I made a video showing how I operate my switching layout Rocky Valley using a dice probability table/chart. The second half shows the switch job created using this method.

I learned this method through @moghobbystuff on YouTube. It’s a very simple and effective way to operate a small layout!

Do you incorporate pickups too? If so, do you pick them all up first, or as you go? You could use a simple dice roll to determine whether the cars are ready to take away.

Thanks! Yes, whatever is left in any spots from the previous session that I roll for on the next session gets swapped out. The manifest paperwork shows me what cars are currently occupying certain spots so if I roll for spot A and there is already a car located at spot A, I know it will need to be swapped. Does that make sense?
