Is he the guy with the 100 foot deep,350 foot wide, and 500 foot long basement???:eek:

Did I hear someone say,PARTY AT KENS!:) After the week I've had that would be nice!

Well I got some more word on the up comming layoff's, they are going by a points matrix and not by seniority. Whuch is against the employee hand book!:mad: so some brown shirt (not me) at the meeting ask, "how can you omit the hand book?" they (the Suit) said, "O' were round filing the hand book and rewriting it to meet the changing needs of the county!:eek::mad:

If we were going by Seniority I would be fine.....But according to the matrix, we are all in the same boat points wise! And personal put the choice of who stays and who goes in the hands of the Department head and Area supervisors!:eek::mad: That sounds real fair if yer a brown noser and but kisser!:mad::mad: O well. I'll know late Augest to early September If I still got a job! there is 150 people in my department and 50 are gone!:eek: Just which 50?:confused:

So I'm ready to party, LET"S GO PEOPLE!:D:D:D:D

Good morning.

It's 77 and clear. The high will be in the mid 90's and it will be partly cloudy.

I'll be mowing my parent's yard this morning. That should keep me occupied for several hours. Yesterday was uneventful. I got the front half of the M.T. Arms Hotel set in place. All it needs is a 'CDI Demolitions' sign on it and it'll look right at home. The freight station is also in place. That leaves just the Corner Cafe. I spent part of yesterday researching my Cherokee ancestry and learned quite a bit.

Chris I guess when panic sets in there are going to be changes---especially when those in power are afraid for their own jobs----take it out on those with less power:mad::mad::mad:

But I see we're ready to PARTY!!!!!:eek::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Now where'd I put my own JD???:confused:
Oh, in the wine cellar-------:eek::)

Yestrday I mowed 1/2 acre after work, Today I mowed 3/4 acre, and tomarrow 1 1/2! 5 hours of work and $250 in my pocket! I'm happy!

Good morning;

Warm as usual this morning and will be hot and humid later with afternoon thunderstorms. I hope that the storms clear out in time for Space Shuttle Endeavour's launch this evening.

This comes from my Florida East Coast railway layout.

Yesterday was a productive day for the layout, where I landscaped portions of the median of Hollywood Boulevard, started on a crossing, and completed a trackside building. Some of you know about my LEGO brick built layout.

Yesterday I also set up work space to comfortably do these projects in a 2' x 4' table. For now it is tolerable that the layout has been shortened.

Today I will be ripping out green plate elements on a preset landscaped road and make trackside parking. That way it can continue to capture the gist and feel of the railfan hotspot in south Florida.I will also start building the corner building on the southeast corner, time permitting.

Hi GANG!
Finally got started on the lower garage painting and cleanup. I got the boat out and some things straightened and other things thrown away. Much to do yet, but I had to get on the painting. Today, I started putting primer on some new wood that is on the sun side of the building. I was going to go ahead and paint that side, but I saw a cloud in the sky over in the far west and decided that it may rain. Maybe tomorrow will be better:rolleyes::rolleyes::D

PARTY!!!! Did someone say, PARTY!!!!
Man, I can't wait to see Ken's place. He is suppose to have a secret passage leading to the old Nike site...and wow, a pool to play in. How cool is that!
One problem: I am not allowed to take the BAMA cheerleaders to any more functions after the ruckus at Chris's place. The Auburn cheerleaders are tooooo UGLY, so who do we need to get???

$250 bucks to cut 3 acres of grass?? I'm in da wrong bidness!!!!!:eek:

And I'm the CHEAPEST Guy in town to boot!:eek: But there's good over head too! out of $250 i clear $180,:rolleyes: It's not always that good there's weeks i sit idol and not get any work:( and some time like this week the flood gate opens a little and whamo I'm slamo with work:rolleyes: It seem with this economy every one who got a riding mower is cutting what few lawns there is to be cut:(:(:( Now, the word out on the grape vine there's is a big need for Handymen:eek: I heard the money is top dollar too! Hmmmmmmmm:rolleyes:

Well I got called into work for another broken aircraft. It was real interesting, a couple of rich German gay guys. What an experience dealing with those two:eek: Get this; they came over from Germany and somehow they end up in Fort Wayne Indiana, they rent and aircraft and want to fly from Fort Wayne to the Hamptons out on Long Island New York:eek: From what I understand they do this every year, it' their big trip together for vacation I guess. To top it off, they start asking me all kinds of questions about how the plane works and what type of engine it has!:confused: Nothing makes me wonder more than a pilot that starts asking me questions about their plane that they should already know the answers to. What a morning I had with those two goof balls:D

After that we had some thunder storms today so I made the best of the rest of the day and started studying. I am taking a class to become a motorcycle instructor for the local Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Its kind of a lot of reading and a few test then if I pass I can do some student teaching with some experienced instructors and then they will cut me loose sometime in August. It sounded like a fun thing to do, so I am hoping to be able to pass the course.

After some studying I took the wife out for dinner. it was fun and some good food. Went to a local Amish place, man they give you a lot of food:D

Other than that it was a pretty good day, except no modeling, maybe tomorrow.

Tony - Congrats on your RR's new land! Planning is half the fun. If you want some help with that, let me know. I enjoy the planning part quite a bit.

Phil; Be careful, I might take yo up on that offer. Planning does seem to be fun, but I am a little short in the imagination department. Right now I am just playing around with how I want my bench work to look and lay. I will get some pictures up once I get started and probably bug the heck out of everyone for ideas and suggestions:D

Well, I am going g to poke around the board a bit, then hit the sack. Talk to you guys later...

Oh yeah, party at Ken's??? Count me in, the pool sounds real nice! Does Ken have DCC on his layout? If so I can run a train or two from the pool:D

:)Tony There is a great Amish Restaurant on US 20 West of Angola Indiana. DAS Essenhause I know I spelled it wrong but I stop there every time we are any where within 30 miles of the place. My wife also loves to stop there so I never get an argument about going there. We went to Chicago 3 weeks ago and made a trip over that way just for the food. We then headed back to Napanee to the Round Barn Theatre at Amish Acres. There is also a great restaurant at Amish Acres but it is a Threshers Dinner for $17 per person sit down style and it is all you can eat. Way to much food for Glendia and I, as we get we eat less at each meal.:D

Bill, can I assume the rumors of your demise are incorrect?:D

Good to hear from you. Let us know if you are still operating the breakfast club. I kinda miss those waitresses.

Evening, everyone.

Bill, we all miss your morning opening of Flo's place. Come back! :)

Yes, I'm still alive, just busy as heck. Dianna's maiden aunt passed away at 92 years of age so we had to spend two days down in Greenville, which is about halfway between here and Mobile. Southern funerals are a big deal. One day you go to the viewing and the next day you go to the funeral. In between, you eat - a lot. I think I gained about 5 pounds. :eek: Greenville is kind of a strange little town. It's a classic Southern town, almost like the one on my layout, with a courthouse square and the stores surrounding it. I hadn't seen it before but I was surprised how close my idea of what a Southern town should look like was correct. The town is not doing well economically and I don't think anyone who's not related to someone there has moved to Greenville in 25 years. I was sure enough the only Yankee there, except for a few other unfortunate spouses. Everyone knows everyone, which is kind of spooky. I was walking around downtown on Sunday morning taking pictures and had at least five people, including the local cop, stop me and say they didn't remember seeing me around these parts before. As soon as I told them why I was there, I was OK, but I got the feeling that outsiders were not very welcome.

Tony, makes you wonder about those two guys. I'd be contemplating making a phone call to the FAA but I'm the naturally suspicious type.

Rex, the NCAA was very unhappy about our last excursion with the cheerleaders so I think we can forget them. Ken told me he has a huge basement and big pool. Sounds like the perfect place to see how many things he has in the garage that will float. I'm glad you're the guy doing the painting, not me. At least it's less than the blast furnace temperatures we had last week. We had some decent rain last weekend some my lawn is only half brown. We might get some more in the next couple of days, especially in your neck of the woods.

Chris, I'm sorry to hear the job insecurity things still isn't getting better. I wish I could say it will somehow improve shortly but I'd be lying. :( 10 deputies just got laid off in my former department in California and it looks like they'll lose at least 20 more. This in a department that was already chronically understaffed. At least you're in Florida, not California. Florida still has half a chance to get its house in order. California is toast.

Brickbuilder, welcome to the coffee shop. Flo owns it and it's a tradition you have to pick up the tab if you're new. Don't worry, though, I bypassed the porterhouse and eggs for a simple sirloin. :D Do you have a first name we can call you? I hate typing long screen names.

BOC, looks like the jet is starting to meander south again so you should dry out some. How's your lake?

Jeffrey, you guys have really been getting the heat. It's "only" been in the low 90's here so at least I can walk to the mailbox without getting heat stroke.

We played our first league coed softball game Thursday night. It was, to say the least, a disaster. We played the team that has won the championship for the last four years and it was a slaughter. We lost to the mercy killing rule when it was 25-0 after five innings. We had one inning that lasted 40 minutes. They scored 17 runs before we could get three outs. We had 16 people on the team there but our coach, who also pitched the whole time, didn't rotate anyone out of the line up and some of the guys were about to fall over. We had fresh people on the bench and they couldn't do any worse than the ones we had playing. I was the DH and got one up and did manage to get one of our three hits in the game. I don't know what to do about the coach. Since we were going to get a whipping anyway, most coaches will play everyone to give them some field time. This is a church league and I can't be as direct with the coach as would be if this was just a recreational league but I need to find a diplomatic way to tell him not to do that again.

Sorry I missed a whole bunch of other posts but I hope things are going as well as they can for the rest of the regulars. I did actually manage to get some layout work done. The traffic light was too low for the new SW-1500 on the downtown spur so I installed three Model Power traffic lights that are on poles and higher up. These work too so they are a nice addition. One thing I found out is that it's a bad idea to have to drill three big holes in your downtown with all the scenery completed. Stuff that's glued down doesn't like magnitude 8 earthquakes. Took me about two hours to fix all the damage. :D

Bill Nelson is sqeeking about pet snake bans, sea turtle issues, and how many scoops of Icecream should go on a waffle cone....... when he needs to be addressing $$ issues! Jim man this state is gone nut's! trust me Florida Ain't better off than Kalifornia!
