Its a fire train

Mike: That 1st car in the Trains shot - sure looks like the road number is the same as the one I got this AM. Hard to make out that '2' but what the hay! Not in The Fish anymore.

BNSF cooperated today. Had to go and get more wallboard, so took camera.

West bound @ tunnel #6 Troy.

IMGP1026.JPG

Other end just before going over Chanahan Creek.

IMGP1027.JPG

Another Westbound just after going over Libby Creek. Overpass is an old 'Haul' road.

IMGP1029.JPG

Same, EoT end.

IMGP1030.JPG

Same, closer to station.

IMGP1031.JPG

Found some snap track.

Finally had the new cell phone with me and BNSF cooperated. Camera is better as it is faster and takes the shot immediately; the other had to think about it for a bit.

Coming out of the siding at East Libby. Still have to wait longer on those wide angle shots.

Other end. Camera does not deal with looking into the sun as you can see. Somewhat grainy although it is unknown if the telephoto caused this. I was about 80Ft away.
Sure like my K70 better!

Yesterday we took off for short loop just to get our butts outa the house heading for Trego. Trains around here during the day are usually pretty sparse. Low and behold 1st pix @ West Ripley a few miles out off Libby. Weird lighting yesterday.

Heading into West Ripley

Tother end:

One of my favorite spots, below is about 3000 yards from West Rock Creek, 2% grade and you can feel those diesels working. 18Mpg and thumping.
IMGP1043.JPG

Other side of the bridge. Used to be able to see the Control Point at West Rock Creek from here, it has grown up.
IMGP1044.JPG

Then a couple at Nyack start of 2MT East of Belton. Eastbound:

Finally stopped at Essex on the way back.

Always have fun on the HiLine!

Great pics as always Todd!
So what would these be? Looks to be covers for detectors or heaters.

Rico: Have seen these at *some* of the Control Points up and down the line. Most of the time there are only 4 or 5, not the stack you see here. They cover the switch mechanicals during freezing periods. No clue as why there are so many here. Went back and looked at East Ripley and there is not a stack of those there so maybe a storage spot for those too. Other than the Control Points, there are no other turnouts at either end of Ripley ( RiP, or other ). Also, not a propane tank here either, so no heaters.

Dang it Todd that paint scheme is starting to grow on me.
Where’s my Mastercard…
Rico: That scheme is almost exact to the GN scheme ( Omaha Orange/Pullman Green; Gold stripe ) before the Big Sky ( Blue ) scheme. Few years back when BN merged/bought/whatever ATSF they were going to combine the GN Big Sky and Warbonnet scheme. BN made the mistake of asking for input from employees, low and behold we normal citizens found out and BN was overwhelmed with sticking to the GN scheme although there are some differences. I do vagley remember some pix of the 'new' scheme with multiple choices - Red and Sky Blue just didn't work to most. Note that you still can see some of the variations on the new scheme - multiple stripes, different shading in different locations ... etc. I think that the 'speed logo' has been around for 25+ years now. Don't trust my memory!

Ya, get your V/MC out!

Yet another trip to Spokane. We stopped in Ponderay on the way home at Zip's and got bacon burger and fries for lunch and were heading to E. Colburn to sit and eat. Maria decided she wanted to go up 200 instead of around the horn ( Bonner's Ferry ) US2/95. So back into Sandpoint we went. Noticed a movement sitting North [ East ] of the station not quite on the bridge over the moat. Side trip. Went and sat near the diamond before the Boyer siding figuring that the BNSF was waiting for a UP to make the crossing. About 20 minutes later, signals came on for the entry into W.Boyer and almost immediately so did the BNSF head/ditch lights. No clue why she was sitting there, no UP.

Travel over the diamond was LOUD, then I noticed diamond pieces laying around that looked NiB. Didn't think of a pix of those then.

IMGP1129.JPG

The 'home' signal was not dark - flashing yellow. Tried to catch it on, but finger and brain did not align. Only EoT on the end, so no pix.
