Good Morning all! Looks like a weekend of 100deg temps and no chance of rain for 5-6 days.
Nothing like waking up to big feet on 200lb men tromping on the roof at 6:15 a.m. Yup, the roofers got started this a.m. I didn't expect them for another week or so.

Chris: good thing you guys aren't still talking about nudity. I was all set to flash that photo of my knotty knees :D:D.

Jim: The seating expansion on the stadium is on the south end zone. They are bringing it up to the same height as the rest of the stadium. On the car window mechanism, you remember about me having to replace two of mine a short while ago. That made all four having been replaced on the Bonneville. We had a 1961 Bonne that had 250,000 mile on it. The only problem we ever had were the power windows; three of them replaced.

BOC: A few years after the auto industry went to ISO 9---(forgot the number) is when things started having better quality. When I started to provide training out of my department for the ISO quality programs, I honestly didn't have that much faith in it, thinking " oh boy, another QC program that will never make it.". Now I believe it works and very well.

Just finished mowing the grass a little while ago. I got started just before 8 this morning and it's a good thing I did. The humidity is just 55% but it feels like it's in the mid 90's out there now. By this time next month you might be able to melt rocks together. I'll be taking it easy the rest of the of the day. Anybody who wants me to be doing some kind of work outside can just forget it. I'm not going out unless I have to!

Good Evening--

Try typing with a cat headbutting you-lotsa fun--;)

we're actually sunny but very sticky---those thunderstorms are still around as radar keeps saying so---some nasties have cropped up recently---

Rex I think the one you're looking for was ISO 9001---It took a little while for the program to hit its stride but it does work----that is for sure---:):):)

I'm going into the a/c'ed trainroom---gotta do summat in there----:D

=sparkyftw;132133Chris: Thanks for backing me up. Can't let Karl trick us with all his foolery
Well, it is time to pull out the tractor and see why the darn thing doesn't wanna play nice. The grass really needs to get cut!

No foolery here! Just lil ole me being me! BTW, get a Deere, cus nothin runs like a Deere!

Not a problem Sparky! Ol' Karl well He like's us to think he's a ladies MAN! LOL's:D;):p

Chris There is a saucy little redhead leaning over my shoulder whispering in my ear that I AM THE MAN!
I'm not going to argue with her! And before you accuse me of her being a figment of my imagination, ask the Road Slug, he's met her, she's real! :D

Good Morning---:D:D:D

If'n you see my typing going wittu4T904UT8 that is b/c little 'Spring' either is stepping on the keyboard or headbutting meand/or the keyboard0jat---I'm just leaving it there--so there----:D:D:D

We had the thundering boomer go through last night----which, of course, woke the house up ag'in....:eek:--and we got a half hour monsoon from it:eek:---which then just became straight ol' rain until this morntjvv----see what I mean?----:D:D

We're going downtown to see an art exhibit that a friends of Audrey was having:D:D....

Have a good one4yw5ij:):):)

Karl: It is a Deere!

Chris: it has held up pretty well this far.

Well, last night my car broke again. Have to find a way to tow her home again. It is having weird electrical issues. I was thinking starter... but I would think my headlights would at least turn on... or even my hazards.

Edit: got it fixed. The screw for the ground cable to the battery - was stripped out.

This is the first time today I've been able to get online. Every time I had a break this morning there was no signal. I've been on the go since about 5:30 this morning. Had to go out to a nearby community early to have a talk with a relative there about some things which have been happening lately. I think we got it settled. Afterwards my sister and I went to town to get a few things and to get gas for her mower. She got a new weed-eater. She burned up her old one last month. On the way back we stopped at BJ's Diner for breakfast. I then mowed her yard. Believe it or not I think I bent another mower blade! Funny thing is I didn't hit anything that I would thing could do it. I did run into some big clumps of really dense thick grass about a foot high but I don't think that could do it. Anyway looked at the blade and it isn't too bad off. One end is bent downward a little. Nothing that can't be straightened out. My niece's boyfriend made it official last night. He proposed to her and she accepted. They're now engaged. The wedding is officially scheduled for next month. I wonder if the poor boy knows what he's letting himself in for. My niece can be VERY demanding. She's a self-motivated go-getter.

Got some more work done on the layout, painted the fascia and put the legs on too:D Got a couple of paint runs to deal with when the paint fully cures and then I'm going to build the doors for the storage bin and control boxs and a lighting cap! Then may be I can get to laying the track:rolleyes: Damn display is getting serious:D How the heck did I go from a 1'x2' diorama to this thing:confused::rolleyes:LOL's http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/album.php?albumid=33

Afternoon, everyone.

Still on the old computer although I'm almost done getting the new one up to speed. It has been about 36 hours in the tenth circle of Hell! Vista 64 bit is a real bear if you have anything more than a couple of years old. My USB to serial cable that I use for the weather station won't work because it needs a different chip set. That's $35. My Palm won't sync using the USB cable no matter what you do on 64 bits. I can only use bluetooth so that was another $33 for a bluetooth adapter. Getting my Palm to pair with bluetooth was a real ball. Finally got it to work after about two hours. Office installed OK but it and Windows needed about three hours of updates. Luckily my printer does work. The "Easy Transfer" did move my data and settings without a hitch - it just took four hours. That's with only a 30 Gb hard drive. I'd hate see how long it would take with a big hard drive. I now need to get my router working with it and install some more of my programs and I think I'll be ready to make the switch. Then comes going through the same thing with Dianna's computer. I think I'd rather have my testicles pounded flat with a mallet than doing this again. :D

Jeffrey, sometimes women who go-getters can be a good thing. I guess he'll find out soon enough.

Dan, I've had problems with bad grounds when I've been installing radio gear. I always bypass the factory ground and get a 6 gauge braided wire and attach it to a good grounding point on some substantial sheet metal under the hood. It's amazing there aren't more problems like yours with the generally poor ground that most car makers use.

BOC, I think I'll start blaming my cats for my crummy typing. there must be some other reason but my poor skills. :) Glad to hear your lake is getting refilled again. Nothing that even resembles rain here unless it comes out of the end of a hose.

Karl, it's always good for someone to tell you that "YOU'RE THE MAN" even if it isn't exactly true. Don't listen to Chris, he's just jealous. ;)

Rex, can you imagine being a roofer in this weather? Every roofer I've ever known was on some kind of drugs and I guess you need them to survive this kind of heat. I know where you're talking about as far as the seats being added but I can only see that as making a bad situation worse. It's already almost impossible to get in or out of that place in less than 45 minutes and you're jammed into the guy's lap next to you. It was fun to see the Tide in person but that was the most uncomfortable stadium I have ever been in. We got the back window on the Cavalier fixed and that's it. She can just leave the front one up. We've lost three of the windows on my other daughter's Grand Am. GM just can't seem to get power windows right.

Yes, it's still hot here. It as 103 yesterday and 104 today. It's down to 101 now that we've had a few clouds develop. The low last night was 78. I was up until 3:00 am this morning trying to get all the stuff on the new computer working and went out to the garage for a smoke. The heat pump was still roaring away. It doesn't look like we even have a chance for rain until maybe Thursday. This is starting to get old. :( Oh, well, Dianna's computer is almost done installing the 8 zillion Windows update files so I guess I'd better see what's happening with that. At least I'm not up on Rex's roof. :)

Hey All...

Just got home from church. Great service. I had to tell the children's story and that went well, too. Got out of church and went outside to find lovely overcast skies with a gentle breeze. It may be in the low 70's.

Jim...I do not envy you those temps. Sheesh! For some reason we have had such a mild season so far. I have heard that we may get into the 90's next week...but it's a DRY heat :p

Rex...thanks for the t-town update. Drove through there in March, but it was late at night so I could pay only limited homage ;)

Jeffrey...Congratulations to your niece! Is she going to have a large wedding? How is your Mom doing? I bet she's chomping at the bit to get home!

Dan...I can definitely understand your car frustrations. My car broke in March and I finally got it back last Thursday. I have been driving the Explorer, but I was putting $50 a week in gas into that beast. It's nice to have my little Ford back! It is interesting getting back into the shifting habit.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Sandy

I think he already knows what he's got. They've been living together for several years.

It's going to be a small family wedding held in my parents back yard. About thirty guests are expected. The reception afterward is open to all comers. My mother continues to improve. She estimates she'll be home in time for the wedding. She's a very stubborn and determined woman. That's her Cherokee blood making itself known.

Welcome to my world. I'd rather have my hair set on fire, and put out with a sledgehammer, than go through it again.

That's why my Silverado has manual windows and door locks. With GM's track record for windows/locks/seats/cruise controls, I feel if it's not there, it can't break.

Good Evenin'--

I thought I was going to have a quiet day-------ohnoooooo---my sister called telling me her car went PTOOOFF!! out on the 401----but she couldn't tell me where---only that it was near London---so here I went out up/down the highway looking for a small woman who was a little rattled----find her at Putnam Rd. ---no wonder she couldn't say where---tiny sign ( and yes, it was tiny). Get her car towed back to Woodstock----get friend of mine to look at car----he declares it an EX-car. She is now looking for a new one----and no, no egg car for her----(she went on a soapbox about THAT topic------)----

When I got home I found Audrey with 'Spring' on her lap watching an old video of a Russian movie---"Potemkin"-----an interesting day all the way around---:rolleyes:

-----------------------------------

Jim Sounds like one of those---1,000,000 years type of things----i gone through 3 of those----I think I can tell paleontologists what was where back in the day-----

Dan The ol' wallet is screamin' at you right?----same with my sister---

Karl, it's always good for someone to tell you that "YOU'RE THE MAN" even if it isn't exactly true. Don't listen to Chris, he's just jealous. ;)

Thanks for the support Jim. I'm guessing its got something to do with how long one is married vs. how often one gets his ego stroked. Me, it's been less than 2 years since we tied the knot. IIRC Chris has been married a bit longer (10+ years?) so it only stands to reason that he just might have forgotten the last time he got his ego stroked, henceforth, I agree with you,,,he's jealous!

GM just can't seem to get power windows right. :)

.
Odd thing happened with my Alero the other day. The right rear window has been dead for a while. The only person who usually rides there is my 13 year old, he prefers the AC. The other day, one of the wifes friends got it to go down and it would not go up! I pulled the switch bezel and switch out and it started working again. Turned out to be a bad connection at the switch. I tightend the terminals and its worked fine since.........its that great GM feeling!!!

BOC, blaming Spring for the typos? I wished I would have used that excuse myself. little Spring may cause typos, but what do you thing 13.5 pound Midnight causes!!!! (stuck keys and reboots!)

Sandy. Remember, the left pedal is for shifting! LOL! ;)

Sparky, It's a Deere? hmmmm,,,does it have gas in it??

Chris. We gotcha all figured out right now! From the overgrown dioramas to the compulsive need to throw fecal matter, to the excessive partying. Just take one of these little candies every few hours, and do whatever the man in the white jacket tells you.:p

Well, time to hit the sack, hey its father's day already here, and we are supposed to go swimming at the in-laws later today, but guess what. The weatherdorks are calling for more thunderstorms today!!!:p ARRRRRGH!!!

HAPPY FATHER"S DAY!!!!

Evening, everyone.

Sandy, sounds pretty nice out there now that the tornados have stopped. What the heck was wrong with your car that it took them from March until they fixed it?

Jeffrey, living together and being married are two completely different things, as the prospective groom may find out. We know a couple that lived together four years and seemed perfectly happy. Got married last year and they are already divorced. There's something about the commitment thing compared to just being able to walk out the door, I think. I hope your mom does make it home for the wedding.

Terry, I have no idea how they expect normal humans to be able to upgrade their computers. I've been into computers since back in the CPM days so I've done my fair share of upgrades but it seems to be getting worse and worse, not just in complexity but in time lost. I figure I'll have about 20 hours into each computer when I'm done. If Dell or any other computer comany wants to make some real money, come up with a way for me to plug the old and new one in and duplicate the old one on my new one and fix every incompatability problem without me having to hunt through web sites. I've put off buy a new computer just because I know the grief I have to go through.

BOC, too bad about your sister's car but at least you found her. Some people have poor situational awareness when trouble sets in. Was that the "Battleship Potemkin" Audrey was watching? I remember first watching that in high school and thinking what a remarkable piece of state produced propaganda that was.

Karl, no problem, I'm a newlywed like you. It'll be three years in July for us. As much as I loved my late wife of 38 years, a new bride does tend to give you a little more attention, if you know what I mean. :) OTOH, we're still working things out that my late wife and I worked out after many years of marriage so there are times I get knocked off my perch for a few days. I'm glad your window problem turned out to be the switch. All of mine have involved burned out motors. We had an Acura for 14 years and never had a problem with the windows once. How come they can do it and GM can't? Oh, yeah, maybe that's one of the reasons why Acura isn't bankrupt, ya think? :D

Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there. I had forgotten all about it until Karl mentioned it. I hope y'all get something other than a tie. Still a bit warm here - 80 degrees at 1:30 am. Should be about 106 tomorrow. The weather service issued a heat advisory, advising us it's going to be really hot and we should drink plenty of water and not stand outside staring up at the sun. Our taxpayer dollars at work

Good Morning---

Got some fog, and some drizzle just bedrizzled us---this is supposed to be another day where we have another chance for more rain----

Today will be get some MR stuff done---got a couple of building kits I'm working on---and if'n we don't get more wet than we already are I'll attempt to get the lawn cut-------maybe---:p:p

Jim That be the movie---I got that one through one of my collector friends many years back. "Potemkin--" is an interesting bit of work---
As for my sister she did tell me that she was facing towards London heading west but she couldn't see the dang sign---the blame thing was almost half buried in the bush in front of it---ended up phoning MTO about it---

Happy Fathers DayTo all the fathers out there

Good morning.

It's 73 and sunny here. The high is expected to be 96 (will probably be higher) and it will be sunny.

Yesterday was relatively quiet. I mowed my sister's yard, tended to my parents pool (added chlorine, cleared the skim basket), serviced my parents mowers (one had a flat, Fix-a-Flat for ATV's's works great) and the Peerless tractor (it needed some carburetor work [simple clearing of the jets]), . It needs a new cable for the engine brake (that thing that stops it dead if you let go of the handle). The old cable rusted in two. My father wants me to look at the old Troy-Built rear tine tiller to see about fixing it. It needs new seals in the gear box and they're not cheap! We'll have to take it to Riverside repair because I'm not going anywhere near that monster with a wrench and we still have an old Murray-Ohio mower that needs to be taken off to Metal Mountain (recyclers). Right now it's just taking up space near the tractor shed. It still has quite a few good parts on it. Rear tires, shift on the fly trans-axle, clutch assembly and mower deck. The old 12.5 hp engine died about a year ago. My primary task today is to get some laundry done. I may get some time later to work on the layout.
