One more quick look over my shoulder with my one good eye................I got's my one good eye on ya!!!!!!!! I'm only 90 mins away gentlemen! play nice!!!!!

OK, guys.....I have the road blocks, speed traps, and construction guys all lined up. That 90 minute drive might take 3 days.

LET THE PARTY BEGIN!!!!!

Bob

Bob WE came down 15 and we did pass through Marion. Nice leisurely trip, I hate the interstates most of the time and avoid them except on the long trips like to AL, PA and SC. When we sent to Sandwich IL last Thurs we I 65 to SR 25 in Lafayette and then US 52 and 41 to SR 2 crossing into IL on IL 17. Then county roads from Beecher IL tp Peotone IL and then back on US 52 again. It only takes about a half hour longer to my brothers house this way than that danged I 80/94 traffic jammed construction strewn mess. There is a lot less stress and the scenery is a lot easier to see and enjoy. If you ever get to Peotone there is one really great German Restaurant on SR 55. It is a little pricey but well worht the price for the best food I have had i quite a long while. Before you all moved away I would like to get up and meet you and enjoy that Sun Tea. In the summer I have been know to drink a gallon of that a day. Also now being into forced retirement that can happen about any day you are available.

Good morning folks

It was 70 F with a strange yellow object in the sky. High will be 80 F

The strange yellow object in the sky was causing problems on the roads this morning. Apparently people were looking at it in wonderment and forgetting to drive. There were back-ups at various locations caused by something that officials are calling sun glare. No one is sure if it is real or just some kind of conspiracy to explain some kind of alien invasion.

While I did not get any modeling done it was still a good weekend. My daughter had a sleepover at friend’s house Friday into Saturday. Her softball All-Star game was postponed due to the rain and wet fields. We celebrated Father’s Day on Saturday instead of Sunday because my wife worked on Sunday. Also it meant less crowds at the restaurant for dinner. Sunday we did some chores around the house. Once the rain stopped we did some gardening in the front yard and flower beds. I moved a couple of plants that were getting squeezed by our Azalea bushes to the garden on the side of the house. In the evening we just lounged around and watch a couple of movies and played some board games.

Tonight the chaos comes back. Daughter has a flute lesson and my son has a baseball game.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Mornin'

We're at 17C and sunny today----and it'll be sunny ALL DAY!! YAY!!

Does the above tell you maybe we had too much rain and dull dull dull?

Oh yeah---the high will be 27C today with the low at 17C

I got some running around to do this afternoon for work then it'll be fiddling with the garden some and maybe some photographic stuff---I do need to brush up on THAT sometimes!!

Have yourselves a good'un!!

Mornin'!

Doesn't it figure? Because I'm taking my daughter to college before I head to work myself, there's now only one day I can ride my bike.....Monday. She can't ride because cosotologists aren't supposed to have helmet hair I guess. I can't imagine why? Anyways, Monday is my riding day, right? So I go outside this morning, and what do I see? Thats right! Big ole nasty rain clouds!

I almost rode ANYWAYS! I decided instead, to just take the van. Oh well!

Gotta head to the doctors later. Remember that ear infection I had nearly two weeks ago? Well, I've taken all of the meds they gave me and it still hurts real bad. I can't even sleep at night unless I sleep sitting up. If I lie down my ears hurt like crazy and I get a splitting headache. I hope they find the problem. My daughter is having the same issue. We're going to the doc's together today.

Oh well, gotta run!

Later!

Ouch! Remember I mentioned the roofers...and at around 6 a.m. or so: how about 5 a.m. Don't blame them a bit, but thump thump thumping at that hour makes for a loooong day. No problem, I'm packing to head on down to Chris's place. I am really looking forward to letting it all hang out....:eek:well, maybe not all :D:D

Rex I'm looking forward to seeing the Cheerleaders letting it all hang out..................you? Notsomuch!:D:D:p:rolleyes:

Flo, I need a cup of the strongest stuff ya got. Last night the back gave me fits and I didn't sleep well at all. Trying to keep away from the pain meds, but night like last night and days like today make it mighty tough to do that. Two back surgeries and a similar surgery on the neck are the price I pay from my football and "young and dumb" days. I used, remember the term used, to be able to lift engine blocks into the back of a pickup truck single handedly. If I could get a grip on something, I could lift it. Now just bending over to tie my shoes, or walking down steps kills me.

Larry, going down the bypass(SR15), you were a few blocks of my house. We are in Indiana now until the end of the month. I've recruited the grandson and two nephews to help finish the move. We will still have a house in Marion though. I find it hard to sell this old house. And since the family is still around here, it will be a haven when we come to visit. It's more like a castle than a house. It is on the National Registry of Historical Architectural sights and I have given thought to donating it to some worthy organization, like some historical society, with the understanding that they could never sell it. Maybe lease it for $1 a year or something like that.

But, the city of Marion, a few years ago, decided to start taxing the historic structures despite the fact that they promised never to do so. Many folks have bailed out and sold their properties due to the high property taxes on these old properties. I complained that the city couldn't tax us since we were national monuments. A few, including me, filed a court case to protest, but it is stuck in the judicial system for the past five years. So, I pay my taxes and hope for a victory and a windfall, including interest, should we win.

I will make an effort to meet up. But with the days closing in to the move, my time is at a premium. And the fishing is still good too. The reservoirs in the area are serving up some mighty tasty offerings lately. The walleye below the dam at Mississinewa and the crappie at Salamonie make for great table fair. At it helps to keep the meat bills down. And how I LOVE fried and baked fish dinners.

I hope that all of you fathers had a great day yesterday. Mine was so-so. The grandkids and daughter had plans to see some goings on at Beef and Boards in Indy, so no visitors. Still the better half made the day with one of her great meals. And I went fishin', worked on some new/old trains acquired from eBay and other online sites. Got quite few lately, two boxes full in the past few weeks. Much of the stuff is older, including a dozen or so steam engines that needed some TLC. Sure miss the big layout though. It's 6 hours away to the north.

Well, time to go out and sweat a bit working on the boat rehab. I'd like to get it mostly done in the next few days. Been a project larger than I anticipated that's for sure. I could have bought a decent, newer boat for what I have invested already. She should be the most modern 1985 cabin cruiser on the water when finished.

Why are all of my hobbies so expensive? Dunno. I guess I'm just an expensive date.

Later, all. And a great cup of coffee, Flo. Just what I needed to get this old body in gear.

Bob

Afternoon, everyone.

Bob, Excellent planning. Your road workers should slow down Chris long enough for us to beat a hasty retreat when he starts for home. :) That's too bad about the old home place in Marion. I wish we were saving more historic structures like that but, with this economy, cities are finding every tax dollar they can. A typical short term approach to long term issues. :( I hope your back pain improves. I imagine all the layout building and moving hasn't helped matters. Some narcotics can be a real good thing at times like this.

Chris, not to worry, I'll take good care of the fish. Are any of them at all tasty if grilled up? Not that I'd do that, just wondering. :D

Phillip, that ear thing sounds awful. Have you had any dizziness in association with this infection? Have lost any hearing? This sounds more like a bad sinus infection rather than inner ear if you haven't had dizziness or hearing loss. I hope your doctor gets on top of it so you can get some rest.

BOC, better get out there with the canoe before the lake goes away. It looks like you are headed for a prolonged dry spell, which you guys can probably use. Our hot high should start retrograding to the west by Wednesday and that will block most storm development over the east.

Tom, all we've had is that stange bright object for about two weeks now. I'm ready for it to stay up by your place and give us some clouds and maybe a little rain.

I think I finally beat the new computer into submission so I'll do the big swap tonight. Dianna's computer is almost done and might get done if she'd stop asking me questions about how Vista works every 14 seconds. I keep telling her that's why there's a Help file. I don't want to sound mean but, if I'm run over by a bus tomorrow, she has to be able figure it out on her own.

It's hotter here than Vegas and I don't get free drinks. ;) Rex, if I was up on your roof, 0500 is when I'd start too. The low here last night was only 78 and we didn't hit that until just before 0600. High has been 107 and even the wind is hot. I'm always amazed we don't have more wildfires here. If we had this weather in California, half the state would be on fire. I'm hoping we'll start to "cool" off by Friday, which means highs back in the mid-90's and the hope of some rain.

Jim & Rex With all the reports of high temps, roofers starting with the chickens, cars with windows stuck down when A/C is required, I'm starting to think that Alabama is a native American word for frying pan!
Get over to Chris's place, 90 oughta feel real good to you guys! Even a cheerleader aty 98.6 degrees oughta cool ya off!!:D

Mee? I've been hiding in the basement, only made a few trips outside (for smokes) today. Been working on a new photo backdrop for the corner module. I got the street photo worked in, but the stream is killing me! I've got to go back and reshoot the stream tomorrow at noon (when the lighting is correct. Gotta have it done by Thursday night!!

Funny thing today. for the last few weeks I've been looking for a little cart to go behind one of the little tractors. Something a little larger than a wheelbarrow for gardening purposes and toting mulch around. Coming back from picture taking at 4, I spy one in a front yard 1/4 mile from home, big FREE sign on it! So I stopped and put in in the truck! It's a Craftsman dump cart, just the perfect size! So what it has a little surface rust. I can fix that easy! And now my Sears card can avoid a $150.00 charge!!! Yeah! :D

So tomorrow I start gardening at 6 am, quit at 11:30, go re-shoot pictures try to get the backdrop done tomorrow?

Hello--

Got all that running around done for work. Had some gardening bits done---now we's out on the deck with the laptop and the lemonade grilling up some veggies and some Salmon---on a mesquite plank----:D:D:D

Jim they're giving us until Wednesday for sun and then Thursday and possibly even Friday with some more rain--:rolleyes:---oh well---so far we got up to 28C with the humidity of 52% so we're not doing too bad---it's supposed to go to 14C tonight---hence fog right up--:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Bob Which house is this in Marion? My wife and took a bit of a trip through there a few years back and took a few thousand pix while down there---we're sort of frustrated preservationists here--LOL!!:D:D:D Maybe we got summat of yours--

Evening everybody

I was never so glad to climb into my car to drive home from work as I was today! Anything that could go wrong, did. Due to the fact that the Lab is now playing hardball with security, several network services that my databases depend on for overnight processing were disabled. Which meant that data that was supposed to get loaded into the database, didn't...which then resulted in my inbox being full of emails from users whose applications failed because of the missing data  Got that mess straightened out, then went to a mandatory conference on Info Security. My days of casually surfing the 'net at the office during lunch are over, and I need to setup a different email account for non-work-related email. [Hope I can filter out the real messages from the SPAM] Then I get back to the office to find an email from the network admin, saying they plan to disable another one of the services that is critically important to my databases. So I spent the rest of the day scrambling to find something to replace it - kind of difficult when external internet access has been cutoff! At least [hopefully] we'll have that back tomorrow.

Phillip - good luck with that ear problem, hope the doc(s) can figure it out quickly.

Jim - looks like there's light at the end of the [Vista 64] tunnel. Good luck with that. I'll gladly take some of that dry weather of your's after what we've been having up here!

Bob - bummer that they're taxing your Historic house, guess these municipal gov'ts will break any promise they might've made to get those tax $$$!

Karl, sure wish I, too, had a finished module to bring for the coming weekend. Just been too frick'n busy with honey dues and the Carcards project.

BOC - dining al fresco, are ye? How about bringing some of that salmon to Chris's, I bet it'll taste great being cooked on one of his grills...

CUL, time to continue working on the Waybills. Should probably also pick up a copy of MR for the office, since no more [recreational] internet.

Thanks guys.....I got some new meds and it's a bit better. At least I'm not pounding pain meds like chicklets tonight! I haven't had any diziness, but I was deaf for a few days. Glad thats over with!

Good morning folks

It was 68 F and the strange yellow ball was still in the sky. High will be 30 F with a chance of more familiar weather (rain) later tonight.

We got my son’s baseball game in last night. It was a playoff game which they lost. His team finished the year 7-4. It was the first time he has been on a winning baseball team.

I seem to be in a little bit of a modeling funk. I had an opportunity last night to model and did not take it. Instead I looked at the workbench and the layout and decided to go back upstairs. Right now the layout has a lot of stuff (locos and cars) strewn about it. We had to move the closet I keep the locos and cars in and now need to reorganize it and put things back. Right now for whatever reason that seems to be a task I don’t want to take on. I am sure this is just a temporary thing.

I hope everybody has a good day.

30 Tom, I hope thats a typo!!! LOL, or your getting sleet or snow!!!!
I'm sure the funk in temporary.......every time I see my workbench I get it a little bit!

Good morning.

It's 76 and sunny. The high will be 100+ and mostly sunny.

Not much to report today. There were several grass fire calls yesterday. That's due to increase as the temps go up with no rain in sight. If this year turns out to be a repeat of 1998 the next few weeks will be a very busy time for the fire departments. It was so hot and dry then that just the heat from a cars tailpipe would set the grass on fire, to say nothing of the heat of the catalytic converter. Haven't gotten any work done on the layout the past few days as I've been tied up with other things.

Good Morning--

Got the mix of sun/cloud going with the ever popular chance of showers and those t'underin' boomers ag'in. We's be seeing high of 29C with the heat index of around 35C today---supposed to go to 15C tonight----

Tom Time to go to Chris's!!!:D:D:D THAT"LL get you out of the funk!!:D:D:D

Jim What was that about getting a dry spell? Around here lately the pattern seems to be to give us a couple of sunny days---back to some more rainy days---a sunny day--back to some more rain---sheeesh:rolleyes::rolleyes:;)

Got some running around to do for work then it'll be look for a flatbed scanner so's I can get some photos I took when I was a kid transferred into my 'puter.I've only got to go through about 4 boxes of the things:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Good day all from Ye Olde London Towne. A pleasant sunny 23c today. The patio of the pub next to the office is seducing me like a siren's song.

Its been a busy few days and I'm really feeling it. Friday was a concert at the O2. Saturday was our club's open house running session. (I'm too old and sore to be standing for that many hours on end :() Sunday we managed to replace about 45' of fence between us and the neighbours. The old one was nearly 30 years old and was falling apart. Still have another 60' to go. At least its all prefab panels, so it goes together quickly apart from replacing the posts. Yesterday was recovery time. I spent half the day in bed and the other half soaking in epsom salts. Today the weightloss and eliptical training started. Can you say pain.

If it wasn't so far away I'd be at Chris' helping Jim with the fish. Have tartar sauce will travel :D

Take care all and have a good day.
