Good Morning All. Cloudy and 45°. It's raining at the Weather Underground station about a mile away, but not here...it's widely scattered and very light. I did get about 100 onion slips planted yesterday before the meager rain and cold front hit. Only .15" in the rain gauge, just enough to keep it mucky where there is no ground cover. Since the ground is already rather wet, the onions will be fine.
After all of the plumbing work that we had done, it was quite a surprise to hear an additional leak yesterday. It turned out to be behind the wall in the utility room, not related to any of the other work that was done. Plumber was out within an hour of my call (on Sunday no less) and replaced a three foot section of pipe in less than an hour. Cost=$95. I'll have to go in this week and replace the piece of sheetrock that was removed since it got wet to begin with. I think that I have a spare piece large enough already.

Just the usual for me this morning Flo, a pair of over easy eggs and a handful of bacon with a tall cool glass of OJ.

Thanks a whole lot for the likes and comments regarding yesterday's archive posting; Tom O, Tom, Rick, Karl, Phil, Justin, Gary, Garry, Ken, Hughie, Sherrel, Jaz, Patrick.

Another no-show day in the train shed due to the plumbing adventure. I was the helper yesterday. Let's do another before and after series.
This is a 2' x 2' peninsula that I put into place for adding a small town.

I decided to make it all laser cut wood structures from Bar Mills, American Model Builders, JL Innovative and Blair Line. Here's the lineup.

George - Congratulations on your new window installation. Window E is a good company, they were competitors with my company, but they are a bit pricey. However energy savings over single pane windows should pay back within five years. Yours appear to be a double pane vinyl unit, good choice.
Mike - Don't leave us hanging with the concussion reference. Best wishes.
Greg - That's the only picture of that night. If someone has a video then I don't know about it. Two years later my son got married in San Antonio, the only picture of me is one of me dancing with my sister in law, long after I had already removed my suit coat. But since both you and PV Dave asked, here it is.

Thankfully I have lost 40+ pounds since then, and the clothes no longer fit!

Everybody have a great day. Stay negative and stay safe.

Disco Willie is better then the Dancing Queen. Looks like you were checking out the camera lady! Fun is good

Good Morning all! I didn't know that Mel trusted Willie with a key to the joint. Thanks for opening up. Rain appears to be the word of the day. Thanks to all for the likes on the photo.
Yesterday I spent some time working on the coal dock. As usual, when I view the pic I see things I need to correct, re-position or just out and out remove.

Just knew that I would forget something - TomO - That earlier pic of your layout is beautiful!
You must have caught a sale on the tanker trucks ... you have a fleet of them!

Good one there Hughie!

Thank you Sherrel. When I purchased my first truck and trailer, I was shocked that the trailers in kit form went for $25+. But really taken aback by how expensive and little detailEd the tractors for those trailers cost. So now I usually buy many $ worth at a time when someone has a great, not good but a great sale. Walthers has clearance items quarterly and before the pandemic we would also stop there on a trip to Terry’s mom south of Milwaukee. Walthers can get pretty decent on their pricing. That’s what I look for.

walthers.com
3000toys.com
pawstrains.com

3 places I like to buy trucks and or trailers when the pricing is right

My 2 go to online stores are not good with pricing for trucks and trailers, Hiawathahobbies.com and lombardhobby.com. YMMV

James, thanks for showing this. No wonder he can constantly keep modern his fleet if his stuff commands prices like that. I love his work though.

Good morning ....

WIllie ........ Thanks for starting the March Coffee Shop thread.

Jaz and Tom O ...... Your making trees reminds me I need to work on my branch line. :D .... Good work, by the way.

Sherrel ....... Congratulations on the arrival of "Little Bugger".

Cheers !

Wonderfully great photos of a growing tree. Is that a modeling clay you wrap around the trunk? If so, is it air dryer or oven dried.
? Paint colors that you use?

I love making trees! I like HO sized between 35’ to 65’ or roughly 6-9” real size. All wire armatures

I air dry it’s das you can see it in this picture all be it upside down
it depends on the tree we have an arboretum so an ash is grey when I paint trees I usually choose the colour mix with white for some highlights and mix with thinned black for some low lights I cover the das with a concoction which has chopped walnut shells in it to give texture you guys probably reload and can use the old cartridge cleaning medium if it is fine enough I buy mine from bloke who does it for fairs but I think postage to us would kill it still it protects the branches as it is bendable and if the das breaks it does not crumble off I have a picture of the packet but no label shows I did know what the stuff is as well if I remember it I will pop it up as you can then make the stuff too is is useful for foreground trees that you want to individually admire as you can bend the branches if they interfere with the photograph contents I have used it on my dog models as well lol
as for paints I will use house paints samples I check at the end of the season for reductions but I use quality paints too Tamiya are nice and you get a good amount for your money I spend a lot on paints both railway and specialist railway for liveries but also warhammer especially their specialist paints their layers are transparent and great for broghtening lights I often touch up car reversing lights lol

EE pictures of the about modelling uk in uk I do not normally get to see so much of the US buildings so it is fun seeing how we have diverted, I did a 3d degree which included aspects of architecture so I love buildings

Afternoon fellers. Hope everyone is doing well. Weather has went from one extreme to another. This go around it's been rain. And did we get it too! I was about 3 feet shy of being on an island. The rivers havent crested yet so theres that to contend with. Hopefully the damage isnt too bad around my area. It looks bad in some spots but not as bad as 2016. That's all I have on that. Finished up my rock faces last night. I'm going to leave them as is for the time being. They look decent enough as they are. Started working on grade crossings as well. Its past time to do that anyways. In the meantime instead of watching paint dry I just ran trains. That's all I have for now. I'll try to stop by later if I get a chance.

I would just added more ballast and crushed coal and ground the buildings and detailsalthough that walls needs straightening if it’s light weight weight it so it olds position, the fire damaged building would look nice....well I say nice you know what I mean by adding someplasisheet cut lie it’s broke there’s lots of interest here have you a close up of the boat?

intially the plaster cast stone at the back was bare and really screamed model another modeller told me to trial adding more ballast which I could remove if I didn’t like and I mixed 2 sizes and it really improved it I cannot find a before picture sorry, I also added the odd pebble/Boulder but that is not useful on your dock but I think just joining the two textures and covering the painted base will improve this area as there is nothing wrong with it per say.

CHAD - Once upon a time I drank a lot of Mt Dew - haven't in quite a while? Mostly now it is the flavored, bubbly, water stuff from the grocery shelf - I crave the carbonation for some unknown reason. I had to look at the map after your post - I did not realize that it was 4 hours from St George to SLC? For some reason I thought it was only a couple hundred miles?

Yeah I drink a lot more of the flavored sparkling water than I do Dew or any soda. I too sometimes crave that carbonation on the tongue. If you want more a soda flavor, a little of the Torani or similar brand Vanilla syrups added (sugared, or sugar free versions) gives you an "Italian soda" type taste. I sometimes do that for Sunday dinner. You can also use Torani or similar flavored syrups other than vanilla or both -- like a Raspberry and Vanilla syrup combo in a Lime or Lemon or Lemon Lime sparkling water...

I mainly drink a soda when we go out to eat or I am driving long distances. We don't eat out that much. As a kid my parents only had soda for birthdays or similar special occasions. When I got to college in the dorm I drank it every day as much as I wanted and quickly got tired of it. So we've kind of held the same sort of idea with our kids -- special occasions.

In this case, I was drinking it specifically to help keep my attention on driving as the monotonous driving can make your mind start to sleep which could be bad...

St George (from my house to the resort we stayed at) is 303 miles, 4 hours and 9 minutes, per the Maps app. A good part of the way the speed limit is listed at 80mph -- once you get south of Utah Valley (the valley with Provo in it). Only dipping slower, down to 75 or 70, when you go through a larger outpost of humanity.

When I first saw this, it looked like a tidal wave about to overcome some beach goers. Then I noticed the water on the left and that it was really a rock cliff.

I saw this on another forum I am on. Looks interesting and like a place to get specialty trucks/trailers. Paint your own or have him paint them:

From there you can explore the trailer page as well.

disclaimer: I do not know this guy and get nothing from it and have never used the service or product. Just looked interesting and a link I saved in my own bookmarks for later.
