Roco loco speed and controllers

I bought some used Roco locos on eBay, of varying ages. I notice that they all tend to run quite a bit slower than my other makes, Fleischmann etc. Is this typical of Roco locos? These are the European models. I have just tested on my track with a Bachmann manual controller. Do I need another controller/transformer? I have noted other comments about them being slow to start but this is after they get going - still slower than others.

I am new to Roco, so this may be obvious to everyone else!

Thanks for any help you can give.

It could either be the motor RPMs are different or different gear ratios.

I don't model European models though, so I don't know for sure, If you were running them under digital control, you could speed up the Rocos to match the other brands.

I sold most of my Roco & they were slower than anything else I have. I still have a Steam Engine & it's slower than my other steam engines. I think you can buy a higher gear set from Euro Trains.
