You'd never think the zoo would be dangerous...

In the last few years the zoo has received millions for a new expansions and part of it was for a second train station and a new fleet of engines and cars. The new track has broad curves and they dont come close to tipping, and the old sections of track (like where it flipped) are 15+ plus years...

I dont think it would be dirty rails. Make sure its not something lying across the rails, I was looking for a short, took me 15 minutes to realize I had a staple gun sitting on both rails :D. Hope you find it.

    New Track Plan

Just wanted to get some input on my new track plan. We are movig so I had to take the old layout down :(, but the good news is that the new train room is has 4 walls so I can do an around the walls layout. The room is roughly 24 by 11. Im leaving the last 4 feet of the room for storage, tunnel...

    Gluing track down...

I think you could get tape to work. The only two problems you may run into is that on tight curves it may not be strong enough to keep flex track in place and if you need to take up a section of track it may take the roadbed with it :p.

    Gluing track down...

In my experiences it is very easy to pull up track glued with caulk. I have used some of the same sections of track on three layouts. Besides the nails not looking great it seems that they would be hard to pull up without breaking the ties, maybe not. Just to give you the another side of the...

    Best way to mark track...

I would say most of us use flextrack (which would be hard to layout and test)on our layouts so we make a trackplan (or just wing it =) ) instead of laying out track and testing it. When I transfer a track plan I make a line down the center of the path. Only problem you might have is if you went...

    Cork or Foam roadbed?

If you do decide to go with foam if you split it down the middle when laying curves (it is pre slit jut pulls apart) it is alot easier to get it to lay flat on curves. Also if you glue it down (I would think it would eventually rip if you tried it with nails) you can sand foam to meet...

    Cork or Foam roadbed?

I'd say foam. It really comes down to personal preference. It seems to be about 50/50. See thread for more info -> http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11106&highlight=foam+cork

    Why!

For me its alot cheaper. If i talked instead of texted I would have to get unlimited talk which A famiy plan for 2 people with unlimited minutes is $200. and a the same plan with 700 minutes and unlimited text is $110. On verizon that is. With texting you can have 5 conversations going at the...

    St.Augustine Tram

Its alot like the one they used to have in Biloxi except it was a little longer (had 3 or 4 cars i think.) Last time I was down there was 3 months before Katrina who knows if its still there. :)
  19. mike8693

    Why!

I don't really mind it. It more carried over from texting as a habit then just one day starting to type like that. Say you send 4,000 texts a month and you save 4 characters (which is on the light side for most) a text by using abbrevaitons thats 16,000 keys you didn't have to type a month. And...
