I was able to finish this car a while ago. The car, the load, and trucks are 3D prints, every thing else was hand bent or available. The car was also built for many other RR's from ATSF to Lehigh Valley, L&N, Erie, CSX and Conrail. General Steel Castings (GSC), later General Steel Industries (GSI) typically built these cars in kit from, and were sent to RR's to be completed by their respective home shops.
This is a SL-SF car built from photos of same. The car used 30" wheels, it is a real belly dragger.
Thanks for looking
Here's a basic pipe load. I threw it together while waiting for layout construction glue to dry.
It's made out of an aluminum foil cardboard tube. The cradles are 3/16" wood, I cut on the scroll saw. The tie downs are thin strings of leather, that are leftover from beveling the edge of a leather project. I ran the leather down through the pockets and back over itself, then used CA glue.
I've had the tube in my construction materials storage box and a empty flat. So, this is the result of combining the two.
Nothing fancy, but at least the flat is creating revenue.
Always great to see your modeling efforts!
There are 13 packages of those wire ties for plastic flowers used to make this re-bar load. I mean it took me 3-4 years off and on to make this load. Got a prototype image just cant find it as my filing system is dismal at best, but I will find and post it LOL. I hope it wasn't posted before !!
It took me an hour to find the Prototype image. It was taken be myself in Grand Junction CO circa 1995-1999-ish.
Thanks again for taking the time to look.
Left over piece from the Glacier Sand from Walthers which was to be used for Asphalt. So decided to make a load of it. Made some tarps, chains and weathered the whole thing.

TOM - Seems like you have won the prize! That rebar load is just about the most realistic model load that I have seen.
I should clarify that somewhat because there is a great deal of excellent talent everywhere in this thread.
All the guys have done prize winning work!
Sitting around the house for days makes me get something done. A Micro-Engineering 50' bridge loaded and headed out to the customer. The bridge shoes are loaded on the ends of the car.
