O' Good God! We got another streaker!!!!!:eek: Jim you and Karl ain't hanging out at Parks wearing trench coats are ya:confused::eek:

"And they call him the streak.........."

EWWWWWWW sick, another thought that needs to be harshly burned from my mind:eek::eek:

YEEEEKKS!!---why'd you have to come up with that image?---two of 'em no less:eek::eek::rolleyes:

BTW--I do not cry:eek:---grouch and moan a lot maybe, but cry? Uh uh:p:p:p

-----------------------------------------

Good morning--

We had another t'underin' boomer last night which woke the household up. Lotsa rain---now we's just be dribblin' along here----highs for the next few days will be in the low 20'sC and the lows going to the low 'teensC.
Oh, the next few days be givin' us some more rain as well---

Jim We are still trying to send some rain down your way but it wants to stick around here---and speaking of stick right now we are at 16C with the humidity at 98%---just love it ---

Ken If they have to shut the internet access down like that chances are that there was someone having issues with them?:(--normally if one shuts access down it'll only delay the attack b/c well, you know, these guys don't have a life---

Well, I'm off and running to the office this morning to do some fiddlework and see some clients. Then, when I get home see if'n I can get some stuff done in my trainroom

Good morning folks.

Tornadoes magically appeared five miles east of us last night. Thank God they headed east as well. A town southeast of us got hit pretty bad. Nobody died, just a lot of damage. I hope it wasn't too bad. As for us, we didn't see a drop of rain or a flash of lightning. As I said, the whole thing just magically appeared five miles east of us. Weird huh?

Jim, it sounds nasty hot down there. Yesterday we had a high of 89 with a dew point of 72. Not quite as bad as you but at least I had a taste of it. I still think I like the bitter cold over the sweltering heat. I may, however, change my mind again in the winter!(I always do!)

Larry, kudos for getting the trains running again. I hope to do the same shortly.

Tom, I sure hope you get some time to yourself one of these days. I guess it's not the right time of the year. Summer is busy busy busy. Of course, so is fall and winter and spring..... :)

I have a long day at work today so modeling for me tonight. I did manage to glue down the roadbed that approaches the trestle last night. I'm just about ready to lay the track. I don't know why I feel the need to have a whole day to do that. Its only going to take twenty minutes. I think it's because I would like to redo an offending portion on the other side at the same time. Kind of a track fixing marathon! Who knows why I do what I do?

I hope you all have a great day!

Afternoon, everyone.

Hey, I'll have you guys know my wife still thinks I look pretty good without a shirt. I still lift weights regularly and I don't look half bad for a 63 year old. Now, Chris, that would be another story....:)

Larry, have a good time at the wedding. When did you say you'd be back again? You know, what day and about what time too. No reason in particular, Chris was just curious and forgot to ask. ;)

Chris, I wear a dive skin and get sunburned through that. I think a coating of 10 weight motor oil might help but sun screen does absolutely nothing for me. I think I'd crawl through broken glass for one of your BBB's too. I haven't made anything on the grill this year yet. It's so freakin' hot that I can't hardly touch the thing without getting burned - and that's before it gets fired up.

Tom, that was one thing I really hated about Ohio as a kid. It seemed like half our games got rained out and the other half we played in mud. That doesn't count the years where it didn't rain but the heat was enough to kill you.

BOC, I'm the one who crys if I get a cut. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. :o Yeah, some kind of rain would sure be nice. Even the birds have given up flying from about 10 'till 4 down here.

Corey, this is tornado season up your way and they do just pop up out of nowhere. Minnesota is one of the few places where tornados are about as common after dark as during the day, which makes them especially dangerous. I'm glad this one missed you. You do have a weather radio, right? I've been up in your neck of the woods in the summer and it gets really uncomfortable when the heat and humidity are up. Of course, that's also the most likely time for these isolated supercells that have tornados so hot and sticky should be a warning to keep an eye on the sky.

Numer One daughter came home last night with both passenger side windows collapsed in the doors. Seems both motors failed at the same time. It's a 2004 Chevy Lumina and it doesn't seem like power windows should be failing already. My mechanic got the front one up but the back one has a destroyed regulator and he can't do anything with that until he gets the parts. Since GM shut down their parts factories, he's been having a much harder time getting parts so it's the junkyard route now. Prices have gone through the roof too. Just the regulator is going to cost $94 including tax. The regulator in number two's Pontiac, which is basically the same thing, was less than $60 three months ago when it collapsed. Between the two cars, we've now had 6 of the 8 windows collapse. And GM wonders why they went bankrupt.

Still just a touch warm here today. We have a few cumulus clouds around so we're down to only 102 after a high of 103. The dewpoint is 69 degrees, providing the comfortable heat index of 109. There's plenty of rain north, east, and south of us but nothing here or to the west, the direction we need something to develop. Now it looks like tomorrow and Saturday will be the worst of the heat, with highs probably pushing 108. After that, we start getting some return flow from the Gulf, with a tiny chance of rain but a big increase in humidity. I don't know which is worse, really hot and a little less humidity or really humid and not quite as hot. Seems like the heat index stays about the same no matter what. Even the low last night was 76 but the heat index never fell below 80. Nothing worse than going out in the garage for a smoke at midnight and sweating so much you need another shower again after you just took one. :D

Just got back from the water park! Man I'm flat TIRED, I climbed so many stairs on all the rides:eek:my legs feel like jello:rolleyes:

Jim, you can smell those BBB's in the freezer:p Mmmmmmmmmm, God I cant wait, i'm also going to cook some brats too:p

Good evenin'--had a busy one in the office.

When I got home had to go and look for some AWOL building pieces and as I now have 'em I can now go building some buildings that I was planning on building-----dang---weird sentence structure, that.:confused::p:p

Chris I grilled up a couple of marinated Eye of Round steaks--16oz'ers---:p:D:D just awhile ago---this inspite of a shower that skirted right by us---mind, I be silly enough to grill outside in the winter---:D:D

Jim Wasn't that one of the things that was complained about for years?--but we produce the best---yeah right:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes: If there is no QC then expect customers to go elsewhere----not that there will be much----ACCH!! better not go on another soapbox:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:

We're going to see a build up of some more t'under boomers tonight and tomorrow and tomorrow night---into Saturday now---sheeesh----then we go to the upper 20'sC by Sunday/Monday----

Went to see the foot doc this afternoon and he had good things to say. The sore on the bottom of my right foot is getting smaller (it's still going to require require surgery) and the left big toe is regrowing it's skin nicely. We're still trying to figure that one. I went by the pharmacy and got a refill on my insulin then went home. Afterwards my father and I went to the rehab center to see my mother for a couple of hours. She's doing better every day. She's gotten to the point that she can walk a short distance on her own. We then came home. My father called it a day as he has to be up early for work in the morning. I'm thinking about whether I should mow his yard tomorrow or Saturday. We'll see what comes up.

Jim You may want to check out the aftermarket like JCWhitney or Advance auto. My son's Grand Am had a regulator & Motor fail. parts were cheapest mail order, and they came in 2 days.

Jim, are you sure it's an '04? I thought the Lumina was discontinued after 2001.

Jim, are you sure it's an '04? I thought the Lumina was discontinued after 2001.

Smack! Duh!
Why didn't I remember that!
(Cuz I'm getting old!!!) :(
Luminas were killed off in 2000, unless you were a fleet customer, then you could get a 2001 model (rental cars, drug co. fleets, taxi service etc)
I can't believe I missed that, having worked for Chevrolet from 84 til 06 before going to Saturn.
I think I'm going to start drinking again. If I'm gonna lose brain cells, I might as well enjoy doing it!!!:D;)

Boy oh boy. Day started pretty rough.

Being a college student, I am used to going to sleep around 1-2 am. Because of where I am sleeping now, I am up 5:30 every morning. Not bad, I am actually enjoying it. First thing was my car battery was dead. The battery hasn't been holding a charge well, so I decided just to buy a new new one. While I was out I decided to get stuff for an oil change, and some things to buff my headlights so I can see!

Got home, was going to cut the grass, the lawn tractor won't start. Battery and starter don't start bad, seems more like the crank isn't moving. Thing is older than I am. It has seen better days. It is a good old manual transmission on it, clutch and all. Brake doesn't even work (hasn't for a good 10 years probably).

But it all got better. My friend had a spare ticket to see Eric Clapton tonight, $75 ticket, and I got it for free! Of the 2 concerts I have been to, it is the best one yet. Nothing like good times and music with the friends.

Evening, everyone.

Terry, sorry, it's a Cavalier. Those things all look alike to me now. :) I think the Cavalier was just a Lumina with a different name tag anyway. It's still a piece of junk.

Karl, I tried JCWhitney. $50 for the motor and $52 for the "regulator tape", otherwise known as the cheap nylon junk that serves as the window regulator. With shipping, it would have been about $110 so my mechanic got a pretty good price. We're lucky down here that there are lots of people with older cars and mechanics that scrounge parts to fix them. He really knows what he's doing and his labor rate is a whopping $29 an hour. It would cost me more than that for blood pressure medications if I tried to do it myself. :)

Jeffrey, glad to hear the news on your foot is reasonably good and your mom continues to improve. If she's like you, she should be plenty tough enough to get home soon and start pestering your dad. :D

BOC, I've got AWOL building pieces all over the place but I don't think I can constuct a sentence like that. ;) Those steaks sure sound good. Maybe I'll crank up the grill tomorrow as long as I spray it down with water first so I can touch the propane tank and get it truned on with second degree burns. Man, you have no idea how much I wish I had a covered patio. :(

As far as car quality, they got it too late. There was a noticeable increase in both parts and assembly quality starting in about 2005 but it was too late by then. The imports were already killing them and no on really believed that GM or Chrysler was making a better car. The only North American car company that got it was Ford. Having driven Crown Vics for a lot of years, they really started to improve the build quality starting in about 2000. In the 80's, our department's fleet used to average about 80% utilization because the rest were in for repair. In 2005, the year I retired, we were getting 97% utilization. We were just starting to get the Dodge Chargers in then and guess what the utilization rate was? Yep, right back to that 80% number. I feel sorry for the departments that have to keep those things running.

Chris, in addition to my normal sunburn, I also hate waiting in line and climbing all those stairs. My legs would be like rubber too. Geez, brats too? You're just trying to torture me.

A clear, warm and humid night again. It's still 80 degrees with a heat index of 84. How can it be that hot at almost 1:00 am? I've been in Vegas in the summer when it wasn't this hot at night. I've got nothing on the schedule for tomorrow so I plan on doing the "Easy" transfer to the new computer. If you hear a long sting of profanity coming from the south, that will be me. :D

G'morning, gang -

Time for my once-a-day post, since my office 'putor is still totally isolated from the Internet.

Jim/BOC - the attack is a lot more complicated than what it may appear, unfortunately I'm not at liberty to discuss it. But I'm afraid this will ultimately be a life-changing event with long term consequences.

Jim, I read your reply to my thread about the card holders, I went ahead and ordered a set. I should have them by Monday afternoon.

Funny thing I missed my Wednesday work out on the patio and ended up working out at the water park instead:rolleyes:! were going to universal resort monday-wednesday and then friday all day at bush gardens and sunday again at adventure island:p

Jim be at my FIL SUNDAY! I'll have your BBB ready....BTW, also sweet potatos and regular baking potatos, corn on the cob, is going on there too!

Hello--and a Good Mornin' to everyone---

We're in a fogbank up here---12C with 100% humidity--why not--- the forecast for today is for showers this morning then a 50% chance of showers with those attending t'underin' boomers thrown in---then more periods of rain ---heavy at times---with those t'under boomers--and tomorrow?---More of the same!!--yeah, right:rolleyes::rolleyes::(

Chris What do you use to make your BBB's with---Angus Beef? Marinated maybe?:):):D

Ken Someone must've had some real issues----YEEEKS!!:eek: Hopefully solution will be found:confused:

Jim The aftermarket seems to have better quality stuff sometimes I'm finding---now, my Audi, mind----------:):)

Good morning folks

It was 67 F this strange morning. High will be 81 F. Odd things going on. There is this strange yellow thing in the eastern sky this morning. It is all over the news. They say it called the sun, but don’t worry it will be gone by late this afternoon and the ever present rain clouds will be back for the weekend.

Nothing happened last night. My daughter’s softball game was called off due to the rain. I just puttered around the house taking care of a bunch of little odd jobs that needed to be done. The most excitement of the evening was when the youth music director from church called and asked my daughter to do a flute solo during one of the services this summer.

This weekend will get off to an impossible start. We have my son’s guitar lesson followed by a trip to see a Merit Badge Counselor since they had to reschedule from last week. At the same time my daughter is supposed to be going to a friend’s mother’s house for a birthday party/sleepover. The house is about an hour away. Tomorrow if the rain holds off and the fields dry out my daughter is supposed to play in an All-Star game and my wife has to go to the museum to feed the animals. Sunday who knows? My wife works at the Zoo. We were going to celebrate Father’s Day tomorrow instead of Sunday.

If I can I am going to get some modeling in this weekend.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good morning folks.

A funny thing happened to me yesterday. While helping a few customers with their tuxedos, I overheard something about trains. They were discussing railroad days in St James Minnesota. It turns out that they are members of the model railroad club in that area. It's the only one around here that I know of, about forty miles. They have an HO, O, and G scale layout for members. I guess they are having an open house next weekend in conjunction with the towns 'railroad days'. Every small town has a 'days' around here. It's usually an excuse to have a beer tent, bands, and carnies for the kiddies. I think I may need to wander on down there to check out this club. I guess the town provides the building, utilities, and insurance for the club. Their only requirement for this is to have an open house twice a year. Not a bad gig. I had quite the conversation with these guys. You never know when you'll find another model railroader. They're EVERYWHERE!

We are ready to hop on that roller coaster they call a summer weekend. My weekends are now booked through August! Oh well, booked with BBQ and trips. Not a bad way to waste a day.

I hope you all have a great day!

. My friend had a spare ticket to see Eric Clapton tonight, $75 ticket, and I got it for free! Of the 2 concerts I have been to, it is the best one yet. Nothing like good times and music with the friends.

Rough day, cool ending eh? :D

This will scare ya, I first saw Clapton in 1978 (Slowhand tour) under pretty much the same premise, free ticket and all. I was unaware that my buddy had a sister, a totally hot sister. What a night!!! ;)

Chris What do you use to make your BBB's with---Angus Beef? Marinated maybe?:):):D

80/20 beef and a special dry rub made fer boogers that when mixed with the beef self Marinates itself silly:p and got some asst. Johnsonville brats to go with the BBB's Mmmmmmmmm, and I have to wait till Sunday:eek::mad:

I ran my trains this morning dreaming up the scenery and such:) Man I need more yards to mow:D:rolleyes:

Karl: Haha, my friends parent's saw Clapton when they were younger. I felt like the youngest person there, but it was really spread out between the ages.

Chris: Thanks for backing me up. Can't let Karl trick us with all his foolery

Well, it is time to pull out the tractor and see why the darn thing doesn't wanna play nice. The grass really needs to get cut!
