that should have gone down even before the pandemic. Over-saturating has hurt a lot of them. For example, I remember when Denton TX had 6 Radio Shacks when the permanent population was just 75,000. People who needed to shop there didn't really need one every four miles!
Joe - I would comment on your post yesterday, but it would definitely be political; the immunizations part!
Jaz - The "bin bags" look very realistic. I'll have to try that.
Patrick - I don't crawl under the house any more either, although I partially went under yesterday to retrieve a piece of leftover copper pipe for the recycler. I was able to run the refrigerator water line along the baseboard inside; once painted, it's totally invisible.

It's light out now and now completely cloudy, almost foggy. Everyone have a great day. Stay safe.

They screwed up when they "saved" Chrysler the 1st time. This led to a "they'll bail us out" mentality among corporate America which we may never recover from. I say big enough to run, then big enough to fall down, then big enough to pick your ass up and dust yourself off and start up again. Nobody picked me up, why are they different.

Actually it started with the S&L bailouts that were a bit earlier if memory serves. Socialism for the wealthy and corporations, hardcore Capitalism for the rest of us. At least Chrysler paid back it's loans.

A good Afternoon to all. A rather gloomy day here in H-Town. Light mists come and go.
Yesterday I spent the afternoon in the train room. Not running trains. The train room also has my desk and I spent the afternoon doing taxes. I don't have to pay any additional so I consider that a win.
I still haven't tried the sculptamold but soon.

STAY SAFE
