Not remembering "winning championships is hard". The bunt drops almost straight down, the hitter thought it was foul. The catcher springs up, picks it up on one bounce, tags the runner coming home (dumb ass) then tags the hitter still standing in the batter's box (dumb ass #2). Double play, game over, we lost. I still think the ball bounced up out of the batter's box. All that matters is what the umpire thought.
LOUIS - That is just SAD,SAD,SAD!

Afternoon All,

Luckily for us the hurricane turned out to be nothing. We have had a little wind and received about 3/4" of rain. Lucky for us, not so lucky for others:(. Today I did a couple of chores then planted 2 packages of the WS barbed wire fencing. It's a bit tedious but it works well. That took about 2 hours and gave me a headache, so I quit for the day. Tomorrow, I have a late afternoon Cardiac Echo at the VA. I hope to be able to do a walk early tomorrow. It depends on whether it's raining or not. I don't walk in the rain.

Mikey- Very nice modeling.

Joe- Nice cars and motor. I also liked the GP9 and cabin in the background.

David- Nice pictures and video.

TomO- Happy Birthday to your granddaughter.

Willie- Nice detailing.

I hope everyone has a good night.

DAVID - Shows what a dummy I am! I did not realize that there was a hill that high in all of Great Britain! Most of my travels there have been within a couple hundred miles of London - and mostly to the south and west - and that is a shame as my "kin" came from the area north and east of Edinburgh (Wemyss) near the Kirkaldy region.
🤣

That reminds me of many (many) years ago. I was in Italy and was dating an Italian signorina. (Well before I met Dawn I add.) I trying to get her to come to England and then tour Scotland by train. I mentioned about the scenery and the mountains.
"How big are the mountains?" she asked.
"Oh. Over 3000 feet," I said.
"They're not big. Here they are over 8000 feet," she said rather smugly.

For some reason the relationship did not last. I think it was she did not like trains.

Wemyss, Fife

We in central FL seem to have mostly survived the hurricane, though there was considerable flooding. I haven't heard much from Northern FL. Some of that is likely because of storm damage, and some probably because, believe it or not, there are some very "rural" areas on Florida, mostly in the affected area.

Good evening. 71° partly cloudy. The Blue Moon should rise in 17", perhaps we can see it? 85° this afternoon, after a 0.25" of rain, this morning. Going down to 62°overnight.

Sounds like everyone of our group in FLA fared well. waiting to hear from the wife's friend Rose who lives near Ocala. Storm is headed for North Carolina's Crystal Coast. Second son is in Maryland until Friday, and both of his pets are in the care of friends.

Happy to hear that there was only mostly property damage for all you Florida folks!

DAVID --As some are providing beautiful scenery - your Italian friend might have appreciated this.
I thought I would share this one with you.
For those who have not been here - this is the town of Silverton, Co - the north terminus of the Durango and Silverton RR (former D&RGW).
The town is 9,305 feet msl and those mountains top out mostly above 13,000 feet msl.

This was the view and approach that I had from my plane when I lived there and commuted to Albuquerque. The landing strip was along the river just to the right of that clearing in the upper right. Standard Metals Mining ruined the "strip" by burying it under a tailings dump after I left. My home, kind of long and with a bright green roof was to the left of the Silverton Northern tracks a couple of streets.

Geeeesus! You flew GA out of Silverton, actually lived there and have a wife who looks good in furs too? You are my hero. :D

Are you, or have you gone back to retire there? I mean...not all the way up at Animas Forks (where the prices are lower because a famous nearby home up there is in need of some slight carpentry repairs <cough>*...

...but because they are cheaper than on the "Million Dollar Highway" exit from the Silverton valley? A 'course, I'm just guessing about the last part....

[*:p For the benefit of visitors to the area: That particular house/home is a famous Colorado landmark, as I'm sure Sirfoldalot knows. I strongly suspect he will have seen it in person more than once]

----------------------------

Gorgeous area in any case, and they even have real trains! Still. Today. And occasionally in winter when the snow isn't too deep.

For anyone who's never been there, go see Silverton. And take the train. :D

Good morning gang!

60° and overcast this morning, clearing around lunchtime with a high of 79° later this afternoon.

Silverton is still on my bucket list. We were going to go a few years back but the wife heard about a condition called altitude sickness. And she got all nervous and jerky about it and decided to take a trip to a different location. Now she seems so much better about the idea so maybe next year?

Today at noon is the beginning of my work partners vacation. I’ll be running the place by myself until 19 September. Needless to say, you guys may not see me a whole lot. In the meantime. Don’t worry I didn’t fall off the end of the world.

In the words of Douglas, MacArthur, I shall return.

Good Morning All. Clear and 69°, mid-90's later today. Only made 94° yesterday and I got some outdoor chores done. Still no rain in the forecast except a slight chance after sundown next Thursday. I'm sure that it's a typo on their part.

Heading out for the dental hygienist this morning. Not sure how I scheduled that on the weekly grocery trek day! We'll do groceries tomorrow. Store is too damn crowded after the dental visit. It's also scheduled later in the morning than I like to schedule it. Not sure that my wife didn't purposely re-schedule it for this time just to irritate me. She hates it when I schedule doctors and other medical appointments early in the day.
I'll stop at the auto parts place and drop off the old battery beforehand. They're a half block away and the new one should be charged by the time that I am done.

Yesterday out in the train shed, I completed the chain-link fence and added a little greenery.

Then I added four saplings on the adjoining property.

Next a few milk cans to the Antiques Barn, as that is the only place that I still see them in the real world.
IMG_0280.JPG

I found some white-metal castings of wooden barrels that I will trim up, and paint to also add to the scene.

Again, an antiques place is the only place that I have seen wooden barrels in the last 40 years. I've had these and the milk cans for years just waiting for a place to put them. I'll find some other stuff in the next few days.

Terry/Curt - Glad that you both managed to miss the brunt of the hurricane. I assume that Phil missed it as well.

Kinda slow in the Coffee Shop yesterday; not much to comment on.

Everybody have a great day.

Hello from a late starting morning for me. No swim or walk in yet. Hit the pillows at midnight and was still tossing and turning at 2. Got out of bed at 7:36 with a slight sore throat! Was 46f degrees at 5AM per the weather app, 50 now heading to 70. High 90’s per the weather guessers for Saturday and beyond.

Not sure where the day will go from here. The throat started being a bother yesterday afternoon and normally with a sinus drip means I’m about to get sick. I sure hope that doesn’t happen and I started last night to take some medical action to prevent additional illness!

Glad our Florida brethren are seemingly ok.

enjoy the day

TomO - I sure hope that you are able to "nip it in the bud". That is exactly what I have been plagued with for almost two weeks now! The sinus drip with me is like a river!
Gone through half of my prescription and still having flare ups? If does not end when the pills run out - then an UC facility will be warranted.

Morning Everyone -- 67 degrees looking for 91 later. was 104 two days back? and only supposed to reach 82 tomorrow - that's good - give the AC's a little break.

Woke up at 2:30 this morning - watched Star Trek, "An Undiscovered Country", gave the pup's some treats, and had a couple cups of coffee; ready for a nap now? Daughter and G-kids living with us has a totally black dog with her that is the most skittish dog I have ever seen. After seven weeks she is almost to the point of letting me touch her. The pup is a rescue that daughter has from 4-5 years ago.
I have no idea what she may have gone through before, but she is very learly of letting anyone approach her - let alone touch or pet.

Snowman, I really enjoyed flying my plane in and out of there. Most of the time I was below all the peaks following the Animas River Valley down to Durango. In the winter snow season time I had to leave it at the Durango La Plata field a few miles Southeast of town.

WILLIE -- A few wineries out here still use the barrels - You need a winery; that will occupy some land?

Good morning all,

A bit late start here, but I've been working since 6:00 to fix a Microsoft induced issue. Turns out uninstalling and reinstall the service was all it took. Still took 14 hours for me to figure it out.

Leaving early today and off tomorrow as I have to work Saturday. I'm adding some additional work to the maintenance window that we needed to do earlier, but finally had time to work on that issue. Had to just shut my door and not answer the phone for several hours.

Wife and I are escorting a daughter to a procedure tomorrow and taking her and her car back home afterward. Still busy with kids...
